ITERATIVE DIGITAL SUBTRACTION IMAGING FRO EMOBLIZATION PROCEDURES

Method and related system (IPS) for visualizing in particular a volume of a substance during its deposition at a region of interest (ROI). A difference image is formed from a projection image and a mask image. The difference image is then analyzed to derive more accurate motion information about a motion or shape of the substance. The method or system (IPS) is capable of operating in an iterative manner. The proposed system and method can be used for processing fluoroscopic X-ray frame acquired by an imaging arrangement (100) during an embolization procedure.

A radiography control apparatus includes a storage; a communicator that obtains irradiation information from an irradiation apparatus; and a hardware processor that: upon determining that the communicator obtains the irradiation information before a specific timing, executes image processing based on the irradiation information obtained from the communicator; and upon determining that the communicator does not obtain the irradiation information before the specific timing, executes the image processing based on information stored in advance in the storage.

Information processing apparatus, program for operating information processing apparatus, method for operating information processing apparatus, and mammography apparatus

A control device of a mammography apparatus includes an acquisition unit that acquires a radiographic image as radiography information in a case in which the radiographic image of the breast is captured and a generation condition setting unit that sets generation conditions in a case in which an ultrasound image of the breast is generated, on the basis of the radiographic image acquired by the acquisition unit. The generation condition setting unit analyzes the radiographic image to detect the amount of mammary glands in the breast and sets, as the generation conditions, an amplification factor of an ultrasound image signal and a dynamic range which is a width of a grayscale value of the ultrasound image assigned to a value of the ultrasound image signal, according to the detected amount of mammary glands.

An image acquisition unit acquires two radiographic images based on radiations which are transmitted through a subject containing a plurality of compositions and have energy distributions different from each other. A body thickness derivation unit derives, as a first body thickness and a second body thickness, body thicknesses of the subject for pixels of the two radiographic images. A composition ratio derivation unit derives composition ratios of the subject for the pixels of the radiographic images based on the first body thickness and the second body thickness.

GEOMETRIC CALIBRATION MARKER DETECTION IN SPECTRAL TOMOSYNTHESIS SYSTEM

A method for geometric calibration of a volume imaging apparatus disposes calibration phantom in a radiation path that includes a subject positioned between an x-ray source and a detector. The phantom has a number of radio-opaque markers formed of a marker material. In a repeated sequence, at each of a number of positional relationships of the x-ray source to the detector: 2D projection image data is acquired for the subject and the phantom, wherein the 2D projection image data distinguishes at least first and second x-ray energy distributions; source-to-detector geometry of the imaging apparatus is calculated, corresponding to the acquired 2D projection image data for the first and second x-ray energy distributions. The method reconstructs and displays a 3D volume image of the subject according to acquired anatomy image data from the subject and source-to-detector geometry within the 2D projection images.

Imaging with curved compression elements

A curved compression element, such as a breast compression paddle, and imaging systems and methods for use with curved compression elements. A system may include a radiation source, a detector, and a curved compression element. Operations are performed that include receiving image data from the detector; accessing a correction map for the at least one compression paddle; correcting the image data based on the correction map to generate a corrected image data; and generating an image of the breast based on the corrected image data. The breast compression element generally has no sharp edges, but rather has smooth edges and transitions between surfaces. The breast compression paddle also includes a flexible material that spans a portion of a curved bottom surface of the breast compression paddle to define a gap. The flexible material may be a thin-film material such as a shrink wrap.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING DEFLECTION OF FOAM BREAST COMPRESSION PADDLE

A method of imaging a breast compressed with a foam paddle includes emitting an x-ray energy from an x-ray source towards the breast and the foam paddle having a plurality of upper markers and a plurality of lower markers, wherein the plurality of lower markers are movable relative to the upper markers. The x-ray energy is detected at a detector disposed opposite the breast from the x-ray source. An image of the compressed breast is generated based on the detected x-ray energy. At least one of the plurality of upper markers and at least one of the plurality of lower markers is identified in the image. A thickness of the compressed breast at a plurality of thickness locations is determined, wherein each of the plurality of thickness locations corresponds to at least one of the plurality of lower markers.

RADIOGRAPHIC IMAGE CAPTURING SYSTEM, IMAGE PROCESSOR, AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

A radiographic image capturing system includes the following. A capturing stand includes a holder to hold radiographic image capturing devices. A radiation irradiator irradiates the radiographic image capturing devices loaded in the holder at once. An image processor generates a plurality of images based on image data acquired by the radiographic image capturing devices. The image processor removes a streaky component residing in the generated image to correct the image. Such process includes forming a smoothed image by smoothing with a low-pass filter, and subtracting an interpolation image to extract a streaky image from the smoothing image and adding the streaky image to remove the streaky component. The smoothing includes reflecting smoothing on pixels showing a subject structure using a low-pass filter with a size larger in the horizontal direction compared to pixels other than pixels showing the subject structure.

An X-ray fluoroscopic imaging apparatus which can accurately perform enhancement processing of a device and can also reduce a burden on an operator is provided. An exclusion region E is set so as to surround an obstacle on an X-ray image generated by an image generation unit. A marker extraction unit extracts a marker from a region except for an exclusion region in the X-ray image. An integration unit superimposes a predetermined number of X-ray images on the basis of the position of the marker to generate an integrated image. In this case, detecting obstacle as a marker can be avoided, so the integrated image becomes an image with a stent suitably highlighted. Even in cases where it is difficult to set the region-of-interest so that an obstacle falls out of the range, such as a case in which an obstacle overlaps or is in proximity to a stent, it is easy to set the exclusion region so that the marker is out of range and the obstacle falls within the range. Therefore, the enhancement processing of the stent can be suitably executed according to more various situations.
