Direct fabrication of aligners for arch expansion

Systems, methods, and devices for producing appliances for expansion of the arch of a patient are provided. An arch expanding appliance comprises a force generating portion to apply an arch expansion force and a retention portion to hold the force generating portion on the teeth. The retention portion comprises a flexible portion and a stiff portion. The force generating portion applies a force to move teeth associated with the flexible portion, while the stiff portion resists movement of its associated teeth. The orthodontic appliances can be designed according to the specifications provided herein and manufactured using direct fabrication methods.

METHODS OF FORMING DENTAL POSITIONING APPLIANCES
20230000597 · 2023-01-05 ·

Methods of forming dental positioning appliances, such as removable mesh dental appliances. Methods may include forming one or more dies based on a digital three-dimensional model of one or more teeth. Methods may include applying a mesh material onto one or more dies having a three-dimensional shape corresponding to one or more teeth and shaping the mesh material via interaction with the one or more dies to conform to one or more surfaces of one or more teeth. The mesh material may be shaped to conform to an inside, an outside, and/or a biting surface of one or more teeth. The methods may include encapsulating the shaped mesh material into a polymer shell to form a dental positioning appliance.

METHOD OF MAKING AN ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE
20230012364 · 2023-01-12 ·

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an orthodontic appliance, including the following steps: producing a scanned image of a row of teeth in an initial position; then in a position sought; then producing of a scanned image of the orthodontic appliance, the appliance including an orthodontic arch and at least one fastening element for attachment to a tooth. The orthodontic device is configured for being assembled to the row of teeth in the initial position, so that the arch will take a planar shape when the row has moved into the position sought. The method further includes the following steps: producing a scanned image of the orthodontic arch in the planar shape; then manufacturing the arch from the image by cutting a plate of solid shape memory material.

Dental appliances, systems and methods

An orthodontic appliance and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the present technology includes a positioning member configured to position an orthodontic appliance during installation in the patient's mouth. The positioning member may comprise a first portion configured to be coupled to the patient's teeth and a second portion extending away from the first portion. The second portion may be configured to be detachably coupled to the orthodontic appliance. While the positioning member is coupled to the orthodontic appliance, the positioning member is configured to be positioned in the patient's mouth and coupled to the patient's teeth, thereby positioning the orthodontic appliance at a desired location adjacent a patient's oral anatomy.

DENTAL TOOL

A dental tool has a body and a working element. The body has a connecting portion and a measuring portion. The connecting portion is disposed on an end of the body. The measuring portion is formed on an external surface of the body opposite to the connecting portion. The working element is connected to the body and has a connecting end and a working end. The connecting end of the working element is connected to the connecting portion of the body. The working end of the working element is connected to the connecting end of the working element and extends out of the connecting portion. The working element of the dental tool provides a detection effect, and the measuring portion of the body provides a measurement effect.

RECTANGULAR-RETAINED-ARCH AND APPLYING METHODS

A novel orthodontic apparatus is disclosed. The novel apparatus can be referred as a rectangular-retained arch (RRA). Examples of RRA can be used for stabilizing a new configuration of teeth so that the teeth do not move to an incorrect position. An example of RRA can have a shape of arch that is made of a single piece of material. Some embodiments of RRA can have a plurality of holes along the RRA.

Orthodontic bracket

One aspect of the present invention is a self-ligation type orthodontic bracket which has a simple structure and in which a shutter can be reliably opened and closed, and fixed. The orthodontic bracket is provided with: a bracket body having a slot to which a wire is attached and an introduction port connected to the slot; a shutter provided between the slot and the introduction port to be able to move forward and backward; and a stopper wire which is attached to the bracket body and prevents the shutter from detaching. The stopper wire is elastic. Both end parts of the stopper wire are supported by the bracket body. When the shutter is closed, the central part of the stopper wire is located at a position which blocks the path along which the shutter moves forward and backward.

A dental tool or instrument having a shank located adjacent a first end thereof and a working area located adjacent an opposite second end. At least one elongate cut is formed along the working area and a memorized shape, having at least one protrusion, is formed in the working area. The dental tool or instrument is manufactured from a nitinol wire which initially has a transition temperature that is below room temperature, while the dental tool or instrument, following manufacture, has a final transition temperature of about 90.5±4 degrees Fahrenheit (i.e., 32.5±3 degrees Celsius). When the dental tool or instrument is at a temperature below its final transition temperature, the dental tool instrument is moldable to facilitate insertion into a root canal, but as soon as the dental tool or instrument is at or above the final transition temperature, the dental tool instrument automatically adopts the memorized shape.
