ADJUSTABLE PROSTHESIS LEG
A prosthetic system includes a prosthetic knee having a controller and a hydraulic unit pivotally connected to the controller. The hydraulic includes a reserve hydraulic cylinder, a brake hydraulic cylinder, and a hydraulic cylinder having a lower hydraulic compartment. A flow system fluidly connects the hydraulic cylinder, the reserve hydraulic cylinder, and the brake cylinder. The flow system has first and second flow paths in communication with the lower hydraulic compartment and the reserve hydraulic cylinder. The first flow path is in communication with lower hydraulic compartment and the reserve hydraulic cylinder via the brake cylinder. The second flow path bypasses the brake hydraulic cylinder.
ORTHOPEDIC JOINT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME
Systems and methods for controlling an orthopedic joint device of a lower extremity, the orthopedic device comprising an upper part, a lower part mounted in articulated fashion to the upper part, and a conversion device arranged between the upper and lower parts. The conversion device provides for, during pivoting of the upper part relative to the lower part, mechanical work from a relative movement between the upper and lower parts to be converted and stored in at least one energy store and supplied back to the joint device with a time offset in order to assist the relative movement. The stored energy is converted back and the supply of mechanical work takes place in a controlled manner during the assistance of the relative movement.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AN ARTICULATING ANKLE
A hydraulic ankle assembly to be used by a user, wherein the ankle assembly includes a base configured to be attached to a spring assembly, a hydraulic cylinder rotatably attached to the base and configured to dampen rotation of the hydraulic ankle assembly, and a prosthetic adapter portion rotatably attached to the base and the hydraulic cylinder and configured to be attached to a prosthetic worn by the user. The base, the hydraulic cylinder, and the prosthetic adapter portion define a force triangle that defines an axis of rotation of the hydraulic ankle assembly. The axis of rotation is positioned in line with the center of mass of the user when the user is standing. The force triangle reduces forces on the hydraulic cylinder.

JOINT FOR AN ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
A joint for an orthopedic device, the joint comprising: a first element; a spring support mounted to the first element and having at least one spring element; and a second element, the second element being pivotally mounted to the first element in a first swiveling direction counter to a first force applied by the at least one spring element and in an opposite second swiveling direction counter to a second force applied by the at least one spring element.
Prosthetic ankle and foot combination
A prosthetic ankle and foot combination has an ankle joint mechanism constructed to allow damped rotational movement of a foot component relative to a shin component. The mechanism provides a continuous hydraulically damped range of ankle motion during walking with dynamically variable damping resistances, and with independent variation of damping resistances in the plantar-flexion and dorsi-flexion directions. An electronic control system coupled to the ankle joint mechanism includes at least one sensor for generating signals indicative of a kinetic or kinematic parameter of locomotion, the mechanism and the control system being arranged such that the damping resistances effective over the range of motion of the ankle are adapted automatically in response to such signals. Single and dual piston hydraulic damping arrangements are disclosed, including arrangements allowing independent heel-height adjustment.
KNEE JOINT, PROSTHETIC LEG, AND ROTATIONAL RESISTANCE MODULE
A knee joint includes: a thigh connection portion that is provided on a thigh portion side; a lower leg portion that is connected to the thigh connection portion and rotatably provided around a knee shaft; a knee angle restrictor structured to restrict a relative rotation of the thigh connection portion and the lower leg portion such that a knee angle θ formed by the thigh connection portion with respect to the lower leg portion does not exceed a predetermined lock angle θ.sub.L; and an accommodation space that accommodates a rotational resistor applying resistance to the rotation around the knee shaft in a case where the knee angle θ is equal to or less than the lock angle θ.sub.L.
HYDRAULIC PROSTHETIC ANKLE
A prosthetic ankle device is disclosed herein. The prosthetic ankle device includes a hydraulic cylinder with a first chamber, a second chamber, and a piston separating the first chamber and the second chamber. The chambers are filled with hydraulic fluid. During plantarflexion, the hydraulic fluid flows between the first chamber and the second chamber via a first passage and a first check valve. During dorsiflexion, the hydraulic fluid flows between the first chamber and the second chamber via a second passage and a second check valve. The ankle device includes a third passage and a third check valve, where the third passage diverts flow of the hydraulic fluid from the second passage based at least in part on a system status.
PROSTHETIC KNEE WITH SWING ASSIST
The present disclosure provides for a device and method of control for an artificial prosthetic knee. A prosthetic knee according to the present disclosure relies on strictly passive means of providing support during weight bearing and supplements a resistive swing-phase mechanism with a small powered actuator. This actuator adds power to the knee, exclusively during swing phase, to improve swing-phase behavior. In particular, the knee still relies on the resistive swing-phase mechanism to provide nominal swing-phase knee motion, but supplements that motion as needed with the small powered actuator.
SHOCK ABSORBER SYSTEM FOR A PROSTHESIS
In embodiments, a shock absorber system for a prosthesis includes an outer housing having a bore and attachable to a prosthetic limb; an inner housing, attachable to a prosthetic socket, within the bore for axial and rotational movement relative to the outer housing; a first resilient element within the outer housing that resists axial movement of the inner housing into the bore and urges the inner housing back to an uncompressed configuration; and alternatively or in addition a second resilient element within the outer housing that resists rotational movement of the inner housing relative to the outer housing, wherein a torsional force urging relative rotation between the inner housing and the outer housing causes compression of the second resilient element such that the second resilient element resists the torsional force and urges the inner housing and outer housing back to an aligned configuration.
