A device for measuring a temperature at one or more locations in an organ or tissue inside the human or animal body, a related kit and a related method. The device includes a catheter tube having a distal end for inserting into the body and a proximal end for remaining outside the body in use of the device, and at least one resistive temperature sensor in the tube, and a plurality of electrical wires in the tube that are connected to the at least one resistive temperature sensor. The plurality of electrical wires includes at least some electrical wires running from the proximal end of the tube through the tube. The device includes a connector at the proximal end of the tube for electrically connecting the plurality of electrical wires to an external device. The resistive temperature sensor includes a thermal resistor and a first terminal and a second terminal.

It is possible to highly precisely determine a surface temperature of a balloon. A balloon catheter includes: a balloon; an outer cylinder shaft connected to a proximal end of the balloon; an inner cylinder shaft passing through the outer cylinder shaft to extend into the balloon to be connected to a distal end of the balloon; and a heating component disposed in the balloon for heating a liquid in the balloon. A liquid delivery path in communication with the balloon is formed between the outer cylinder shaft and the inner cylinder shaft. A temperature sensor is disposed in the liquid delivery path.

A method of monitoring a patient's foot forms a thermogram of the sole of at least one foot of the patient, and determines whether the thermogram presents at least one of a plurality of prescribed patterns. The method also compares the thermogram against a prior thermogram of the same foot, and produces output information indicating the emergence of an ulcer on a given portion on the at least one foot as a function of 1) whether the thermogram is determined to present the at least one pattern, and 2) the comparison with the prior thermogram, which shows non-ulcerated tissue at the given location.

The platform has a scanner for scanning the bottom of the user's feet that produces a digital image thereof. A printed circuit board supports remote connectivity to a mobile application that transmits the scanned digital image of the users' feet to the mobile application for storage and delivery to a physician. The arrangement includes the mobile application that provides a series of diagnostic questions and prompts to the user and is configured to transmit data including the scanned images of the user's feet to a physician.

The present invention pertains to an integrated wound dressing device for treatment of an insertion site of percutaneous and drug delivery devices. The integrated wound dressing device preferably comprises a transparent film layer having a bottom side, a top side and a perimeter. The bottom side is coated with an adhesive impregnated with an antimicrobial agent. The transparent film has a radius cutout between a central opening and the perimeter. A liquid crystal temperature sensitive film with an adhesive placed on the top side of the transparent film layer is preferably near and around the central opening. The dressing also has a layer of double folded release paper below the bottom side of the transparent film layer. The preferred TLCs used are cholesteryl esters with a preferable temperature detection range of 35-40° C. The preferred antimicrobial agent is chlorohexidine gluconate (CHG).

The method includes an earbud covered with a waterproof moisture permeable membrane allowing for moisture penetration, the earbud including an infrared (IR) temperature sensor for measuring core body temperature of the subject, wherein the IR temperature sensor is covered with a waterproof IR transmittable film to inhibit water drops from contacting a detector of the IR temperature sensor, a first humidity sensor positioned within a sweat flow path within the earbud, a second humidity sensor positioned outside the earbud, and a sodium ion (Na.sup.+) concentration sensor for measuring hydration levels of the subject.

A thermographic sensing device for measuring temperatures at one or more regions of the human body, particularly the breast, utilizes a thermographic composition deposited into linear arrays of recesses formed in the lobes of a conformable medium which is disposable against the skin. The thermographic composition includes a binary solvent system and at least one colorant, wherein the compositions in each array are formulated to melt at precise temperatures, within a diagnostically temperature relevant range, to change from a first visible color to a second visible color.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING BODY TEMPERATURE

An apparatus for estimating core body temperature of an object is provided. The apparatus may include: a first temperature sensor configured to measure a surface temperature of an object; a second temperature sensor configured to measure a surface temperature of a material, which is positioned between the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor; and a processor configured to obtain a heat flux based on the surface temperature of the object and the surface temperature of the material, configured to estimate a wrist temperature of the object based on the obtained heat flux and the surface temperature of the object, and configured to estimate core body temperature of the object based on the estimated wrist temperature of the object and a heat loss coefficient between a core and a wrist.

Systems for detecting contact between an electrode and a patient's skin using one or more contact detection schemes are provided. An example system can include an electrode assembly comprising at least one electrode configured to be disposed substantially proximate to the patient's skin and configured to at least one of sense an ECG signal of the patient and provide one or more therapeutic pulses to the patient, one or more sensors disposed on the electrode assembly and isolated from the electrode, the sensors configured to measure one or more properties to determine contact between the electrode and the patient's skin, and a controller configured to receive data representing the measured one or more properties and determine, based at least in part on the received data, whether the electrode is in contact with the patient's skin. The sensors can include temperature, impedance, capacitance, optical, and other similar sensors.
