SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANT FIXATION
An interbody implant system for use in the spine includes a base comprising two or more bone contacting surfaces, at least one recess in at least one of the two or more bone contacting surfaces, the recess configured for containing a tooth, a deployable tooth to provide fixation between the base and the anatomy of a subject, a break-away bridge between the tooth and the base for providing a first relative position between the tooth and the base, and a locking mechanism for providing a second relative position between the tooth and the base.
SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
A method for treating a spine is provided. The method includes the steps of: disposing an interbody implant adjacent a first vertebral surface and a second vertebral surface of an intervertebral disc space, the interbody implant engaging the vertebral surfaces at a selected angular orientation; connecting the interbody implant with at least one of the vertebral surfaces via at least one fastener that is engaged with the interbody implant and fixed with the vertebral surface such that the at least one fastener is movable to a plurality of axial orientations relative to the interbody implant; and manipulating the vertebral surfaces such that the at least one fastener is fixed relative to the interbody implant. Spinal implants, surgical instruments and systems are disclosed.
Anatomical Wedge Implant
An osteotomy implant includes a first surface extending generally in a first plane and a second surface extending generally in a second plane, oblique to the first plane. The first surface has a perimeter having a first linear edge, a first curve edge connected to the first linear edge, a second linear edge connected to the first curved edge, and a second curved edge connected to the second liner edge.
ZERO-PROFILE INTERBODY SPACER AND COUPLED PLATE ASSEMBLY
An implant for insertion into a disc space between vertebrae, wherein the implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion coupled to the spacer portion, two bone fixation elements for engaging the vertebrae and a retention mechanism for preventing the bone fixation elements from postoperatively backing-out of the plate portion. The retention mechanism may be in the form of a spring biased snapper element that is biased into communication with the bone fixation elements so that once the bone fixation element advances past the snapper element, the snapper element is biased back to its initial position in which the snapper element interfaces with the bone fixation elements. Alternatively, the retention mechanism may be in the form of a propeller rotatable between a first position in which the bone fixation elements are insertable to a second position where the bone fixation elements are prevented from backing-out.
IMPLANT COMPONENT
A humeral implant component connectable to another humeral implant component, the humeral implant component comprising: a longitudinal axis, a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end opposing each other along the longitudinal axis of the humeral implant component, and an interface part for connecting the humeral implant component to the other humeral implant component, wherein the interface part is tapered along the longitudinal axis in a direction from the second end to the first end, the interface part being engageable with a tapered interface part of the other humeral implant component to form a tapered connection between the humeral implant component and the other humeral implant component, wherein the humeral implant component further comprises a through hole extending along the longitudinal axis for locking the tapered connection by a longitudinal fastener.
Zero-profile interbody spacer and coupled plate assembly
An implant for insertion into the disc space between vertebrae. The implant including a spacer portion, a plate portion coupled to the spacer portion, a plurality of bone fixation elements for engaging the vertebrae and a retention mechanism for preventing the bone fixation elements from postoperatively uncoupling from the implant.
Shoulder implants and assembly
An implant is disclosed that has a base member, an articulating member, and a coupling portion that secures the base member to the articulating member. The implant can be a shoulder implant (100, 200, 300) that has a baseplate (102, 230, 310), an articulating component (104, 210), and a fixation component (106, 270, 342). The baseplate includes a first side (110, 234, 314) with a projection (108, 240, 320) that has a first Morse taper and may be offset from a center line of the baseplate and a second side (116, 236, 316) that has a post or stem (114, 250, 330) that is offset from the center line of the baseplate. The articulating component includes a cavity (122, 220) with a second Morse taper that is offset from a center line of the articulating component. The articulating component is attachable to the baseplate when the projection is received in the cavity of the articulation component. A threaded through hole (130, 222) extends from the cavity of the articulating component to a second, convex side or articulating surface (120, 212) thereof. The through hole can be aligned with the cavity. The fixation component (106, 270, 342) can engage the through hole and is contained within a cavity (132, 322, 242) of the baseplate by a spring (138, 262, 360) and a cap (140), a second fixation member (280), or an engagement member (370).
ZERO PROFILE SPINAL FUSION CAGE
An interbody fusion cage having upper and lower canals for receiving the heads of bone screws that have been pre-installed in opposing vertebral body endplates. The proximal wall of the cage preferably has a vertical slot that communicates with each canal and is adapted to allow access by a screwdriver and tightening of the screws.
