ADJUSTABLE GEOMETRY WEARABLE ELECTRODES
20230000416 · 2023-01-05 ·

The present disclosure provides systems, apparatuses, and methods for use of wearable electrode assemblies. The electrode assemblies improve comfort by providing increased overall surface area of their bottom surfaces, which make contact with the patient's scalp and hair. Collapse, compression, or telescoping of the bottom surface will thereby decrease the direct force and/or pressure applied by the distal member or members of the bottom surfaces to the skin. This may be advantageous in patients who have little to no hair in electrode contact areas, patient populations that are particularly skin-sensitive, and/or patients which must wear the electrode assemblies of an extended time period. The electrode assemblies further include structures to dispense and/or maintain conductive gel placed over the patient's skin, thereby maintaining electrical connection quality, and/or to facilitate the clearing of skin and/or hair prior to establishing an electrical connection.

Electrode systems, devices and methods

An electrode system include a flowable and cohesive surface contact element comprising a hydrophilic polymer swollen with an electrolyte fluid, the contact element having a Q′ ratio of at least 5 as defined by the equation Q = W W W G
wherein W.sub.G is the dry weight of the hydrophilic polymer and W.sub.W is weight of water in the sample after absorption of the electrolyte fluid comprising water and an electrolyte salt. The surface contact element can consist essentially of the hydrophilic polymer swollen by the electrolyte fluid. Another electrode system includes a contact element including a crosslinked hydrophilic polymer matrix. The contact element has a Q′ ratio of at least 5 as defined by the equation Q = W W W G .
The contact elements can also have a Q′ ratio of at least 6, at least 7, at least 10 or even at least 11.

An adhesive electrode for the registration of electric and electrobiological signals and/or for stimulating a patient includes a patient contact portion and a transmission portion. The patient contact portion includes a layer of adhesive electrolyte material in contact with the patient's skin, a layer of conductive material, and a layer of insulating material. The transmission portion is also connected to the conductive layer. The layer of conductive material includes at least partially a layer of magnetic material, the transmission portion being removably secured to the layer of magnetic material.

Needle protective device for subcutaneous sensors

An introducer is provided for introducing a sensor into the body of a patient. The introducer connects to a sensor hub. When the sensor hub and introducer are connected, the introducer needle is exposed. When the sensor hub and introducer are disconnected, a needle cover and the needle move with respect to each other so that the needle cover substantially covers the needle, protecting a user from being injured by the needle.

WEARABLE MECHANO-ACOUSTIC SENSOR
20230218177 · 2023-07-13 ·

A wearable mechano-acoustic sensor for continuous cardiorespiratory monitoring, and methods of making and using the same. The sensor includes a diaphragm with a chamber and a channel connected to the chamber, a plurality of electrodes including at least an anode and a cathode extending into the channel, and a liquid electrolyte solution that fills the chamber and channel. When the diaphragm is attached to a user's chest, mechano-acoustic movement from the chest cause the diaphragm to move, pushing the electrolyte solution across the electrodes. A voltage is applied to the anode and an electrochemical current is determined by the flux from the anode to the cathode by the modulation of the electrolyte solution across the electrodes and cardiorespiratory signals are measured from the electrochemical currents.
