IMPLANT COMPONENTS AND METHODS
Systems, devices, and methods are provided for orthopedic implants. The implants may include a base member, such as an acetabular shell or an augment, that is configured to couple with an augment, flange cup, mounting member, or any other suitable orthopedic attachment.
Connection arrangement of two components
A connection arrangement (4, 4′) of two components (1, 2) according to the invention has a curved surface portion having a contact point on at least one of these components. The curved surface portion can extend over the entire surface of a groove, for example. The other component has a taper. When assembling the two components before a force is applied, a line connection is created from the 2-contact point connection and when force is applied, the line connection changes through plastic deformation into a strip connection, on the basis of which the two components (1, 2) hold together.
Hip prosthesis head
A hip prosthesis head includes: an external element with a convex external surface, and an internal element having a truncated-conical seat; wherein the external element and the internal element are made of different materials; the internal element is coupled in a blind hole of the external element in fit-in coupling mode; the external element has an annular base around the blind hole, and the internal element has a truncated-conical body that is open on the bottom, and an annular base that protrudes radially outwards from a lower edge of the body in order to be in contact with the base of the external element.
Adjustable height arthroplasty plate
An orthopaedic assembly. The orthopaedic assembly includes a first member adapted to be coupled to a bone and an adjustable connector assembly including an adjuster having a threaded end and a tapered end. The assembly also includes an articulation component including a bearing surface and adapted to be coupled to the tapered end of the adjustable connector assembly. The threaded end is adapted to engage the fixation plate.
MODULAR ENDOPROSTHESIS SHAFT SYSTEM WITH ROTATION ELEMENT
The invention relates to an endoprosthesis shaft system for elongate bones, comprising an anchoring part and a shaft, which is formed from module elements that can be coupled by means of a plug-in connection, wherein a mutual rotation of the elements along the shaft is adjustable and is blocked by means of an anti-rotation mechanism. In order to adjust the rotation, a rotation piece is provided as a further module element, which has a self-contained rotation adjustment device and a clamping device as a mechanism for blocking the rotation. The rotation piece comprises two end faces for the plug-in connection and a sleeve. The invention provides, with the rotation piece, a particular module element for the shaft, which as a structural unit allows both an adjustment of the rotation and a blocking against undesired rotation in a self-contained unit.
Prosthesis for hip replacement with polyethylene head and anti-rotational intra-prosthetic assembly
This invention corresponds to a prosthesis for total or hip resurfacing replacement, which comprises a prosthetic femoral head made of highly cross-linked polyethylene, with a diameter ranging from 38 mm to 64 mm, to articulate with a cup or acetabular component made of metal. When the invention applies to total hip replacement, the polyethylene head includes a metal core, which contains inside the female counterpart (14) to mate with the male counterpart (13) of a Morse taper, located at the upper end of the femoral component. The use of this type of head for total hip replacement, articulated with an ultra-polished acetabular cup, reduces the risk of dislocation, transmits less angular and torque forces to the Morse taper than large metal heads, and avoids the problems related to the metal-metal bearing or with the use of large metal heads with thin polyethylene. When the invention relates to hip resurfacing replacement, the highly cross-linked polyethylene femoral head has a lower polyethylene extension or stem with or without internal metal reinforcement (151) or a metal stem integrated into a metal-back (152). Using these types of heads for hip resurfacing replacement heads eliminates the problems associated with metal-on-metal resurfacing replacements.
Device to be implanted in human or animal tissue and method for implanting and assembling the device
An implant or endoprosthesis suitable to be implanted in human or animal tissue includes two (or more than two) parts to be joined in situ. Each one of the parts includes a joining location, the two joining locations facing each other when the device parts are positioned for being joined together, wherein one of the joining locations includes a material which is liquefiable by mechanical vibration and the other one of the joining locations includes a material which is not liquefiable by mechanical vibration and a structure (e.g. undercut cavities or protrusions) suitable for forming a positive fit connection with the liquefiable material. The joining process is effected by pressing the two device parts against each other and by applying ultrasonic vibration to one of the device parts when the two parts are positioned relative to each other such that the two joining locations are in contact with each other.
Hip joint endoprosthesis system
The invention relates to a hip joint endoprosthesis system, comprising a medical instrument for extracting an implanted prosthesis stem of a hip joint endoprosthesis from a femur bone of a patient, which medical instrument has a coupling body with a coupling recess for accommodating a coupling cone protruding from the prosthesis stem, wherein the coupling body comprises a coupling base body and a coupling insert which is accommodated in a coupling insert receptacle of the coupling base body and defines the coupling recess.
Cemented acetabular construct with locked modular sleeve
In one embodiment, the present disclosure relates to an acetabular implant system with a liner and a sleeve. The liner includes a convex outer surface shaped to correspond to an interior of an acetabular cup and has an equatorial region and a polar region. The convex outer surface includes a plurality of liner engagement features thereon. The sleeve includes an inner surface with a plurality of sleeve engagement features thereon. The inner surface of the sleeve is sized to be flush with the convex outer surface of the liner. When the sleeve is engaged with the liner, the liner engagement features engage the sleeve engagement features.
Acetabular cup assembly for multiple bearing materials
A modular acetabular cup assembly for use with multiple bearing liners is disclosed. The acetabular cup assembly includes a shell having a tapered inner wall and two circumferential grooves. The shell may be used with polyethylene, ceramic, metal, and other types of liners.
