MILLING APPARATUS FOR IMPLANTING A JOINT PROSTHESIS
A novel and improved elbow prosthesis and method of implanting same including a prosthesis system that has a retaining system. The joint prosthesis system can include an implant, and an alignment guide. The alignment guide can include a post member extending through a central axis of rotation in a prosthesis and a drill guide member having a first limiting member for limiting articular surface removal from a joint. The first limiting member can include a recessed guide for positioning the implant.
Canine elbow repair and instrumentation
Instrumentation and assembly for arthroscopic elbow surgery which includes a humeral component. The humeral component is installed in a trough formed in the humeral condyle. The trough may be formed by using a plurality of drill pins and a plurality of corresponding cutters (and optionally a template). The two drill pins are passed through the template and drilled into the humerus, and cutters are advanced over the corresponding drill pins to form the trough. The humeral component may be employed in conjunction with an ulnar implant.
A Prosthetic Intervertebral Disc Joint Assembly
A prosthetic intervertebral disc joint assembly for replacing at least a portion of an intervertebral disc between first and second adjacent vertebrae comprising: a first component 20, 120 for engaging a first vertebra, the first component having an intervertebral portion 20a, 120a insertable between adjacent vertebrae and having a bone-engaging side for engaging an endplate of the first vertebra and an inner side opposite the bone-engaging side, the inner side of the intervertebral portion 20a, 120a having an articulating surface 22, 122 comprising a generally convex surface; a second component 30, 130 for engaging a second vertebra, the second component having an intervertebral portion 30a, 130a insertable between adjacent vertebrae and having a bone-engaging side for engaging an endplate of the second vertebra and an inner side opposite the bone-engaging side, the inner side of the intervertebral portion 30a, 130a having an articulating surface 32, 132 comprising a generally concave surface; wherein the convex articulating surface 22, 122 of the first component is sized and shaped to pivot in the concave articulating surface 32, 132 of the second component, and wherein the first component 20, 120 further comprises a fixation portion 20b, 120b for securing the first component to the anterior side of the first vertebra, said fixation portion 20b, 120b extending from the trailing end of the intervertebral portion 20a, 120a of the first component and wherein the second component 30, 130 further comprises a fixation portion 30b, 130b for securing the second component to the anterior side of the second vertebra, said fixation portion 30b, 130b extending from the trailing end of the intervertebral portion 30a, 130a of the second component.
Methods for implanting a joint prosthesis
A novel and improved elbow prosthesis and method of implanting same including a novel aggregate prosthesis having a retaining system in conjunction with a set plate.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATING BONE FRACTURES
Provided herein are compositions and methods for treating bone fractures. In particular, provided herein are systems comprising carbon fiber sleeves and biocompatible polymers and the use of such systems in treating or preventing bone fractures.
Systems, Methods and Apparatus for Surgical Models
Systems, methods and apparatus for providing three dimensional, transforming demonstration models that illustrate the way different osteotomy surgical procedures change the geometry of the relevant bones from a pre-surgical state to a post-surgical state.
SPINAL FUSION CAGE SYSTEM WITH INSERTER
A bone graft delivery system and method for using same to deliver graft material into a surgical site. The system includes an interbody implant having a securing site disposed on a surface of the implant and a holder having an elongated, hollow handle including a distal end. The distal end of the holder is configured to removably engage the securing site of the interbody implant to secure the interbody implant to the distal end of the holder until such time as a user desires to disengage the holder from the interbody implant. The interbody implant may be a cage implant having opposing anterior and posterior surfaces, opposing first and second lateral surfaces, and opposing top and bottom surfaces, wherein the top surface comprises a first aperture and the bottom surface comprises a second aperture, the posterior surface comprising a third aperture, the first, second, and third apertures all linking to a main cavity, the main cavity generally extending between the top surface and the bottom surface.
3D PRINTING OF POLYMERIC BIOCERAMICS FOR THE TREATMENT OF BONE DEFECTS
A filament or printing material placed in a syringe for 3D printing comprising polymers, proteins, and/or functional particles and materials is provided. Methods of treating a bone defect in a subject in need thereof comprising using a handheld 3D printer to apply a filament or the printing material placed in a syringe to the bone defect of the subject are also provided. Methods of fixing or gluing natural or synthetic bone grafts using a handheld 3D printer to apply a filament or the printing material placed in a syringe over and around the defect or at the interface of a flap and the bone. Methods of printing a graft cage for retaining bone grafts and/or bone graft substitiute in its desired location during healing for treatment of critical-sized segmental defects in long bones are provided.
TIBIA CONDYLE RESURFACING PROSTHESIS
The present invention resolves the main problems of bone-sparing resurfacing surgery of the medial compartment of the knee in dogs and in people. With a hard, low abrasion, low friction coating of the implant (100), such as ADLC or pyrolytic carbon, it is possible to resurface only one side of the joint. In this case, the tibia plateau resurfacing with a concave recess on its femur-facing surface provides not only pain-free mobility but also the necessary stability of the joint with a deficient cruciate ligament. The planar osteotomy of the medial condyle, with or without resurfacing, can also be used to emulate TPLO procedure limited to the medial compartment of the stifle.
Stabilizing vertebrae with articulating implants
A bone joint spacer has two endplates which have a bone engaging surface on one side, and ramps extending from an opposite side. A shaft has a threaded end, and another end which has ramp followers which mate with the endplate ramps of both endplates. A collar slides over the threaded end of the shaft, and also has ramp followers which mate with the endplate ramps of both endplates. A nut threads onto the end of the shaft and pushes the collar towards the ramp followers of the shaft. This movement causes the ramp followers to slide the ramp followers of the collar and the shaft against the endplate ramps, pushing the endplates apart. Two of these spacers can be combined by a link plate so that the spacers can be aligned or curved into a U-shape to be inserted into the body and positioned between bony surfaces, respectively.
