The present invention relates to a medical fixation apparatus for a lesion. According to an embodiment, a medical cast comprises: an expansion band having a predetermined length; a pair of elastic fibers which are coupled to opposite widthwise edges of the expansion band, are coated with a water-curable synthetic resin, and can surround a body part; and a plurality of coupling units, which have a flat shape and, when the pair of elastic fibers surround a body part, are arranged at a predetermined interval along an edge at which the pair of elastic fibers face each other to connect the pair of elastic fibers.

A system and method for donning and labeling a body cast provides a protective body cast that is labeled. The system and method provides a protective body cast that forms padded protection around the body of a bedridden patient; and especially around the hip, buttock, and lower extremity pressure points. The body cast is composed of a nanomaterial and serves as an envelope for an inner lining of a softer material such as a composite foam rubber. The body cast is sectioned into a multi-layered enclosing cloth support wrap that is fabricated from a nanomaterial, an inner surface having padding, and at least one auxiliary padding that detachably attaches to the body cast for additional padding. Labels detachably attach to the lower portion of the support wrap for indicating information pertinent to the patient. A caregiver accesses the label to read and mark directly on a bedridden patient.

A method and system for creating a custom-fit orthopedic cast comprises obtaining at least one measurements taken from at least one image of a body part, selecting a template cast, modifying the template cast according to the measurements taken from the at least one image to generate a custom cast model and rendering a custom cast based on the custom cast model.

A casting tape package system is provided comprising an outer package defining a first interior portion enclosing a casting tape substrate including curable casting formulation and a second interior portion enclosing a curing agent. In certain embodiments, the curing agent is separated from the casting tape substrate by a barrier which is breakable to release the curing agent to activate the curable casting formulation.

A disposable Cast and Intravenous (IV) Medical Shower System for protecting casted and/or IV therapy injected appendages from moisture while a patient is showering or bathing. A portable thermoshapable fabric composite heating device kit mainly comprises a portable heating device and a thermoshapable fabric composite; wherein the portable heating device includes a first box body and a second box body disposed above or inside the first box body. A heating space formed between the bottoms of the two box body bodies is used to accommodate a heating pack. The thermoshapable fabric composite can be accommodated within a receiving space of the second box body. After water is added into the first box body to flood the heating pack, and a lid is placed to cover the top, the heat-generating material in the heating pack contacts the water to generate water vapor during an exothermic reaction. The water vapor enters the receiving space, in which the thermoshapable fabric composite is stored, through the multiple pores at the bottom of the second box body. The generated thermal energy will heat the thermoshapable fabric composite without the need for open flame or electricity. That is, the thermoshapable fabric composite can be heated and softened, so that the thermoshapable fabric composite can be used in the field without reliance on external elements, such as conventional heating or electricity, in order to achieve the purpose of providing first aid such as bandaging and fixation, and to prevent secondary injuries.

An orthopedic cast system, which includes: a padding layer configured to be disposed within the cast and support a portion of a patient's limb; a casting material configured to harden around the padding layer and form an outer shell of the cast surrounding the patient's limb; and a cutting wire configured to be disposed within the cast and extend along a longitudinal axis of the cast. A total contact cast including a cutting wire between the patient's skin and the casting material forming an outer shell of the cast, as described herein, allows for easy and safe removal of the cast by pulling at least one end of the cutting wire in a direction of the opposite end of the cutting wire so as to cut through the outer shell of the cast.

A casting tape package system is provided comprising an outer package defining a first interior portion enclosing a casting tape substrate including curable casting formulation and a second interior portion enclosing a curing agent. In certain embodiments, the curing agent is separated from the casting tape substrate by a barrier which is breakable to release the curing agent to activate the curable casting formulation.

An orthopedic cast splitter apparatus for splitting an orthopedic cast may include a frame, a handle pivotally coupled to the frame, a drive rod configured to translate relative to the frame, and a jaws. The jaws may include a first plate coupled to the frame, and a second plate coupled to the drive rod and extending parallel to the first plate, with the second plate being configured to translate relative to the first plate. The jaws also may include a first tooth removably coupled to the first plate and extending beyond an end of the first plate, and a second tooth removably coupled to the second plate and extending beyond an end of the second plate, with the first tooth and the second tooth being configured to be inserted within a fissure formed in the orthopedic cast.

A medical cast protective structure apparatus and methods are used to protect against unsanitary contamination of a medical cast. A medical cast has a hardened exterior layer and a plush interior layer. A water-resistant fabric cover has a substantially cylindrical shape and is positioned over at least a portion of an exterior of the medical cast and a terminating end of the medical cast. An annular pocket is formed in a first end of the fabric cover, wherein the first end of the fabric cover is positioned abutting the plush interior layer of the medical cast. A biasable clip is positioned within the annular pocket, wherein the biasable clip is movable between collapsed and expanded states, wherein in the expanded state, the annular pocket with biasable clip therein contacts the plush interior layer of the medical cast and is retained in a substantially stationary position relative to the medical cast.
