Biological fluid separation device and biological fluid separation and testing system
A biological fluid separation device that is adapted to receive a multi-component blood sample is disclosed. After collecting the blood sample, the biological fluid separation device is able to separate a plasma portion from a cellular portion. After separation, the biological fluid separation device is able to transfer the plasma portion of the blood sample to a point-of-care testing device. The biological fluid separation device of the present disclosure also provides a closed separation and transfer system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample and provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer. The biological fluid separation device is engageable with a blood testing device for closed transfer of a portion of the plasma portion from the biological fluid separation device to the blood testing device. The blood testing device is adapted to receive the plasma portion to analyze the blood sample and obtain test results.
BLOOD SAMPLING SYSTEM AND METHOD
This disclosure relates to a system and method for drawing blood from a user by skin puncture instead of venous puncture and storing it for analysis. The system includes a receptacle configured to engage an area of skin of the user at a blood draw location and store blood drawn from the user; a lancet device disposed within the receptacle configured to puncture the skin of the user at the blood draw location; a vacuum device configured to reduce a pressure within the receptacle such that the skin at the blood draw location is drawn into the receptacle before the lancet device punctures the skin, and to enhance blood flow while blood is drawn from the user; and a housing configured to house the receptacle, the lancet device, and the vacuum device. The receptacle, the lancet device, and the vacuum device may be modular and removably coupled with the housing.

Medical device for collection of a biological sample
A biological fluid sampling device for collecting a blood sample from a separate vascular access device and for ejecting a portion of the collected sample to a point-of-care testing device for analysis is provided. The biological fluid sampling device includes a body enclosing a reservoir. The reservoir has an internal volume sufficient to contain enough blood for use in a diagnostic test. The sampling device further includes: an access lumen extending from a distal end of the body for establishing fluid communication between a separate vascular access device and the reservoir; an outflow lumen also in fluid communication with the reservoir; and a removable vented cap attached to the outflow lumen including a gas permeable vent in gaseous communication between the reservoir and ambient air. In addition, several sample and transfer devices are provided for obtaining a sample from a subject and transferring the sample to a point-of-care testing device.
Method for determination of an analyte concentration in a body fluid and analyte concentration measurement device
Disclosed is a method of using a handheld meter configured for determining an analyte concentration in a body fluid. In the inventive method, a handheld meter with a disposable test element is provided and the test element is positioned at an application site of the meter. A body fluid from a user's body part is applied to a reaction area of the test element and a series of measurement values from the reaction area of the test element is detected. A proximity sensor senses the presence of the body part in a monitored space in proximity to the reaction area of the test element. The measured values are processed as a function of an output signal of the proximity sensor. Consequently, bias in the determination of the analyte concentration caused by the presence of the body portion is reduced or eliminated. An associated handheld meter is also disclosed.
Blood Sampling Transfer Device
A blood sampling transfer device that includes a lancing tape having a flow channel and a transfer cartridge removably connected to the lancing tape is disclosed. The blood sampling transfer device provides a closed system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample to both skin and environment and provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer.

BLOOD SAMPLE GUIDING INSTRUMENT AND BLOOD TEST KIT
Provided are a blood sample guiding instrument and a blood test kit which enable blood ejected from a finger to be guided to a storing instrument. A blood sample guiding instrument used in a blood test kit includes a cylindrical body in which a first opening and a second opening communicating with the first opening are defined and which comes into contact with a finger; and a clamping portion that is attached to an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical body, clamps a finger, and presses the cylindrical body against the finger.
BLOOD GLUCOSE MANAGEMENT
This disclosure provides equipment and processes for blood glucose management. Embodiments may comprise a lancet device that includes a base that supports a lancet and a cover. The cover can move controllably from an un-depressed position to a depressed position when a predetermined force is applied. The cover can provide access to the lancet in the depressed position. In another aspect, a biological test kit may include a reusable module and a disposable module. The disposable module may include one or more lancet devices such as that described above to collect a biological sample, one or more strip stations supporting biological strips and a disposable module connector. The reusable module may support measuring equipment to measure a property of the biological sample and a reusable module connector that engages removably with the disposable module connector.
