Shoulder Arthroplasty System Method With Combination Humeral Sizer, Trial, and Guide
A shoulder arthroplasty kit includes a humeral head component, a combination sizer and guide device substantially identical to the humeral component but including a including a guide bore, and a guide pin configured to be inserted into the resected surface of the humerus and configured to be guided by the guide bore to a center of the resected surface of the humerus which is covered by the at least one combination sizer and guide device.
Coated hemi-prosthesis implant
A hemi-prosthesis implant comprises a replacement-joint part with an articulation surface for tribological pairing with a joint surface of a natural joint counterpart. The articulation surface is embodied with a coating applied on a substrate. The substrate provides a relief for the adhesion of the coating. The relief may comprise one or more of a plurality of grooves, a plurality of teeth, a ribbing, and a roughened surface. The relief may be embodied entirely or partially outside the articulation surface. The replacement joint part may optionally comprise a ventilation feature, and the articulation surface may be formed by injection molding on the substrate. The hemi-prosthesis implant may be part of an implant set that includes both a hemi-prosthesis implant and a total prosthesis implant, either of which can be chosen intraoperatively.
System and Method for Fracture Replacement of Comminuted Bone Fractures or Portions Thereof Adjacent Bone Joints
The system and method serves in facilitating replacement of comminuted bone fractures or portions thereof adjacent bone joints. The system and method employs a prosthesis to replace at least a portion of the comminuted bone fractures. The prosthesis serves in reproducing the articular surface of the portion or portions of the comminuted bone fractures that are replaced. In doing so, the prosthesis serves in restoring joint viability and corresponding articulation thereof.
ANCHORING MEMBER FOR A JOINT REPLACEMENT
This disclosure relates to an anchoring member for a joint replacement, comprising a proximal interface part and a distal portion, the distal portion being configured to be anchored within bone tissue and the proximal interface part being configured for mounting a joint member of the joint replacement. The proximal interface part comprises a concave interface surface.
Robotic shoulder fracture management
A method of repairing a fractured humerus may include implanting a prosthetic humeral stem into a humeral canal of the fractured humerus. First and second tuberosities of the fractured humerus may be robotically machined to include first and second implant-facing surfaces that are substantially negatives of first and second surface portions of the proximal end of the prosthetic humeral stem. The first and second tuberosities may be machined so that the first and second tuberosities have first and second interlocking surfaces shaped to interlock with each other. During implantation, the first and second implant-facing surfaces are in contact with the first and second surface portions of the proximal end of the prosthetic humeral stem, and the first interlocking surface interlocks with the second interlocking surface.
Shoulder arthroplasty system method with combination humeral sizer, trial, and guide
A shoulder arthroplasty kit includes a combination sizer and guide device with a base portion including a rim configured to be positioned against a resected surface of a humerus. A cavity which is configured to receive a mounting portion of a humeral base component extends proximally from the base portion, the cavity. The combination sizer and guide device includes a convex outer surface which replicates at least a part of an outer bearing surface of a humeral head component. A bore which is perpendicular to the distal plane extends between the cavity and the convex outer surface. The kit further includes a guide pin with a maximum diameter sized to fit within the bore such that the guide pin is guided by the bore during insertion of the guide pin into the resected surface of the humerus.
Method for modeling humeral anatomy and optimization of component design
Stemless components and fracture stems for joint arthroplasty, such as shoulder arthroplasty, are disclosed. Also, methods and devices are disclosed for the optimization of shoulder arthroplasty component design through the use of medical imaging data, such as computed tomography scan data.
Robotic Shoulder Fracture Management
A method of repairing a fractured bone may include implanting a prosthetic stem into an intramedullary canal of the fractured bone. First and second bone segments of the fractured bone may be robotically machined to include first and second implant-facing surfaces that are substantially negatives of first and second surface portions of the first end of the prosthetic stem. The first and second tuberosities may be machined so that the first and second bone segments have first and second interlocking surfaces shaped to interlock with each other. During implantation, the first and second implant-facing surfaces are in contact with the first and second surface portions of the first end of the prosthetic stem, and the first interlocking surface interlocks with the second interlocking surface.
Humeral head implant system
A humeral head implant system includes a head component including a first articulating surface, a second bottom surface extending from the first spherical articulating surface, a first cavity extending a first distance into the head component from the second bottom surface, and a second cavity extending into the head component along a cavity axis. The head component defines a head axis extending through a center of the first articulating surface parallel to the cavity axis. A base component defines a slot extending from a first width to a second width. An insert component includes an insert body, a first engagement feature, and a slot engagement feature. The first engagement feature is received in the second cavity along the cavity axis. The insert body has an insert thickness less than the first distance, and the slot engagement feature slides into the slot in a direction transverse to the cavity axis.
System and method for repairing articular surfaces
A joint replacement system for repairing an articular surface of a first bone of a joint includes an anchor portion and an implant portion. The anchor portion includes an anchor to be secured to the bone, and an anchor fixation head including a bone-facing surface (BFS) extending radially outward from the anchor and an implant facing surface (IFS) extending from a periphery of the BFS. The implant portion is formed from a material (e.g., CoCr) more dense than the material of the anchor portion (e.g., Ti) and includes a fixation cavity to receive at least a portion of the anchor fixation head (AFH), the fixation cavity includes an anchor facing surface (AFS) configured to form a frictional connection with the IFS, and a load bearing surface having a contour for articulating against a cooperating articulating surface of a second bone of the joint.
