Medical device with sliding frontal attachment and retractable needle
A medical device having a frontal attachment and a connector housing having or attachable to an associated medical apparatus, the frontal attachment slidably engaging the connector housing and having a forwardly projecting, rearwardly biased needle and a needle retraction assembly, and the connector housing having a needle retraction cavity laterally offset from the needle in a first position, the needle retraction cavity being selectively movable relative to the frontal attachment following use to reposition the needle retraction cavity into alignment with the needle to permit retraction.
Manual flow regulation for blood collection
A specimen collection assembly including a flow control member for adjustably altering a flow path is disclosed. In one configuration, the flow control member defines a regulation channel in fluid communication with a lumen of a cannula, wherein the flow control member is configured to adjustably alter an effective flow distance between the lumen of the cannula and an interior of an evacuated collection container. In another configuration, the flow control member is positioned to vary an effective cross-sectional area of at least one of an inlet port and an outlet port adapted to be in fluid communication with the lumen and the evacuated collection container.
Single-handed operable infant heel blood sampling device and its safety mechanism
The disclosure discloses a single-handed operable infant heel blood sampling device and its safety mechanism, including a push-pull rod and an actuating rod partially extending outside the blood sampler housing; the actuating rod has a second hook portion that can engage with the first hook portion; to perform blood sampling, push down the push-pull rod to disengage the buckle portion from the housing, causing the first hook portion to engage with the second hook portion on the first end of the actuating rod; then pull up the push-pull rod to pull the actuating rod, and the actuating rod thus releases a pre-compressed spring set inside the blood sampler housing, allowing the blade originally positioned in a first position inside the housing to slide out from a cutting port and then be retracted into a second position inside the housing.
Fluid collection/injection device having safety needle assembly/cover and safety system and method
Fluid collection/injection device comprises a body having a front end, a back end, and a main hollow section arranged between the front and back ends and a needle hub securing section arranged on the front end and being structured and arranged to receive therein a needle member. The fluid collection/injection device is structured and arranged to utilize at least an operational mode, an operational mode, and a post-use mode. In the installation mode, the needle member is coupled to the body via the needle hub securing section. In the operational mode, fluid passes through the needle member and into or out of a receptacle inserted into the main hollow section.
Safety Blood Collection Assembly With Indicator
A needle assembly is disclosed. The needle assembly includes a housing having a flash chamber, and having a distal end and a proximal end engageable with a specimen collection container. The assembly includes a cannula having a patient end, a non-patient end, and a sidewall extending therebetween defining a cannula interior. The patient end of the cannula projects at least partially from the distal end of the housing, and the cannula interior is in fluid communication with the flash chamber. The assembly further includes a shield restrainably engaged with a portion of the housing and axially transitionable over the patient cannula from a retracted position in which the patient end is exposed, to an extended position in which the patient end is shielded by at least a portion of the shield, wherein at least a portion of the flash chamber is visible in the retracted position.
SYRINGE NEEDLE SHIELD
A syringe needle shield (10) and a method of using the syringe needle shield (10) that is configured to enclose a needle el (4) of a syringe (2), the syringe needle shield (10) comprising a proximal end (20) providing access to an inner cavity (50), a distal end (22) including a flange (30), and an outer surface (24) including a plurality of ribs (40) disposed adjacent to the flange (30), each of the plurality of ribs (40) including a substantially flat surface (42) and a concave surface (44), wherein the substantially flat surface (42) is adjacent to the concave surface (44).
Vacuum pressure regulators for use during blood collection
A regulator for in-line modulation of the flow rate of fluid during blood collection includes a fluid transfer device for transferring fluid from a patient to a collection device. The fluid transfer device comprises a fluid passageway defined by a tubular sidewall and a flexible member associated with a portion of the tubular sidewall. The flexible member is configured for movement with respect to the fluid passageway upon exposure of the fluid transfer device to a differential pressure during a blood collection procedure to prevent collapse of a patients blood vessel. The flexible member of the regulator can be a frame surrounding a flexible diaphragm. Alternatively, the flexible member can include a flexible material integrally formed within the tubular sidewall of the pressure regulator.
Blood collection tube holder with slide-activated needle retraction
A blood collection tube holder embodying two coaxially alignable needles, the first needle being a forwardly facing venipuncture needle and the second needle being a rearwardly facing fluid discharge needle. The first and second needles are satisfactorily supported by a frontal attachment and body, respectively, that are disposed in relative sliding engagement along an interface that is transverse to the first and second needle and that extends at least from the second needle to an opening into a needle retraction chamber that projects rearwardly from the body. The subject device is configured to receive and support a conventional blood collection tube of the type used to collect blood samples.
