The invention relates to an ultrasonic method for estimating a nonlinear shear wave elasticity of a medium, the method comprising the following steps: A1. a first collection step in which a first set comprising one shear wave elasticity data point of the medium is collected at a first level of deformation applied to the medium, A2. a second collection step in which a second set comprising one shear wave elasticity data point of the medium is collected at a second level of deformation applied to the medium different to the first level, A3. a deformation estimation step in which the difference of deformation between the first and the second level of deformation is estimated, B1. a calculation step in which a gradient between at least two data points respectively belonging to the first and the second set is calculated as a function of the difference of deformation between the first and the second level of deformation, B2. an elasticity estimation step in which the nonlinear shear wave elasticity of the medium is estimated as a function of the gradient.
Ultrasound imaging and therapy device
An ultrasound imaging and therapy device includes an array of concentric annular ultrasound transducers, and an ultrasound imaging device situated inside an innermost transducer of the plurality of concentric annular ultrasound transducers, wherein it further comprises a mechanical linkage allowing a tilting movement of the array of concentric annular ultrasound transducers with respect to the ultrasound imaging device and in that the ultrasound imaging device protrudes in an axial direction from the array of concentric annular ultrasound transducers; whereby the ultrasound imaging device can be kept stationary and in direct or indirect contact with a patient's skin while the array of concentric annular ultrasound transducers is tilted so as to move a focal point of ultrasound waves generated by the concentric annular ultrasound transducers within an imaging region of the ultrasound imaging device.
PUNCTURE ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
A puncture assistance system provides information on a collapse state of a blood vessel to be punctured, caused by pressing action of an ultrasonic probe, when ultrasonic images of the blood vessel are acquired. A puncture assistance system 10 includes: vascular diameter detecting means 18 for detecting a vascular diameter during acquisition of the ultrasonic images from an ultrasonic diagnostic device 11; puncture assistance information generating means 12 for generating puncture assistance information for determination of whether or not puncture is allowed to be performed based on a collapse state of a blood vessel B caused by pressing action of an ultrasonic probe 15 against skin S by comparing a current vascular diameter detected by the vascular diameter detecting means 18 with a standard vascular diameter stored in advance; and a monitor 19 that presents the puncture assistance information.
ASCERTAINING TISSUE THICKNESS
Embodiments described herein include apparatus that includes an electrical interface and a processor. The processor is configured to receive, via the electrical interface, a first signal that indicates a time-varying force that was applied to a portion of tissue, and one or more second signals that are derived from ultrasound reflections received from the portion of tissue. The processor is further configured to learn, from the first signal and the second signals, a dependency of a thickness of the portion of tissue on the force applied to the portion of tissue. Other embodiments are also described.
Anatomically intelligent echochardiography for point-of-care
An apparatus includes an imaging probe and is configured for dynamically arranging presentation of visual feedback for guiding manual adjustment, via the probe, of a location, and orientation, associated with the probe. The arranging is selectively based on comparisons between fields of view of the probe and respective results of segmenting image data acquired via the probe. In an embodiment, the apparatus includes a sensor which guides a decision that acoustic coupling quality is insufficient, the apparatus issuing a user alert upon the decision.
Ultrasound imaging system and method for determining acoustic contact
An ultrasound imaging system and method includes acquiring ultrasound image data of an object while translating the ultrasound probe, where the ultrasound probe includes a scanning surface. The ultrasound imaging system and method includes displaying an acquisition view during the process of acquiring the panoramic ultrasound data. The ultrasound imaging system and method includes automatically determining acoustic contact of the scanning surface with the object while acquiring the panoramic ultrasound data and displaying a color-coded indicator at the same time as the acquisition view, where the color-coded indicator represents the acoustic contact of the scanning surface in real-time during the process of acquiring the panoramic ultrasound data.
Method and apparatus for selecting power states in an ultrasound imaging system
An ultrasound imaging system includes a processor that is programmed to operate the system in a normal operating state and two or more lesser power states. The processor lowers the operating power state to a lesser power state upon detecting one or more operating conditions such as no tissue been imaged in a predetermined time limit or that the imaging system or transducer has not been moved in a time limit. Upon awakening from a power off state, the processor implements a lesser power state before operating at the normal operating state to avoid undue power use until the transducer is positioned to image tissue.
CONSTANT FORCE ULTRASOUND PROBE HANDLE
A probe is provided and is configured for placement against and for movement along a body of interest and is configured to control and minimize compressive forces induced by the probe on the body of interest. The probe includes a probe handle portion that includes an outer probe housing and a probe head portion that is movably disposed within the outer probe housing. The probe head portion has a first end that defines a contact surface for placement along the body of interest. The probe head portion further has an extension that protrudes outwardly therefrom a second end of the probe head portion that is opposite the first end. The probe has at least one constant force spring that is coupled to the outer probe housing and to the probe head portion and is configured to apply a force to the probe head portion in a distal direction for maintaining the probe in position against a surface of interest during examination thereof, while permitting axial movement of the probe head portion within the outer probe housing. The constant force spring comprises at least one rolled ribbon spring that is wound about at least one pulley that is coupled to the extension of the probe head portion and moves axially together with the probe head portion within and relative to the outer probe housing.
