SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING AND PREVENTING PATIENT DEPARTURES FROM BED

A method for monitoring a patient in a bed using a camera. The method includes identifying a boundary of the bed using data from the camera, identifying parts of the patient using data from the camera, and determining an orientation of the patient using the parts identified for the patient. The method further includes monitoring movement of the patient using the parts identified for the patient and computing a departure score indicating the likelihood of the patient departing the bed based on the orientation of the patient and the movement of the patient. The method further includes comparing the departure score to a predetermined threshold and generating a notification when the departure score exceeds the predetermined threshold.

PATIENT MONITORING DEVICE WITH IMPROVED USER INTERFACE

A system for monitoring a patient's orientation to reduce a risk of the patient developing a pressure ulcer can include one or more hardware processors that can receive and process data from a sensor to determine the patient's orientation. The one or more hardware processors can maintain a plurality of timers associated with available orientations of the patient. The one or more hardware processors can modify a value of the plurality of timers based on an amount of time the patient is oriented in the plurality of orientations. The one or more hardware processors can generate an interactive graphical user interface on the display screen. The user interface can include a graphic for illustrating an orientation history of the patient. The one or more hardware processors can modify an appearance of the graphic based upon the values the plurality of timers.

A situation identification method includes acquiring a plurality of images; identifying, for each of the plurality of images, a first area including a bed area where a place to sleep appears in an image, and a second area where an area in a predetermined range around the place to sleep appears in the image; detecting a state of a subject to be monitored for each of the plurality of images based on a result of detection of a head area indicating an area of a head of the subject in the first area and a result of detection of a living object in the second area; when the state of the subject changes from a first state to a second state, identifying a situation of the subject based on a combination of the first state and the second state; and outputting information that indicates the identified situation.

FURNITURE-INTEGRATED MONITORING SYSTEM AND LOAD CELL FOR SAME

A load cell apparatus for use with a bed includes a housing having a top portion and a bottom portion, and a load cell device held by the bottom portion of the housing. The load cell device is structured to generate a signal having a magnitude that is proportional to a first force being applied to the load cell device. The load cell apparatus also includes a button member held by the housing in a manner wherein the button member is structured to engage the load cell device and apply the first force to the load cell device in response to a second force being applied to the top portion of the housing. Also, various systems for monitoring parameters such as weight, sleep quality, fall risk, and/or pressure sore risk that may incorporate such a load cell apparatus.

Hospital bed having rounding checklist

A patient support apparatus, such as a hospital bed, communicates with an electronic medical record (EMR) system in healthcare facility. The hospital bed includes a patient support structure to support a patient, a graphical user interface coupled to the patient support structure, and control circuitry coupled to the graphical user interface. The graphical user interface displays at least one input that may be used by a caregiver to chart data into an electronic medical record (EMR) of a patient supported by the patient support structure.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING MOVEMENT

A system includes a sensor configured to generate data associated with movements of a resident for a period of time, a memory storing machine-readable instructions, and a control system arranged to provide control signals to one or more electronic devices. The control system also includes one or more processors configured to execute the machine-readable instructions to analyze the generated data associated with the movement of the resident, determine, based at least in part on the analysis, a likelihood for a fall event to occur for the resident within a predetermined amount of time, and responsive to the determination of the likelihood for the fall event satisfying a threshold, cause an operation of the one or more electronic devices to be modified.

EXIT DETECTION SYSTEM WITH OBSTRUCTION REACTION

A person support apparatus, such as a bed, stretcher, cot, recliner, or the like, includes an exit detection system having a plurality of force sensors that support the weight of an occupant positioned on a support surface and obstruction detection system having one or more obstruction sensors. The force sensors are part of an exit detection system that issues an alarm when the occupant exits, or is about to exit, the person support apparatus. The bed exit system can react to detection of an obstacle. The distribution of weight applied to the force sensors is used to determine if the occupant is about to exit the person support apparatus. Compensation is made to the exit detection system for changes in the weight distribution that are not caused by movement of the occupant. Such changes may be due to not only movement of the person support apparatus or components thereof, but obstacles encountered by the person support apparatus or components thereof.

STATE DETERMINATION METHOD, STATE DETERMINATION DEVICE, STATE DETERMINATION SYSTEM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

A state determination method, a state determination device, a state determination system, and a recording medium are provided for determining a state of a living body based on electrical signal according to a detected vibration. A state determination device 2 acquires electrical signal according to a detected vibration, and operates: a rectification unit (step S2); an envelope detection unit to derive an envelope from the rectified electrical signal (step S3); and a state determination unit to determine the state of the living body based on the derived envelope (step S4). The state determination device 2 that has determined the state of the living body outputs a determination result (step S5).

CALIBRATING A SENSING DEVICE FOR IMPROVED ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER RESOLUTION UTILIZATION

Calibration of a sensing device is provided. The sensing device includes a sensor configured to sense a condition. In the sensing device, a voltage-dividing resistance and a reference voltage of an analog-to-digital converter are set to configure a quantization range of the analog-to-digital converter given characteristics of the sensor. During calibration, a binary search is performed between lower and upper limits of the voltage-dividing resistance, which is a variable resistance, to find the resistance of the voltage-dividing resistance at which the sensing device is operated.

Medical environment monitoring system

A system and a method are described for monitoring a medical care environment.
