A device for carrying out fluorescence lifetime microscopy of an eye includes a probe light source for sending a probe beam into the eye as well as a fluorescence detector for measuring time-resolved fluorescence data using fluorescent light returning from the eye. The device further includes an interferometer for sending a measurement beam into the eye and carrying out optical coherence tomography on light reflected from structures within the eye. A beam splitter is provided to collinearly combine the probe beam and a measurement beam. This device can be used to combine optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fluorescence lifetime data for obtaining more descriptive results. The device is also equipped for correcting fluorescence lifetime data of a first structure of the eye by compensating for fluorescence contributions from a second structure of the eye.

AUGMENTED AND VIRTUAL REALITY DISPLAY SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSING HEALTH CONDITIONS BASED ON VISUAL FIELDS

Configurations are disclosed for a health system to be used in various healthcare applications, e.g., for patient diagnostics, monitoring, and/or therapy. The health system may comprise a light generation module to transmit light or an image to a user, one or more sensors to detect a physiological parameter of the user's body, including their eyes, and processing circuitry to analyze an input received in response to the presented images to determine one or more health conditions or defects.

Piggyback intraocular lens that improves overall vision where there is a local loss of retinal function

Systems and methods are provided for improving overall vision in patients suffering from a loss of vision in a portion of the retina (e.g., loss of central vision) by providing a piggyback lens which in combination with the cornea and an existing lens in the patient's eye redirects and/or focuses light incident on the eye at oblique angles onto a peripheral retinal location. The piggyback lens can include a redirection element (e.g., a prism, a diffractive element, or an optical component with a decentered GRIN profile) configured to direct incident light along a deflected optical axis and to focus an image at a location on the peripheral retina. Optical properties of the piggyback lens can be configured to improve or reduce peripheral errors at the location on the peripheral retina. One or more surfaces of the piggyback lens can be a toric surface, a higher order aspheric surface, an aspheric Zernike surface or a Biconic Zernike surface to reduce optical errors in an image produced at a peripheral retinal location by light incident at oblique angles.

Population of an eye model using measurement data in order to optimize spectacle lenses

A method, a device, and a corresponding computer program product for calculating (optimizing) and producing a spectacle lens with the aid of a semi-personalized eye model. In one approach, the method includes providing personalized refraction data of at least one eye of the spectacles wearer; establishing a personalized eye model in which at least the parameters: shape of an anterior corneal surface of a model eye; a cornea-lens distance; parameters of the lens of the model eye; and lens-retina distance are established using personalized measured values for the eye of the spectacles wearer, and/or using standard values, and/or using the provided personalized refraction data, such that the model eye has the provided personalized refraction data, wherein at least the establishment of the lens-retina distance takes place via calculation.

An ophthalmic apparatus includes an objective lens arranged to be passed through by first and second measurement optical axes that are positioned at a distance from each other. An OCT optical system performs OCT on a subject's left eye arranged on the first measurement optical axis or a subject's right eye arranged on the second measurement optical axis. An optical axis adjusting unit adjusts an optical axis of the OCT optical system under control of a controller so that the optical axis approximately coincides with any one of the first measurement optical axis and the second measurement optical axis. An intraocular parameter calculator calculates an intraocular parameter of the subject's left or right eye based on a detection result of interference light acquired in a state where the optical axis of the OCT optical system approximately coincides with the first or second measurement optical axis.
