Spinal implant system

A prosthesis for spinal surgery includes a spacer adapted to be secured into the bone and attached to one of a plurality of configuration plates. The configuration plates are interchangeable and each one is configured to utilize a different combination of bone screws, anchors or both. The prosthesis may further include a retaining mechanism to prevent bone screws and/or anchors from backing out.

Implants including non-resorbable frameworks and resorbable components, as well as methods of use thereof are disclosed. The embodiments include different combinations of a non-resorbable framework (in some case structural and in other cases non-structural), and a resorbable component embedded within and/or around the framework (again, in some cases structural and in other cases non-structural). The disclosed implants provide an efficient means of providing structural support for the vertebral bodies post-implantation, as well as encouraging resorption of the implant and fusion of the associated vertebral bodies without negative side effects and/or failure, such as subsidence of the implant or cracking/fracturing of a portion of the implant when implanted.

The talar component has a first surface configured for facing the tibial component and a second surface configured for facing a talus of the person. The second surface has first and second arms attached to it, for pivoting or flexing outwardly in medial and lateral directions, respectively, to engage side surfaces of a previously formed slot in the talus.

Robotic system and methods for preparing a bone of a joint to receive an implant. Virtual object(s) are used to define a volume of material to be removed from the bone for receipt of the implant. A robotic manipulator controls a cutting tool based on the virtual object(s) to form a first cavity and a second cavity in the bone. The second cavity is formed beneath the first cavity and is rotated relative to the first cavity to define an undercut in the bone. The first and second cavities receive a body and a locking member of the implant in an unlocked position. The locking member is rotated within the second cavity to a locked position whereby the undercut engages the locking member to limit withdrawal of the implant from the bone.

A method for placing an implant on a patient in a robotic surgical procedure using a robotic system. During the robotic surgical procedure, a navigation system tracks the patient. The navigation system also provides information to the robotic system to guide movement of a cutting tool to remove material from the patient such that a cut surface is created to receive the implant.
