Angulated rings and bonded foils for use with balloons for fusion and dynamic stabilization
An inflatable and implantable balloon for treatment of degenerative disc disease, bones, lesions, spinal deformities and spinal motion segment instabilities. The balloon is comprised of adjustable and expandable volumes. Further disclosed are methods of forming, inserting, expanding, and implanting the multi-volume balloon for proper placement and stabilization of the spinal lesion or disease. Still further disclosed are kits for aligning and stabilizing elements of the spine.
CONNECTION STRUCTURE OF POROUS SURFACE STRUCTURE AND SUBSTRATE, PREPARATION METHOD FOR CONNECTION STRUCTURE, AND PROSTHESIS
The present invention discloses a connected structure of a porous surface structure and a substrate, a method for preparing the same, and a prosthesis of the same. The connected structure consists of a pre-connected or integrally formed composite body of a porous surface structure and an intermediate; and a substrate, which is connected to said intermediate to achieve the connection of said composite body to the said substrate; the composite body comprising a first composite region corresponding to a first stiffness; a remaining composite region in the composite body other than the first composite region, which at least contains a second composite region corresponding to a second stiffness; and the first stiffness is less than the second stiffness. The present invention achieves a fastened connection between the composite and the substrate and largely maintains the mechanical properties of the substrate; and it provides a prosthesis with excellent bone ingrowth properties and that the strength of the substrate is not substantially affected.
Corpectomy implants with roughened bioactive lateral surfaces
Implants for vertebral body or functional spinal unit replacement comprise a bioactive surface roughening on one or more of the anterior, posterior, and lateral surfaces of the implant. The bioactive surface includes macro-, micro-, and nano-scale structural features that contact vertebral bone that lines a specialized channel in a vertebrae, and thereby facilitate bone growth and osteointegration of the implant with the vertebral bone.
Hip joint method
A surgical or arthroscopic method for resurfacing at least one surface of a hip joint of a human patient, using a medical device comprising an artificial hip joint surface, wherein the hip joint surface comprising an acetabulum surface and a caput femur surface, said method comprising the steps of: creating at least one hole passing into the hip joint, dissecting and preparing the hip joint, introducing at least one artificial hip joint surface, comprising at least one of an artificial acetabulum surface and an artificial caput femur surface, wherein said at least one artificial hip joint surface, comprising a first sealing member, creating a sealed hollow space between said first sealing member and one of the acetabulum surface or said artificial acetabulum surface and one of the caput femur surface or said artificial caput femur surface, selecting at least one artificial hip joint surface and injecting a material into said hollow space.
Partially Porous Tibial Component
A method for removing a stem portion of an orthopedic implant from a bone comprises exposing an implanted orthopedic implant having a body portion, a stem portion interconnected to the body and a porous metal section forming an interconnection between the body and the stem portion. A cutting tool is mounted on a holder connected to an exposed surface of the orthopedic implant. The porous section is aligned with the cutting tool mounted on the holder. The entire porous section is cut by moving the cutting tool therethrough in a direction transverse to the stem portion axis. The implant body portion is then removed and then the stem portion is removed from the bone. The cutting tool may be a saw or chisel which may be mounted on a guide fixed to the body portion.
VERTEBRAL JOINT IMPLANTS AND DELIVERY TOOLS
A spinal joint distraction system for treating a facet joint including articular surfaces having a contour is disclosed and may include a delivery device including a generally tubular structure adapted to engage a facet joint, an implant adapted to be delivered through the delivery device and into the facet joint, the implant comprising two members arranged in opposed position, and an implant distractor comprising a generally elongate member adapted to advance between the two members of the implant causing separation of the members and distraction of the facet joint, wherein the implant is adapted to conform to the shape of the implant distractor and/or the articular surfaces of the facet upon being delivered to the facet joint. Several embodiments of a system, several embodiments of an implant, and several methods are disclosed including a method for interbody fusion.
Highly lordosed fusion cage
A fusion cage has a first component that defines an outside surface that is configured to engage a vertebral endplate, and an interior surface. The fusion cage has a second component that defines first and second opposed surfaces. One of the first and second opposed surfaces can mate with the interior surface of the first component. The fusion cage can include vertical and lateral throughholes adapted to enhance fusion.
Process for fabricating bioactive vertebral endplate bone-contacting surfaces on a spinal implant
An interbody spinal implant including a body having a top surface, a bottom surface, opposing lateral sides, and opposing anterior and posterior portions. At least a portion of the top surface, the bottom surface, or both surfaces has a roughened surface topography including both micro features and nano features, without sharp teeth that risk damage to bone structures, adapted to grip bone through friction generated when the implant is placed between two vertebrae and to inhibit migration of the implant. The roughened surface topography typically further includes macro features and the macro features, micro features, and nano features overlap. Also disclosed are methods of using such implants and processes of fabricating a roughened surface topography on a surface of an implant. The process includes separate and sequential macro processing, micro processing, and nano processing steps.
Joint replacement component with integrated fixation pads
In one embodiment, a prosthetic component includes a plurality of fixation pads coupled to a body portion. The fixation pads may be formed of a first material suitable for attachment to bone, and the body portion may be formed of a second material different from the first material and suitable to provide a bearing surface for a joint.
