The IOL cartridge comprises a nozzle and a housing comprising a slide. A compartment configured to receive an IOL is disposed within the housing. An interior portion of the slide is exposed to the compartment. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the compartment. The cap covers the nozzle and the slide. The cap is configured to expose the nozzle and advance the slide to fold the IOL upon removal of the cap.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTRAOCULAR LENS DEPLOYMENT

An intraocular lens (IOL) insertion apparatus may include a handpiece body having a distal tip and a deployment chamber located at a distal end of the handpiece body. The deployment chamber is sized and shaped to hold a folded IOL. The IOL insertion apparatus further includes a deployment system disposed within the handpiece body. The deployment system may include a deployment carriage movable between a first position and a second position within the handpiece body. The deployment carriage may include a biasing element that biases the deployment carriage in a distal direction toward the distal tip. The deployment system may further include a deployment trigger that prevents distal movement of the deployment carriage unless pressed and a deployment plunger having a proximal end secured to the deployment carriage and a distal end to engage the folded IOL.

INTRAOCULAR LENS INJECTOR

An intraocular lens (IOL) injectors and associated methods are described. The IOL injectors may include a collapsible portion configured to reduce the length of the IOL injector when the collapsible portion is altered from an uncollapsed configuration to a collapsed configuration. In some instances, an IOL may be advanced from a storage location to a dwell location when the collapsible portion is altered from the uncollapsed configuration to the collapsed configuration. The IOL injectors may also include a combination push and screw drive.

Injector assembly for inserting an intraocular lens

Provided is an injector assembly, comprising: —an injector, which has a plunger and a cannula and is designed to move an intraocular lens through the cannula by means of a translational motion of the plunger; —a magnetic coupling; and—a drive unit, which has a first coupling half of the magnetic coupling, a motor, which is designed to drive the first coupling half into a first rotational motion, and a housing, within which the first coupling half and the motor are encapsulated and which has an annular housing portion, which delimits a channel having a circular cross-section. The injector has a second coupling half of the magnetic coupling, and the injector and the second coupling half are arranged in the channel. The first coupling half is arranged around the annular housing portion and is thus designed to perform the first rotational motion around the annular housing portion and thus to drive the second coupling half into a second rotational motion by means of a magnetic field of the magnetic coupling, which magnetic field penetrates the annular housing portion. The injector is designed to convert the second rotational motion into the translational motion of the plunger.

Plunger apparatus comprising a housing, a plunger, a source of stored mechanical energy, a rotatable element and an actuator. Rotation of the rotatable element provides a controlled release of the plunger for the movement of the plunger, under force provided by the source of stored mechanical energy. The actuator allows operation, by an operator, of the plunger apparatus to induce rotation of the rotatable element relative to the housing to provide a controlled release of the plunger for axial movement of the plunger under the force provided by the source of stored mechanical energy.
