The cordless dental gas/water syringe includes a portable or wearable body. The body includes a water chamber, a water pump, a gas chamber, a gas valve, a water switch, a gas switch, and a conduit system for fluidic connection. The body can also include a controller including a touch panel and/or a button for controlling the gas switch, the water switch, the gas valve, and/or the water pump.

Adapter and tip for an air and water dental syringe device

A dental syringe device that provides air and water to a dental patient. The device includes an adapter that connects a dental tip to a dental syringe body. The dental syringe body provides a conventional syringe body with a handle for a dentist to hold onto and a source of air and water. The tip delivers the air and water to the dental patient. The adapter is an improved adapter having a unique release and attachment component allowing for a quick connect and disconnect between the dental syringe body and the tip. The tip advantageously includes an inner portion with large and uniform air channels for smooth transfer of air and an outer portion made from a rigid plastic that provides an improved cheek retraction feature.

Systems and methods for removal of dental biofilm using irrigation

Systems and methods for cleaning teeth by removal of dental biofilm. In one illustrative embodiment, a custom fit tray that fits over the teeth and seals against the gum of a mammal. A number of ports are embedded in the tray, each in fluid communication with a hose or line supplied with either a vacuum or an irrigant/fluid source. A small space between the tray and the teeth provides for fluid to flow around the teeth. A router may be connected to both an irrigant fluid supply reservoir and a vacuum pump to direct either fluid or vacuum to the various hoses with the routing changing over time for optimum cleaning. Air may be injected into the cleaning fluid in varying amounts, to create bubbles, water droplets, and/or boluses of the cleaning fluid to increase and focus the hydrodynamic forces of the fluid upon reaching the teeth.

DENTAL TREATMENT SYSTEM

A dental treatment system can include a console, a tooth coupler, and an interface member that provides at least one of fluidic, electrical, mechanical, and data communication between the tooth coupler and the console. The tooth coupler (which may comprise a handpiece or a treatment cap) can act as a working end of the system to administer a suitable treatment procedure, such as a cleaning procedure, an obturation procedure, a restoration procedure, etc. The tooth coupler can removably engage the interface member such that the clinician can easily engage and disengage the tooth coupler and interface member.

Dental prophylaxis device and air appliance

A dental prophylaxis and air appliance having a pressurized air source, a hand piece, and a manually actuated slurry container containing a mixture of dry or wetted abrasive and non-abrasive components. The compressed air is delivered to the hand piece by a line that combines the compressed air with the components and discharges the post-mixed water slurry of abrasive or non-abrasive components. The hand piece is configured to include a series of valves adapted to define one or more stages for containing components and encourage mixing thereof during operation.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR BIOFILM DISINFECTION

A method (30) for disinfection of a biofilm layer comprises thinning (34) the biofilm layer from an initial thickness to below a given thickness. The method further includes actively drying (36) the thinned biofilm layer for a predetermined active drying interval to disinfect and remove a substantial portion of the body of biofilm bacteria of the thinned biofilm layer. A device (50) for disinfection of a biofilm layer is configured for implementing the method.

ADJUSTABLE ASSEMBLY AND NOZZLE FOR PROVIDING VARIOUS LIQUID/AIR OUTPUT FLOW PATTERNS

A oral irrigator device (10) for cleaning teeth, including a system (14) for producing a stream of liquid/air bursts and a nozzle (16) connected to the system, and through which the stream of liquid/air bursts are directed. The nozzle can include a guidance tip (26) including a base portion (30), a tip portion (28), and an orifice (31) through which the stream of liquid/air bursts exits at a flow output pattern, and a flow output pattern selection mechanism (90, 90′) connected to or positioned within the guidance tip. A flow output pattern selection mechanism can be configured to be selectively actuated and to vary, upon the actuation the flow output pattern between a first flow output pattern to at least a second flow output pattern.

Systems and methods for personalized oral irrigation

Described herein are systems and methods for providing personalized oral irrigation. One variation of a system for personalized oral irrigation comprises a fluid reservoir and a customized oral insert in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir. The oral insert comprises an arrangement of fluid openings positioned based on the individual oral or dental structures of a user's teeth to provide a customized fluid flow over the user's teeth. Also described herein are methods for generating an arrangement of fluid openings in a customized oral insert.

A super-fine bubble generation apparatus includes a fine-array porous membrane and a device for generating substantially uniform, super-fine gas bubbles in a liquid. The fine-array porous membrane includes a plurality of pores having a substantially uniform size of <100 μm, with a variation of <20%. The super-fine gas bubbles generated by this apparatus can have a size of 50 nm-50000 nm, with a substantially uniform distribution with variations <20%. Applications of such super-fine bubble generation apparatus can include a skin cleansing device, or a teeth-cleaning device.

IRRIGATOR FLUIDIC COMMUNICATION

An oral irrigator having an irrigator tip, the tip including a handle portion, a tip portion, a channel in fluid communication with the tether and arranged within the handle portion and the tip portion, and an actuator located on or within the handle portion, the actuator arranged to at least partially altar a flow of a fluid through the channel. The oral irrigator further includes a housing, the housing having a reservoir in fluid communication with a pump sub-assembly, a sensor arranged to measure a first pressure or first electrical load within the pump sub-assembly, and a control unit arranged to control an operational current provided to the pump sub-assembly where operation of the actuator produces a second pressure or electrical load measured by the sensor and the control unit is arranged to alter the operational current of the motor in response to the change.
