A transoral ultrasound probe for imaging a temporomandibular joint and a method of imaging a temporomandibular joint using a transoral probe.

Dynamic virtual articulator for simulating occlusion of teeth

Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of using a dynamic virtual articulator for simulating occlusion of teeth, when performing computer-aided designing of one or more dental restorations for a patient, where the method includes the steps of: providing the virtual articulator including a virtual three-dimensional model of the upper jaw and a virtual three-dimensional model of the lower jaw resembling the upper jaw and lower jaw, respectively, of the patient's mouth; providing movement of the virtual upper jaw and the virtual lower jaw relative to each other for simulating dynamic occlusion, whereby collisions between teeth in the virtual upper and virtual lower jaw occur; wherein the method further includes: providing that the teeth in the virtual upper jaw and virtual lower jaw are blocked from penetrating each other's virtual surfaces in the collisions.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GUIDING DENTAL IMAGING

Methods and apparatuses for positioning of dental imaging devices, such as X-rays, CTs and ultrasound imaging devices. These methods and apparatuses may use an initial intraoral scan of a patient's dentition taken, e.g., using a visible light and/or infrared source, and generate an imaging plan and/or guide(s) for taking one or more penetrative images, such as X-ray images, of the patient's dentition using the intraoral scan data.

METHOD OF DETECTING AN ABNORMALITY ALONG A PORTION OF A DENTAL ARCH

At least one embodiment of a method for a method of detecting an abnormality along a portion of a dental arch using scanning material comprising an ultrasonic periodontal probe configured for emitting ultrasound signals within at least one emitting cone and for receiving corresponding echoed ultrasound signals, the method comprising moving the probe along a portion of the dental arch, while moving the probe along the portion of the dental arch: emitting an ultrasound signal within the emitting cone; measuring echoed ultrasound signals; detecting at least one anatomical structure to be investigated; measuring at least one predetermined feature of the at least one detected anatomical structure to obtain a value of the measurement of the at least one predetermined feature characterizing the detected anatomical structure; detecting an abnormality as a function of a threshold and the value of the measurement of the predetermined feature of the at least one detected anatomical structure.

METHOD FOR SCANNING MATERIAL USING AN ULTRASONIC IMAGING PROBE

At least one embodiment of a method for scanning material using a dental ultrasonic imaging probe comprising an ultrasonic device configured for emitting ultrasound signals within at least two emitting cones and for receiving corresponding echoed ultrasound signals, the at least two emitting cones extending in different directions, the method comprising: receiving an item of information relating to a direction for emitting an ultrasound signal; selecting one of the received corresponding echoed ultrasound signals or the ultrasound signals to be emitted as a function of the received item of information.

ULTRASONIC PERIODONTAL PROBE

At least one embodiment of an ultrasonic periodontal probe, the ultrasonic periodontal probe comprising a grip portion having a longitudinal axis, a support member comprising a part having a longitudinal axis different from the longitudinal axis of the grip portion, and an ultrasonic device fastened to the grip portion via the support member, wherein the ultrasonic device is configured for emitting ultrasound signals within at least two emitting cones and for receiving corresponding echoed ultrasound signals, the at least two emitting cones extending in opposite directions with regard to a plane comprising the longitudinal axis of the grip portion.

A dental imager includes an elongated handle with a rotatable head coupled to a distal end thereof and having a central platform with a plurality of arcuate scanning arms pivotally coupled thereto by a hinge. The arcuate scanning arms are of a shape and size for general deployment around a tooth and each include at least one scanner and a roller guide that comfortably rolls along the surface of the tooth or gums to bias the scanners a desired distance from the surface of the tooth, conducive for imaging thereof. In this respect, such a dental imager may be used in a process to scan and record the contours of an intraoral surface, the data of which may be used to create a digital three-dimensional surface impression printable by a 3D printer or the like.

Ultrasound probe and device for 3D imaging of the jaw

This invention concerns an ultrasonic dental imaging probe (1), typically comprising several transducers (4) arranged to operate as a transmitter and a receiver, and in particular arranged to transmit ultrasonic waves at a frequency of at least 10 MHz, and optionally several transducers (4) arranged to operate as a transmitter and a receiver and arranged to transmit ultrasonic waves at a frequency of less than 4 MHz. The transducers are mounted on a flexible support (3), secured to a rigid frame (2) typically in a “U” shape. The invention also concerns a device comprising one such probe.
