Perfected total shoulder prosthesis

A shoulder prosthesis includes a humeral portion and a scapular portion, each having an osseointegrable component and an articular component. The osseointegrable component in the humeral portion includes a humeral body produced as a semicircular asymmetrical cage having a proximal circular ring base facing the scapular portion and an eccentric distal cylindrical base in opposite position, which are connected by arms having one or more holes for favoring the growth of bone tissue and facilitating anchorage to the bone, the proximal circular ring base being configured to be interchangeably coupled with the articular component for an anatomical prosthesis or a concave insert for a reverse prosthesis. The osseointegrable component in the scapular portion includes a glenoid base-plate of asymmetric form for coupling to an articular component, such as a concave glenoid insert, for an anatomical prosthesis or a glenosphere for a reverse prosthesis.

Modular endoprosthesis shaft system with rotation element

The invention relates to an endoprosthesis shaft system for elongate bones, comprising an anchoring part (10) and a shaft (1), which is formed from module elements that can be coupled by means of a plug-in connection (45), wherein a mutual rotation of the elements along the shaft (1) is adjustable and is blocked by means of an anti-rotation mechanism. In order to adjust the rotation, a rotation piece (5) is provided as a further module element, which has a self-contained rotation adjustment device (6) and a clamping device (7) as a mechanism for blocking the rotation. The rotation piece (5) comprises two end faces for the plug-in connection (45) and a sleeve (77). The invention provides, with the rotation piece, a particular module element for the shaft, which as a structural unit allows both an adjustment of the rotation and a blocking against undesired rotation in a self-contained unit.

Arthroplasty implant systems and methods are provided for restoring the functionality of a joint. The arthroplasty implant systems may include a threaded cup having a cylindrical shaped body and a flange. A thread may be provided on the cylindrical shaped body. The thread is configured to engage a bone, and the flange is configured to engage a cortical rim of the bone.

Fastening ceramic components

A ceramic component to be securely connected to an additional component in force-locked manner. A joint prosthesis comprising a ceramic sphere (1), a metallic sleeve (2) and a base plate (3) with a cylindrical projection. The connection between the ceramic sphere and the base plate or shaft (7) is secured by a screw (6).

The invention relates to a prosthesis comprising a first component (10) and a second component (60), wherein the first and second components have respective inter-engaging parts (24,64) and wherein at least one of the first or second components comprises an anti-rotational element (32,66) configured to resist rotational movement between the inter-engaging parts and wherein the inter-engaging parts share an axis of rotation such that they are engageable in a plurality of relatively rotated positions and wherein the axis of rotation of the inter-engaging part of one of the first or second components is parallel to but offset from a central axis of said first or second component.

Modular humeral implant for an inverted shoulder prosthesis

A modular humeral implant for an inverted shoulder prosthesis includes a humeral stem having, on the one hand, a diaphyseal keel of elongate shape, extending along a diaphyseal axis and shaped to be engaged in a medullary cavity of a humerus, and, on the other hand, a metaphyseal portion. A humeral spacer is mounted on the metaphyseal portion of the humeral stem and has a lower face facing the metaphyseal portion, the lower face having a peripheral portion projecting laterally from the metaphyseal portion and covered at least partially with a porous or rough metal surface coating promoting an osseointegration. A humeral insert is fastened on the humeral spacer and has a hemispherical cup shaped to receive a glenosphere of a glenoid implant.

Device to be implanted in human or animal tissue and method for implanting and assembling the device

An implant or endoprosthesis suitable to be implanted in human or animal tissue includes two (or more than two) parts to be joined in situ. Each one of the parts includes a joining location, the two joining locations facing each other when the device parts are positioned for being joined together, wherein one of the joining locations includes a material which is liquefiable by mechanical vibration and the other one of the joining locations includes a material which is not liquefiable by mechanical vibration and a structure (e.g. undercut cavities or protrusions) suitable for forming a positive fit connection with the liquefiable material. The joining process is effected by pressing the two device parts against each other and by applying ultrasonic vibration to one of the device parts when the two parts are positioned relative to each other such that the two joining locations are in contact with each other.

Device for assembly of ball heads and adapter sleeves as integrated component part of the package

A package for receiving an adapter sleeve for a hip endoprosthesis, the hip endoprosthesis comprising a ball head which has to be pushed onto the adapter sleeve with a defined pushing-on force. For simplification and secure fastening of the ball head on the adapter sleeve, it is proposed according to the invention that a device for the mounting of the ball head on the adapter sleeve is integrated in the package and this device comprises indicating elements which indicate that the defined pushing-on force has been reached when the ball head is pressed onto the adapter sleeve. Preferably the package has indicating elements.

Femoral neck prosthesis
