Handle systems and methods for endodontic tools
A handle system for supporting a tool defining a tool axis during the performance of dental procedures comprises a handle defining a handle axis, a rotation sleeve, a head assembly and a gear set comprising first and second gear portions. The rotation sleeve supports the first gear portion. The head assembly supports the second gear portion. The handle supports the rotation sleeve for rotation relative to the handle. The handle supports the head assembly such that the first gear portion engages the second gear portion. With the head assembly supported by the handle, the head assembly engages the tool to support the tool such that the tool axis extends at a first angle relative to the handle axis and rotation of the rotation sleeve relative to the handle causes axial rotation of the tool about the tool axis.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR TREATING PERIIMPLANTITIS USING UVC
The disclosure is directed to systems and methods for treatment of periimplantitis using ultraviolet light. In some embodiments, the ultraviolet light is ultraviolet c light with a wavelength between 100 and 280 nanometers. In some embodiments, the ultraviolet c light makes the surface of the implant hydrophilic and more receptive to cell protein attachment. In some embodiments, an apparatus for treating periimplantitis using ultraviolet light includes a handpiece with a flexible neck and a rotatable tip at the end of the flexible neck. In some embodiments, the handpiece includes a contra angle dental handpiece or a straight dental handpiece which can couple to and direct ultraviolet light from either an end firing tip or a side firing tip. In some embodiments, the handpiece is sized to enable UVC light to be directed to an exposed area of an implant facing toward one or more posterior portions of the oral cavity.
DENTAL HANDPIECE
A dental handpiece configured to rotatably drive a dental treatment tool mounted in a chuck mechanism includes the chuck mechanism in which the dental treatment tool is mounted so as to be attachable and detachable. The chuck mechanism includes a hollow cylindrical sleeve, a cylindrical slide member, a plurality of divided movable pieces disposed in the sleeve, an elastic biasing member configured to bias the cylindrical slide member forward in an insertion direction of the dental treatment tool, and a stopper unit which restricts forward axial movement of the plurality of divided movable pieces in the insertion direction. The divided movable pieces are moved in a radial direction by relative movement between the divided movable pieces and the cylindrical slide member in the axial direction, so that fixation of the dental treatment tool and release of the fixation are performed.
ENDODONTIC HANDPIECE WITH ROTATIONAL AND VERTICAL MOTION
An endodontic handpiece including a handpiece body defining a neck portion extending to a head portion which defines a chamber with an opening therefrom. A chalk is positioned in the chamber and includes a cylindrical body having a longitudinal axis, a retainer for holding an endodontic tool co-axially with the cylindrical body, and a pin receiving bore defined in the cylindrical body transverse to the longitudinal axis. A shaft is rotatably supported within the neck portion and having a pin extending from an end thereof and received in the pin receiving bore of the chalk. The pin is offset from a central axis of the shaft such that rotation of the shaft causes the chalk to move downwardly, rotate in a clockwise direction, move upwardly and rotate in a counter-clockwise direction over each 360° rotation of the shaft.
Dental handpiece and prophy angle
A combination includes a dental handpiece and a prophy angle. The dental handpiece includes a nosecone threadably connected to the dental handpiece. The prophy angle includes a proximal body that matingly attaches to the nosecone. A plurality of elongated torque members are formed on each of the prophy angle proximal body and the nosecone. Each of the torque members is a male torque member or a female torque member and each male torque member formed on one of the prophy angle proximal body and the nosecone matingly couples with a female torque member formed on the other of the nosecone and the prophy angle proximal body. The prophy angle, including the plurality of elongated torque members formed on the prophy angle, is formed to also be attachable to a known standard doriot-style nosecone. Other specific features of the handpiece and prophy angle are also disclosed.
Prophy angle and adapter with guard
A dental system comprises a dental prophy angle and an adjustable angle adapter. The prophy angle includes a housing and a guard with a concave inner surface. The adapter is configured to drive the prophy angle and the adapter includes a body, a nose, and an outer joint. The nose is configured to receive a portion of a prophy angle. The body is adjustably connected to the nose. The outer joint includes a ball portion connected to the nose, and a ball receiver positioned on the body. The ball receiver includes a first portion coupled to a first end of the body and a second portion attachable to the first portion. The nose is rotatable relative to the body into at least a first configuration and a second configuration. The concave inner surface of the guard engages a convex outer surface of the ball receiver.
Hand piece for dental or surgical applications
A handpiece for dental or surgical applications has a chuck for rotatably clamping a tool such as a bur, the chuck being drivingly connectable to a drive mechanism such as to rotate the tool about a rotation axis thereof, a push button operatively connected to the chuck, configured to release the tool from the chuck upon depressing the push button, a spherical element, preferably a ball, fitted within or mounted at the push button, arranged and configured such that, when the push button is depressed, the spherical element enters into contact with the chuck, the spherical element being of a material with a high hardness on the Vickers scale of >2000.
Shaft of a dental tool
The present invention refers to a shaft of a dental tool comprising a distal end region, a cylindrical shaft region adjoining the distal end region, and a proximal end region which lies opposite the distal end region and which is provided with a polygonal profile that tapers conically in the direction of the distal end region and adjoins a tool part.
DENTAL OR SURGICAL HANDPIECE WITH AN RFID TRANSPONDER
The invention provides for a dental or surgical handpiece with an elongated handle sleeve (110) and a head piece (50) attached to the front end of the handle sleeve (110) that serves to to detachably receive a dental tool as well as for a clamping mechanism (20) formed in the head piece (50) to detachably hold the tool, the clamping mechanism (20) having a push-button (10) for actuating the clamping mechanism (20). The handpiece further has an RFID transponder (5) for identifying the handpiece. The push-button (10) consists of a heat-insulating electrically non-conductive plastic or m ceramic material with a plate-shaped recess that holds the RFID transponder (5). The push-button (10) has a flat round shape so that the RFID transponder (5), because of the equally flat round shape of its coil, can be integrated very well into it. Particularly advantageous ambient electrical conditions can be achieved for the RFID transponder as the push-button (10) is made of an electrically non-conductive material. An advantageous thermal insulation is provided as the push-button (10) is made of a heat-insulating material.
Medical/dental handpiece
A medical/dental handpiece comprises a housing having distal portion, the head portion having a bottom surface defining an opening. A motor and a light source are positioned with the handpiece, and the handpiece removably receives a light guide in alignment with the light source, to receive light from the light source. The light guide includes a probe which can be positioned adjacent or within a treatment area. The handpiece can be operated to activate only the light source, such that light is directed through the probe to or into the treatment area, to activate only the motor to rotationally or reciprocatingly drive the light guide, or to activate both the light source and the motor.
