METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC COUGH DETECTION
20230039619 · 2023-02-09 ·

A method for identifying cough sounds in an audio recording of a subject including: operating at least one electronic processor to identify potential cough sounds in the audio recording; operating the at least one electronic processor to transform one or more of the potential cough sounds into corresponding one or more image representations; operating the at least one electronic processor to apply the one or more image representations to a representation pattern classifier trained to confirm that a potential cough sound is a cough sound or is not a cough sound; and operating the at least one electronic processor to flag one or more of the potential cough sounds as confirmed cough sounds based on an output of the representation pattern classifier.

A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING AND ANALYSING COUGH
20230008906 · 2023-01-12 ·

The method and system for monitoring cough comprises receiving audio signals or audio recordings, where said signals or audio recordings comprises one or more of silent segments, cough sound segments, speech segments and extraneous noise. The processing of said received sound signals or sound recordings comprise one or more of removing one or more speech components from speech segments to render the speech unintelligible and clipping said silent segments, wherein one or more speech components include vowel sounds. Further processing of said received audio signals or audio recordings further comprises compressing said audio signals or audio recordings. In the alternative, processing of audio signals or audio recordings comprises compressing a resultant signal after said removal of one or more speech components and/or clipping of silent segments from said audio signals.

Systems and Methods for Measuring Vital Signs Using Multimodal Health Sensing Platforms

Systems and methods for measuring vitals in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a method for measuring vital signs. The method includes steps for identifying regions of interest (ROIs) from video data of an individual, generating temporal waveforms from the ROIs, analyzing the generated temporal waveforms to extract vital sign measurements, and generating outputs based on the analyzed temporal waveforms.

A method for predicting the presence of a malady of the respiratory system in a subject comprising: operating at least one electronic processor to transform one or more sounds of the subject that are associated with the malady into corresponding one or more image representations of said sounds; applying said one or more representations to at least one pattern classifier trained to predict the presence of the malady; and operating said processor to predict the presence of the malady in the subject based on at least one output of the at least one pattern classifier.

Digital stethoscope for detecting a respiratory abnormality and architectures thereof
11696703 · 2023-07-11 · ·

Embodiments disclosed herein improve digital stethoscopes and their application and operation. A first method detects of a respiratory abnormality using a convolution. A second method counts coughs for a patient. A third method predicts a respiratory event based on a detected trend. A fourth method forecasts characteristics of a future respiratory event. In a fifth embodiment, a base station is provided for a digital stethoscope.

Monitoring, predicting, and treating clinical episodes

Apparatus and methods are described including identifying that a subject suffers from sleep apnea. Positive airway pressure (PAP) is applied to the subject via a mask placed on a face of the subject. A respiratory-related parameter of the subject is sensed, while the mask is on the face of the subject, and a need of the subject for respiratory support is assessed, responsively to the respiratory-related parameter. In accordance with the assessed need, the mask is configured to regulate the PAP provided to the subject's face. Other applications are also described.
