BODY-INSERTION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME
A body-insertion device for a body includes an adjustment unit for adjusting bevel orientation of a needle, and a moving unit for the needle. The moving unit supports a needle unit having the needle, the bevel orientation of which is adjusted by the adjustment unit; adjusts the needle unit to the orientation which is appropriate for body-insertion; and moves the needle unit for body-insertion.
Intravenous therapy system for blood vessel detection
An intravenous therapy system may include a hollow needle comprising a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end comprising a sharp tip for insertion into a vein; an infrared (IR) camera placed within a hollow portion of the hollow needle, including: an IR detector; a first light source to emit a first wavelength of IR light; and a second light source to emit a second wavelength of IR light; a comparator to, upon execution of a processor communicatively coupled to the comparator, compare an amount of reflected light received at the IR detector during activation of the first light and second light and provide an indication of light absorption within a vein.
SENSING CATHETERS
A catheter system may include a catheter lumen, first and second electrodes, and a sensor in communication with the first and second electrodes. The sensor may be configured to detect at least one of: a bulk volume of blood within a blood vessel and extravasation of a drug from the blood vessel into soft tissue adjacent the blood vessel. Other catheter systems may include a catheter lumen and a sensing chip coupled to the catheter lumen. The sensing chip may be configured to detect at least one of: a bulk volume of blood within a blood vessel and extravasation of a drug from the blood vessel into soft tissue adjacent the blood vessel.
Apparatus for identifying and manipulating a blood vessel, and corresponding method
The invention relates to a detection apparatus and a method for detecting and manipulating a blood vessel under the skin of part of the body of a patient, which comprises a treatment chamber for accommodating the body part, a data processing control device, a vascular structure measuring device for detecting the position and/or dimensions of vascular structure data of the blood vessel in the treatment chamber by measurement, a vascular manipulation device for changing the position and/or dimension of the blood vessel, wherein the control device is designed to control the vascular manipulation device as a function of the vascular structure data.
RETRACTABLE NEEDLE WITH DAMPING
Various embodiments pertain to syringes having needles that automatically retract, and including syringe assemblies in which there is a means for damping any impact of the retracting needle, slowing the retracting needle, dissipating the kinetic energy of the needle, or the like, so as to lessen any jolt or disturbance experienced by the user.
BODY-INSERTION DEVICE
The present disclosure provides a body-insertion device for a body, which comprises a first moving unit for moving an image acquisition unit; an insertion unit; and a second moving unit for moving the insertion unit. The first moving unit comprises at least one of a 1-1 module for moving the image acquisition unit in a 1-1 direction, a 1-2 module for moving the image acquisition unit in a 1-2 direction, and a 1-3 module for moving the image acquisition unit in a 1-3 direction. The second moving unit comprises at least one of a 2-1 module for moving the insertion unit in a 2-1 direction, a 2-2 module for moving the insertion unit in a 2-2 direction, and a 2-3 module for moving the insertion unit in a 2-3 direction.
BLOOD SAMPLE OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM AND BLOOD CONTAMINANT SEQUESTRATION DEVICE AND METHOD
Blood sample optimization systems and methods are described that reduce or eliminate contaminates in collected blood samples, which in turn reduces or eliminates false positive readings in blood cultures or other testing of collected blood samples. A blood sample optimization system can include a blood sequestration device located between a patient needle and a sample needle. The blood sequestration device can include a sequestration chamber for sequestering an initial, potentially contaminated aliquot of blood, and may further include a sampling channel that bypasses the sequestration chamber to convey likely uncontaminated blood between the patient needle and the sample needle after the initial aliquot of blood is sequestered in the sequestration chamber.
HEMOLYSIS-REDUCTION ACCESSORIES FOR DIRECT BLOOD DRAW
A flow restriction device may include a housing with first and second end portions forming respective first and second openings, and a cavity configured to receive an insert body defining a fluid passage that extends from a first opening of the housing at the first end portion to a second opening of the housing at the second end portion, where the fluid passage extends in more than one direction along a path between the first and second end portions of the housing to induce a resistance to a fluid flow moving through the device, thereby reducing a flow rate and pressure of the fluid, and where the fluid is blood, reduce the hemolysis index of the blood.
Safety syringe having a manually activated retractable needle
A retractable needle assembly includes a housing having a sidewall defining a hollow bore, and an elongate plunger, the distal end of the plunger forming a reservoir within the hollow bore for containing a fluid therein. The plunger is adapted for slideable movement within the hollow bore. The assembly includes a hub disposed within the hollow bore and at least partially supporting a cannula therewith, and a needle retraction member engaged with the hub for manually selectable advancement with respect to a portion of the housing. The needle retraction member may be advanced from an initial position in which at least a portion of the needle is disposed outside the housing, to a retracted position in which the needle is fully surrounded by the housing. The elongate plunger may be advanced about the hub for extracting the fluid into the reservoir or expelling the fluid from the reservoir.
