MEDICAL DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MEASURING MUSCULOSKELETAL PARAMETERS
A measurement device is disclosed that includes a first component having an outer surface having one or more flexible articular surfaces, and an inner surface having a first area having protrusions defining a polygon with a plurality of vertices. A load plate can be in contact with the first area. A printed circuit board can have a central section and a first lateral section. The first lateral section can have a sensor array having a plurality of sensors. Each sensor can be positioned in alignment with a vertex of the polygon and having a load pad in contact with a lower surface of the rigid load plate. A reference sensor can be spaced from the lower surface of the load plate.
Dynamic Bone Loading TKA
A joint prosthesis assembly includes a stem that includes a first end, a second end, and a length that extends between the first and second ends. The stem includes a cylindrical opening that extends into the second end along a portion of the length and terminates within the stem so as to form a base surface that defines an end of the cylindrical opening. The assembly also includes a joint component that has an articular side, a bone contact side, and a cylindrical boss that extends from the bone contact side. The boss is slidingly receivable within the cylindrical opening so that, when the stem and joint component are implanted, the stem is unconstrained in an axial direction and constrained by the stem in a direction transverse to the axial direction.
PROVISIONAL TIBIAL PROSTHESIS SYSTEM
The present disclosure provides a provisional tibial prosthesis system for a set of prosthetic knee joints for implantation in a natural knee, the provisional tibial prosthesis system including a bearing component and a bearing support, the spacing of the bearing component from the bearing support is adjustable to allow for representation of a variety of different sized final tibial prostheses. In this system, only one provisional bearing component corresponding to each level of constraint is needed and shims are used to adjust the spacing of the bearing component from the beating support. The shims are slidably insertable between the bearing component and the bearing support in an anterior/posterior direction to allow for adjustment of the spacing of the bearing component from the bearing support. The number of provisional components needed during knee surgery is reduced and adjustment of the system only requires the knee joint to be distracted by a distance equal to the height of a particular shim.
TIBIAL PROSTHESIS
A tibial, prosthesis, and, particularly, a fixed bearing tibial, prosthesis has a two-pronged securement mechanism. The securement mechanism may or may not be angled. Advantageously, the securement mechanism, working alone or in cooperation with other securement features, minimizes micromotion between the tibial tray and tibial hearing component.
ASYMMETRIC TIBIAL COMPONENTS FOR A KNEE PROSTHESIS
An orthopaedic tibial prosthesis includes a tibial baseplate with features designed for use with small-stature knee-replacement patients. The tibial prosthesis may include a shortened tibial keel, tibial keel fins which define a large angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of the keel, and/or tibial keel fins which extend along less than the entire longitudinal extent of the keel.
METHOD FOR RESTORING BONE USING SHAPEABLE BONE GRAFT SUBSTITUTE AND INSTRUMENTS FOR DELIVERY THEREOF
Disclosed is directed to a method for restoring bone in an animal comprising: accessing a site to be restored; loading a syringe body with a flowable bone graft material; mating the syringe body with a delivery tube; positioning the delivery tube at the site to be restored; using a syringe piston to advance the said material into the delivery tube; using the syringe piston or a plunger that mates with the delivery tube after removal of the syringe body to deliver the bone graft to the site at a force of less than 50 lbs. extrusion force; wherein said material is at least 75% porous with a mineral to polymer ratio of 80:20.
Devices and Methods for Treating Facet Joints, Uncovertebral Joints, Costovertebral Joints and Other Joints
The present invention describes methods, devices and instruments for resurfacing or replacing facet joints, uncovertebral joints and costovertebral joints. The joints can be prepared by smoothing the articular surface on one side, by distracting the joint and by implant insertion. Implants can be stabilized against a first articular surface by creating a high level of conformance with said first articular surface, while smoothing the second articular surface with a surgical instrument with a smooth mating implant surface.
MULTI-LAYERED PROSTHETIC ELEMENT
A multi-layered prosthetic element comprises a central body (1; 1′) of a substantially truncated conical shape and having a through axial cavity (2; 2′) open at both ends which gives the central body (1; 1′) a ring-shaped cross-section. The central body (1, 1′) comprises an outer portion (110; 110′), made of trabecular metal material, an inner portion (130; 130′), made of trabecular metal material, and an intermediate portion (120; 120′) made of metal material without significant porosity. The outer portion (110; 110′) and the inner portion (130; 130′) are integrally connected to the intermediate portion (120; 120′). The intermediate portion (120; 120′) is configured to mechanically resist to stresses transmitted to the inner portion (130; 130′) on one side and to the outer portion (110; 110′) on the other side.
Alignment devices and methods
Embodiments of the invention include devices and methods for implanting arthroplasty devices. Some embodiments include designs that allow for use of x-ray images as the only images used to fully and accurately preoperatively and intraoperatively size and align arthroplasty device components and prepare all necessary tissue.
KNEE ARTHROPLASTY SYSTEM
An arthroplasty system including a unicondylar tibial tray implant, a total tibial tray implant, and a tibial bearing configured to individually couple with each one of the unicondylar tibial tray implant and the total tibial tray implant.
