BONE REPAIR DEVICES AND METHODS
A plate assembly for stabilizing a bone is provided. The plate assembly includes a fixation plate having rails that form a window. The plate assembly includes a band having a tail and a head. The head defines an internal cavity configured to receive a portion of the tail. The fixation plate is configured to be positioned proximate to a bone. The head is configured to be at least partially received within the window. Further, the band is configured to be wrapped around the fixation plate and the bone, and the internal cavity of the head is configured to receive an end of the tail to form a loop. The band is configured to receive a tension force to tighten the loop formed by the band. The band may passively engage the fixation plate so that bands may be easily removed from windows when no tension is applied to the band.
Tissue expanders having integrated drainage and moveable barrier membranes
A tissue expander having an integrated drain includes a shell having an opening and one or more drainage holes, and an injection port disposed in the opening of the shell and forming a fluid-tight seal with the shell. The injection port includes a needle guard having a needle guard base with a top surface. The injection port includes a moveable barrier membrane overlying the top surface of the needle guard base. The moveable barrier membrane is moveable between a first position for inflating and deflating the shell with a first fluid and a second position for draining a second fluid from outside the shell. A magnet is coupled with the moveable barrier membrane, and a compressible spring is connected with the magnet. The compressible spring is compressed for storing energy as the moveable barrier membrane moves from the first position to the second position.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGICAL IMPLANT DEVICE WITH POROUS MATERIAL AND FLUID CHANNELS FOR CLEANING THE POROUS MATERIAL
This disclosure describes a surgical implant device comprising a body that includes a porous material forming at least a portion of the body, wherein the porous material is configured to promote bone ingrowth and is porous to a fluid. In addition, one or more fluid channels are formed in the body. The one or more fluid channels are arranged to define a fluidic path that exits into the porous material.
PROSTHETIC IMPLANT
A prosthetic implant shaped as a portion of a human skeletal structure and including a contact and delivery portion shaped as a porous structure, in particular as a trabecular type structure, suitable for receiving a medical substance and configured to be arranged in contact with a bone of a patient during an operating configuration of the prosthetic implant and a support portion, coupled to the contact and delivery portion, including a plurality of ducts each having at least one inlet section, made at an operative part of the prosthetic implant that can be accessed from the outside by the surgeon in the operating configuration, and at least one outlet section which opens into the contact and delivery portion. The contact and delivery portion is configured to deliver the medical substance evenly onto the bone when the medical substance is injected through at least one duct of said plurality of ducts during the operating configuration.
Articular gasket prosthesis and articular prosthesis with articular gasket prosthesis
The disclosure provides an articular gasket prosthesis and an articular prosthesis with the articular gasket prosthesis. The articular gasket prosthesis includes an elastic gasket disposed between a first skeleton and second skeleton forming a joint, the elastic gasket including: an elastic matrix, having a first contact surface facing the first skeleton and a second contact surface facing the second skeleton; and multiple synovial fluid passages, distributed in the elastic matrix and communicating the first contact surface and the second contact surface, the multiple synovial fluid passages being disposed according to a predetermined manner to gradually increase hardness of the elastic matrix from a center to an edge and gradually decrease elasticity of the elastic matrix from the center to the edge.
Tissue expanders having integrated drainage and infusion assemblies
A tissue expander having an integrated drain includes an outer shell having an opening and one or more drainage holes. An injection port is disposed in the opening of the shell and forms a fluid-tight seal with the shell. The injection port includes a needle guard having a needle guard base with a top surface, and a barrier membrane that overlies the top surface of the needle guard base. The barrier membrane defines an inflation chamber located between the top surface of the needle guard base and a bottom surface of the barrier membrane, and a drainage chamber overlying a top surface of the barrier membrane. The tissue expander includes one or more inflation ports that are in fluid communication with the inflation chamber for inflating and deflating the outer shell with a first fluid. A drainage conduit is in fluid communication with and extends between the drainage chamber and the one or more drainage holes for draining a second fluid from outside the shell.
Femoral hip joint spacer with irrigation device
A femoral hip joint spacer. The spacer has a prosthesis body with a ball head, a neck, a stem and an anchoring sleeve which encloses the stem on a proximal side of the stem with a circumferential fastening area, irrigation liquid inlet and outlet openings in the body surface, at least one irrigation liquid discharge opening on a distal side of the stem and at least one irrigation liquid intake opening on the ball head or on the neck. The discharge opening is connected in a liquid-permeable manner to the inlet opening but not to the outlet opening and the intake opening is connected inside the prosthesis body in a liquid-permeable manner to the outlet opening but not to the inlet opening. A cavity open on two sides is formed inside the anchoring sleeve and connects a proximal side to a distal side of the sleeve in a liquid-permeable manner.
Orthopedic surgical implant device with porous material and fluid channels for cleaning the porous material
This disclosure describes a surgical implant device comprising a body that includes a porous material forming at least a portion of the body, wherein the porous material is configured to promote bone ingrowth and is porous to a fluid.
