Modular Bone Reinforcement
Modular bone reinforcement systems, bone plates, assembled bone reinforcements, and methods of reinforcing a bone are described. A modular bone reinforcement system includes a plurality of bone plates, each of which has a series of tabs disposed along at least one edge of the bone plate for forming a snap-fit attachment to a mating series of tabs of another bone plate of the plurality of bone plates to form an assembled bone reinforcement. A first bone plate of the plurality of bone plates has a first shape and a second bone plate of the plurality of bone plates has a second shape that is different from the first shape. The modular bone reinforcement system can include additional components, such one or more fixation devices, reduction devices, navigation aids, or other components.
Method and device for joint replacement
A joint replacement device is provided that includes an inner surface configured to accommodate at least one of a portion of an outer surface of a femoral head of a femur and a prosthetic secured to the femoral head, an outer surface configured to accommodate at least one of a portion of an outer surface of an acetabulum socket and a prosthetic secured to a pelvis, wherein the inner surface and outer surface each have a circular curvilinear shape and together include an inner perimeter and an outer perimeter, and wherein the inner perimeter is joined to the outer perimeter to form a posterior limb and an anterior limb, and further including, a posterior portion, an anterior portion, and a superior portion formed from the inner surface and the outer surface; wherein the superior portion further includes a posterior superior portion and an anterior superior portion.
HIP JOINT DEVICE AND METHOD
A method for implantating a medical device in a hip joint of a patient is provided. The medical device is adapted to be fixated to the pelvic bone of the patient, and comprises an inner and an outer surface, a contacting portion of the inner surface is spherical and adapted to face the center of the hip joint when said medical device is implanted, and said medical device is adapted to receive a caput femur or a prosthetic caput femur having a spherical portion. The medical device comprises at least one extending portion adapted to clasp the caput femur, or prosthetic caput femur, for restraining said caput femur, or prosthetic caput femur in said medical device. The medical device is adapted to release the caput femur or prosthetic caput femur from the medical device when a predetermined strain is placed on the medical device. The ability of the medical device to release the caput femur or prosthetic caput femur from the medical device when a predetermined strain is placed on the medical device reduces the risk that the prosthesis is loosened by an abnormal strain being placed on the hip joint from e.g. the patient falling or making a rapid movement of the hip.
ACETABULAR APPARATUSES FOR HIP REVISION SURGERY
Prostheses, acetabular apparatuses, and methods of use are disclosed. In some embodiments, an acetabular apparatus includes an acetabular cup and an acetabular cage disposed within an interior of the acetabular cup. The acetabular cage may include a central portion including a first section and a second section rotatably coupled together, and a first flange extending from the first section and a second flange extending from the second section. The acetabular prosthesis may further include a fastener extending through each of the acetabular cup and the central portion of the acetabular cage.
JOINT PROSTHESIS COMPONENT, RELATED SURGICAL INSTRUMENTATION FOR THE BONE PROCESSING AND PROSTHESIS MANUFACTURING METHOD
The invention relates to a joint prosthesis component (200) adapted to be fixed to a first bone extremity (250) of a joint of a single patient having compromised anatomy, said joint prosthesis component (200) comprises: —at least one fastening portion (202, 205, 206, 207) adapted to be in contact with the first bone extremity; —at least one joint portion (4) adapted to be directly coupled with second bone extremity of the joint or with a conjugate second joint prosthesis component, in turn fixed to the second bone extremity. Advantageously, the fastening portion is at least partially customized to be specifically shaped with respect to the morphology of the first bone extremity processed by means of at least one surgical instrumentation.
Bendable Titanium-Alloy Implants, And Related Systems And Methods
An implantable device includes a portion that is constructed such that at least a majority of the portion, as measured by volume, comprises Ti64 (Ti-6Al-4V) alloy. Additionally, the portion is bendable to a bend angle of at least about 50-degrees about a bend axis while maintaining structural integrity.
Hip joint device and method
A medical device for implantation in a hip joint of a patient. The medical device comprises an inner and an outer surface, wherein a contacting portion of said inner surface is spherical and adapted to face a center of the hip joint when said medical device is implanted. The medical device is adapted to receive a caput femur or a prosthetic caput femur having a spherical portion. Said medical device comprises at least one extending portion adapted to clasp the caput femur, or prosthetic caput femur, for restraining said caput femur, or said prosthetic caput femur in said medical device. The extending portion comprises an elastic portion, and the medical device is adapted to release the caput femur or prosthetic caput femur from said medical device by deflecting said at least extending portion when a predetermined strain is placed on said medical device by abnormal movement of the hip joint caused by the patient.
Hip Joint Device and Method
A medical device for implantation in a hip joint of a patient is provided. The medical device is adapted to be fixated to the pelvic bone of the patient. The medical device comprises an inner and an outer surface, wherein a contacting portion, of said inner surface is spherical and adapted to face the center of the hip joint when said medical device is implanted. The medical device is adapted to receive a caput femur or a prosthetic replacement therefor having a spherical portion, wherein said medical device comprises at least one extending portion, extending said contacting portion of said inner surface such that said at least one extending portion clasps said spherical portion of said caput femur, or a prosthetic replacement therefor, such that said spherical portion is restrained in said medical device. Restraining the caput femur in the medical device reduces the risk that the hip joint dislocates when in use by the patient.
