Level set calibration and assurance for pulmonary artery pressure catheterization
Embodiments of the present invention provide for maintaining a level set of a pulmonary artery catheterization apparatus that includes a pulmonary artery pressure sensor in communication with a pulmonary artery catherization manifold affixed to a pulmonary artery catheter. The method includes calibrating leveling of the pulmonary artery pressure sensor (at the level of the right atrium) with the pulmonary artery catheterization manifold by recording a vertical level of a leveling base positioned at a common level to the manifold, relative to a vertical level of a leveling sensor positioned at a common level to the pulmonary artery pressure sensor. The method further includes monitoring a difference between the recorded vertical level of the leveling base relative to the vertical level of the leveling sensor. Finally, the method includes generating an alert in a user interface element of the leveling sensor in response to the monitored difference exceeding a threshold value.
Apparatus and method for calibration of bio-information estimation model, and bio-information estimating apparatus
An apparatus for calibration of a bio-information estimation model includes a sensor configured to obtain a bio-signal from an object in a reference interval; a feature extractor, implemented by at least one processor, configure to extract a reference feature value from the bio-signal; and a calibrator, implemented by the at least one processor, configured to determine whether a condition is satisfied based on at least one of the reference feature value and an offset value, and based on determining that the condition is satisfied, configured to calibrate the bio-information estimation model based on the reference feature value and the offset value.
PRESSURE BASED STRUCTURAL HEART ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
The heart valve assessment systems described herein advantageously provide indicators of a heart valve condition, such as a pressure gradient or a valve regurgitation index. The heart valve assessment systems can provide indicators of a heart valve condition during a heart procedure. A pressure gradient indicates a severity or measurement of the narrowing (or stenosis) of a valve by the increase in pressure behind it. A valve regurgitation index indicates a leakiness measurement of a valve.
SYSTEMS FOR ASSESSING AND CORRECTING BASELINE PRESSURE INSTABILITY OF MEDICAL PRESSURE SENSORS
Described herein are systems, devices, and methods to assess and correct for instability of baseline pressure of pressure sensors applied for measuring pressures inside a human body or body cavity, such as intracranial pressure (ICP) and arterial blood pressure (ABP). The present disclosure includes systems for assessing instability of baseline pressure by computing differences in single pressure wave parameters between single pressure waves, calculating pressure stability levels, determining differences between pressure stability levels and creating baseline pressure indicator plots. The baseline pressure indicator plots define instability of baseline pressure as a function of defined thresholds applied to parameters of the pressure stability levels. The disclosure also provides means for correcting mean pressure caused by baseline pressure instability.
Automatic detection of body planes of rotation
Techniques are disclosed for automatically calibrating a reference orientation of an implantable medical device (IMD) within a patient. In one example, sensors of an IMD sense a plurality of orientation vectors of the IMD with respect to a gravitational field. Processing circuitry of the IMD processes the plurality of orientation vectors to identify an upright vector that corresponds to an upright posture of the patient. The processing circuitry classifies the plurality of orientation vectors with respect to the upright vector to define a sagittal plane of the patient and a transverse plane of the patient. The processing circuitry determines, based on the upright vector, the sagittal plane, and the transverse plane, a reference orientation of the IMD within the patient. As the orientation of the IMD within the patient changes over time, the processing circuitry may recalibrate its reference orientation and accurately detect a posture of the patient.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REMOTE ASSESSMENT AND CORRECTION OF BASELINE PRESSURE INSTABILITY OF MEDICAL PRESSURE SENSORS
Described herein are systems, devices, and methods for remote assessment and correction of baseline pressure instability of medical pressure sensors. The present disclosure enables centralized surveillance of baseline pressure instability, which provides a technical solution for manufacturers of pressure sensors and/or pressure transducer systems to monitor the proper function of their products. Moreover, health care personnel are provided with means to assess pressure sensor instability and get corrected pressure scores, neither of which are presently unavailable. The disclosure thereby provides a technical solution to a problem of medical pressure sensors that represents risk of harm to patients.

Method for determining a blood pressure value including the steps of: providing a pulsatility signal, determining a time-related feature and a normalized amplitude-related feature on the basis of the pulsatility signal; and calculating a blood pressure value on the basis of a blood pressure function depending on the time-related feature, the normalized amplitude-related feature and function parameters.
Device for acquiring physiological variables measured in a body
An eavesdropping arrangement for acquiring a measured physiological variable of an individual includes a receiver and a communication interface in a housing separate from the receiver. The communication interface is positioned along a communication link between a first sensor, which is configured to measure aortic blood pressure and to provide a signal representing measured aortic blood pressure, and a central monitoring device configured to monitor the measured aortic blood pressure. The communication interface includes a connection to the communication link that permits the communication interface to eavesdrop on the signal representing measured aortic blood pressure such that information representing measured aortic blood pressure is sent to the receiver while allowing the central monitoring device to receive and use the signal representing measured aortic blood pressure.
