Blood collection assembly
The present disclosure is a blood collection assembly that has a needle assembly fixedly coupled to a finger-activated actuator and tubing and the needle assembly has a needle. Further, the blood collection assembly has a hub that houses the needle assembly and the hub has a channel in a top surface of the hub. Additionally, the channel slidably engages the finger-activated actuator such that when the finger-activated actuator is moved from a distal end of the hub to a proximal end of the hub the needle retracts within the hub.
Devices and methods for fluid transfer through a placed peripheral intravenous catheter
An apparatus includes a catheter, an introducer, and an actuator. A distal end portion of the introducer is configured to couple to an indwelling peripheral intravenous line. The actuator is movably coupled to the introducer and is configured to move the catheter between a first position, in which the catheter is disposed within the introducer, and a second position, in which a distal end portion of the catheter is distal to the introducer. A first portion of the actuator is disposed outside of the introducer and in contact with an outer surface of the introducer such that (1) a longitudinal axis defined by a second portion of the actuator is nonparallel to a longitudinal axis defined by the introducer and (2) the second portion of the actuator exerts a force on a proximal end portion of the catheter operable to increase an internal stress with in a portion of the catheter.
Safety syringe having a manually activated retractable needle
A retractable needle assembly includes a housing having a sidewall defining a hollow bore, and an elongate plunger, the distal end of the plunger forming a reservoir within the hollow bore for containing a fluid therein. The plunger is adapted for slideable movement within the hollow bore. The assembly includes a hub disposed within the hollow bore and at least partially supporting a cannula therewith, and a needle retraction member engaged with the hub for manually selectable advancement with respect to a portion of the housing. The needle retraction member may be advanced from an initial position in which at least a portion of the needle is disposed outside the housing, to a retracted position in which the needle is fully surrounded by the housing. The elongate plunger may be advanced about the hub for extracting the fluid into the reservoir or expelling the fluid from the reservoir.
Devices and Methods for Fluid Transfer Through a Placed Peripheral Intravenous Catheter
A transfer device includes an introducer coupleable to a peripheral intravenous catheter, with the introducer having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion, a catheter having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion and defining a lumen, a secondary catheter having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion and defining a lumen, and an actuator receiving the proximal end portion of the catheter and the distal end portion of the secondary catheter. The actuator is moveable within introducer from a first position where the distal end portion of the catheter is positioned within the introducer to a second position where the distal end portion of the catheter is positioned outside of the introducer.
Lancing device for obtaining samples of body fluid
The invention relates to a lancing device (1) for obtaining bodily fluid samples, comprising a base body (3), on one longitudinal-face end (6) of which a removable cap (12) is arranged which has a positioning face (8) with an outlet opening (7), a lancet magazine (4) for receiving at least one lancet (5), which is held replaceably in the base body (3), a drive device (14) for moving a lancet (5) arranged in the lancet magazine (4) back and forth in the direction of the longitudinal axis (2), said lancet being positioned therein in such a way that the tip thereof can exit the outlet opening (7) during the movement back and forth, wherein the lancet magazine (4) has a locking element (30) and the cap (12) has an unlocking element (31) formed to engage in the locking element (30).
Squeeze Activated Blood Collection Set
A shieldable needle device (12) with a needle cannula (28), a hub (44) supporting the needle cannula, and a tip guard (24) axially movable along the needle cannula where, upon transition, the tip guard protectively surrounds the distal end (42) of the needle cannula. The needle device includes a pair of wings (60) extending laterally from opposing sides of the tip guard and connected to the hub. The pair of wings are transitionable between a first position and a second position, wherein transition of the pair of wings advances the tip guard from a proximal position to a shielding distal position. The wings include protrusions (66) which cause the longitudinal axis of the needle cannula to become offset from the opening (52) of the tip guard during advancement of the tip guard preventing the needle cannula from being reinserted through the tip guard after the tip guard has been transitioned to the distal position.
Needle guard
A needle set includes a needle guard and a winged needle. The needle guard has upper and lower jaws, each of the upper and lower jaws defining a channel and coming together at a hinge. The upper and lower jaws are separated by slots in sides of the needle guard, which slots divide the sides into upper and lower side walls, respectively. The winged needle can be inserted between the upper and lower jaws, with wings of the winged needle passing through the slots. The hinge has an opening and a tube connected to the winged needle passes through the opening.
