Other embodiments may also be possible.
Patient-worn wireless physiological sensor
A wireless, patient-worn, physiological sensor configured to, among other things, help manage a patient that is at risk of forming one or more pressure ulcers is disclosed. According to an embodiment, the sensor includes a base having a top surface and a bottom surface. The sensor also includes a substrate layer including conductive tracks and connection pads, a top side, and a bottom side, where the bottom side of the substrate layer is disposed above the top side of the base. Mounted on the substrate layer are a processor, a data storage device, a wireless transceiver, an accelerometer, and a battery. In use, the sensor senses a patient's motion and wirelessly transmits information indicative of the sensed motion to, for example, a patient monitor. The patient monitor receives, stores, and processes the transmitted information.
Methods for radio wave based health monitoring that utilize data derived from amplitude and/or phase data
A method for monitoring a health parameter in a person is disclosed. The method involves transmitting radio waves below the skin surface of a person and across a range of stepped frequencies, receiving radio waves on a two-dimensional array of receive antennas, the received radio waves including a reflected portion of the transmitted radio waves across the range of stepped frequencies, generating data that corresponds to the received radio waves, wherein the data includes amplitude and phase data, deriving data from at least one of the amplitude and phase data, and determining a value that is indicative of a health parameter in the person in response to the derived data.
MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
Appropriate processing is executed in a method for excluding body motion data and image reconstruction according to a type and a characteristic of a body motion, so as to reduce an influence of the body motion, and prevent deterioration of image quality caused by exclusion of data generated during the body motion. An MRI apparatus includes a processing determination unit that collects k-space data and acquires body motion information from a sensor capable of detecting not only a respiratory motion but also general body motions, analyzes the body motion information obtained by the sensor, and branches and executes processing for subsequent data collection and image reconstruction according to the analysis result. The MRI apparatus determines, based on a temporal characteristic such as a duration and a frequency, and a spatial characteristic of the body motion, particularly a generation pattern in a k-space, body motion data to be excluded, and executes image reconstruction suitable for k-space data after exclusion of the body motion data.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SWALLOWING IMPAIRMENT DETECTION
In a method and apparatus for swallowing impairment detection, a candidate executes one or more swallowing events, and dual axis accelerometry data is acquired representative thereof. Upon feature extraction and classification, vibrational data acquired in respect of each swallowing event is classified as indicative of one of normal or possibly impaired swallowing.
SENSING DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING THE DELIVERY OF CARE TO IMMOBILE PATIENTS
The present disclosure relates to the reduction of pressure ulcers and falls with respect to patients with physical or cognitive impairments who are in bed. A control system assures that the bed and ancillary apparatus are physically set and that patient behaviors are responded to by care providers. Motion is monitored with a non-mutually exclusive portfolio of sensors, and this information is used by one or more reasoning engines. An integrated clinical workflow is informed by the patterns of movement and then the physical environment, patient interaction, and care provider workflow are controlled to reduce the incidence of falls and pressure ulcers in bed ridden patients.
SENSOR DEVICE, SENSING METHOD, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE
[Object] To provide a sensor device, sensing method, and information processing device, capable of executing more flexible measurement for visualizing the movement of an object. [Solution] The sensor device includes: a sensor unit configured to sense information relating to an object; an attachment portion configured to detachably attached to any of one or more attachment positions provided on the object; and an acquisition unit configured to acquire information indicating the attachment position to which the attachment portion is attached.
Smart Clothing with Converging/Diverging Bend or Stretch Sensors for Measuring Body Motion or Configuration
This invention is smart clothing with stretch and/or bend sensors for measuring changes in a person's body configuration. This smart clothing has an elastic nonconductive layer onto which helical converging/diverging conductive pathways are printed using ink which is a mixture of elastic nonconductive material and conductive material. Changes in the transmission of electromagnetic energy through the pathway are analyzed to measure changes in the configuration of the person's body.
Movement tracking devices and methods
A movement tracking device that includes a housing, a rotatable spool secured within the housing, a rotary sensor in operable communication with the spool, and a conductive wire configured to be repeatedly unspooled from and respooled onto the rotatable spool. The conductive wire has a distal end extendable from the housing. The movement tracking device also includes a plurality of resonators and a processor in communication with the plurality of resonators and the rotary sensor. The plurality of resonators are disposed in or on the housing and positioned about the conductive wire. Each of the plurality of resonators is configured to create one or more magnetic fields through which the conductive wire extends. The processor is configured to receive information from the plurality of resonators and the rotary sensor and determine a position of the conductive wire.
