STENT PUSHER ASSEMBLY
20180008441 · 2018-01-11 ·

Provided is a stent pusher assembly for positioning a ureteral stent, the stent pusher assembly having an inner and outer stent pusher. The stent pusher assembly positions the ureteral stent in a patient's kidney and bladder without a bladder fixing portion of the stent entering a ureteral passage-way, thereby minimizing irritation to the patient.

Ureteral stent and related methods

The embodiments disclosed herein relate to a ureteral stent having two stent bodies and a tether. The stent can minimize or prevent migration of the device out of the bladder of the patient while also reducing patient discomfort associated with such stents.

Coated urinary catheter or ureteral stent and method

A coated urinary catheter or urinary stent device includes a urinary catheter or stent which, in a deployed position, includes or defines a protective surface area and a protected surface area and a coating upon at least a portion of the protective surface area. The coating includes a lubricant and an antimicrobial and/or pH buffering material. The device is configured such that, upon application of negative pressure to the catheter or stent, tissue of a urinary tract of a patient conforms or collapses onto the protective surface area and is thereby prevented or inhibited from occluding one or more protected drainage holes, ports or perforations of the catheter or stent.

URETERAL STENT

In some examples, a medical system including a stent configured to be positioned within a ureter of a patient. The stent includes one or more distal petals and/or one or more proximal petals resiliently biased to deploy radially outwards from a stent body. The stent may be configured to position the distal petals in a kidney of a patient and position the proximal petals in a bladder of the patient. The distal petals and/or proximal petals may be configured to resist a migration of the stent within the ureter. The stent may include suture configured to cause the distal petals and/or proximal petals to substantially to collapse for withdrawal of the stent. The medical system may include a sheath to retain the distal petals and/or proximal petals in a collapsed condition during, for example, implantation in the patient.

KINK-RESISTANT TUBULAR SCAFFOLDS WITH ENHANCED RADIAL STRENGTH FOR TISSUE ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS
20220378568 · 2022-12-01 · ·

A tubular construct that includes a braided tube embedded therein is disclosed herein. The braided tube may be embedded between layers of the tubular construct or may alternatively be positioned flush with the inside of the tubular construct. The tubular construct is resistant to kinking and has enhanced radial strength. The braided tube reinforces the wall of the tubular construct by improving burst pressure resistance, tube strength, and torque transmission. When radial pressure is applied to the braided tube that is embedded in the construct, the braided tube cannot expand lengthwise. Thus, the compression strength of the construct is increased in the radial direction. This feature takes advantage of the same principle used in the children's toy colloquially known as a Chinese finger trap. The increased radial strength of the tubular construct prevents the construct from collapsing and thereby enhances its structural integrity.

Self-expanding devices and methods therefor

Described here are delivery devices for delivering one or more implants to the body, and methods of using. The delivery devices may deliver implants to a variety of locations within the body, for a number of different uses. In some variations, the delivery devices have a cannula with one or more curved sections. In some variations, a pusher may be used to release one or more implants from the cannula. In some variations, one or more of the released implants may be a self-expanding device. Methods of delivering implants to one or more sinus cavities are also described here.

Device and methods for treating urothelial conditions

A disposable device for treating a condition of a ureter or kidney having a cylindrical body about 1-2 mm in diameter by about 5 to 10 mm in length and having a top and bottom end. The body is made of absorbent material that expands upon contact with pharmaceutical agent and bodily fluids and includes a string connected to the bottom end of the body for removing the device. The device can be used to treat a condition of the ureter or kidney by inserting into the ureter or kidney, delivering a pharmaceutical agent, and removing the device after it has been impregnated with fluid. The device can be included in a kit with an insertion device and/or appropriate pharmaceutical agents.

STENT APPARATUSES AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROTECTION AND MAPPING OF BODILY TISSUES

Stent apparatuses are provided. In some embodiments, the stent apparatus comprises: a tubular body; and at least two induction loops capable of generating an electrical current in the presence of one or more of magnetic, electrical, and radiofrequency energy. The stent apparatus may be placed in a non-target bodily tissue during surgery and used to sense the proximity of an electrosurgical instrument to prevent injury to the non-target tissue. Also provided herein are related systems and methods for protecting and/or mapping the non-target bodily tissue having the stent apparatus placed therein.

Urological implant having extraction handle and/or arched members

Embodiments of a Urological implant include an implant with an elongated body having a longitudinal axis. Optionally longitudinal ribs symmetrically oppose each other and are connected to elongated body. The longitudinal ribs are optionally elastically shiftable between a collapsed state and an expanded state relative to the spinal longitudinal axis, in order to retract or/and support periurethral tissue. Optionally the system includes an implant extraction handle. The extraction handle is optionally positioned proximally to the elongated body and connected to the longitudinal rib and subject to a pulling force to facilitate and/or force approximation of the longitudinal supports to the longitudinal axis. In some embodiments, an implant body includes longitudinally spaced arched members, interconnected via arch ends sequentially along a length of a first and second longitudinal rib. Optionally the arched members are elastically bendable to facilitate elastic contractibility of the implant body under a transverse compressive force.

Systems and methods for inducing negative pressure in a portion of a urinary tract of a patient

Ureteral or bladder catheters are provided, including (a) a proximal portion; and (b) a distal portion, the distal portion including a retention portion that includes one or more protected drainage holes, ports or perforations and is configured to establish an outer periphery or protective surface area that inhibits mucosal tissue from occluding the one or more protected drainage holes, ports or perforations upon application of negative pressure through the catheter. Systems, kits and methods for inducing negative pressure to increase renal function also are provided.
