20220331128 · 2022-10-20 ·

An artificial knee that includes a first knee component having an extension member, a second knee component having a slot configured and dimensioned to allow the extension member to move therein. A fastener connects the knee components to facilitate rotation of the knee components between an upright and rotated positions. The knee components also include a terminal end that includes a central opening and transverse apertures to receive pylons therein. A biasing member of a flexible rod or tube of an elastomeric material urges the knee components towards the upright position when the knee components are rotated. The biasing member passes through the apertures of the terminal ends of the knee components, as well as through the extension member and the slot. Also, a prosthetic leg along with a kit and method for assembling the prosthetic leg.

The invention relates to prosthetic foot assembly comprising a prosthetic foot and a series elastic pneumatic actuator connected to the prosthetic foot, the series elastic pneumatic actuator being configurable between a first configuration in which the prosthetic foot is displaced to a first, rest position and a second configuration in which the prosthetic foot is displaced to a second position.

PROSTHETIC-FOOT INSERT AND FORCE-TRANSMISSION ELEMENT, AND SYSTEM COMPOSED THEREOF
20230201008 · 2023-06-29 ·

The invention relates to a system composed of a prosthetic-foot insert (1), comprising: a proximal attachment device (2) for fixing the prosthetic-foot insert (1) on a stump or a prosthetic component; and at least one sole element (3), which is connected to the attachment device (2); wherein the system comprises a plurality of different force-transmission elements (4, 5), which can be fastened to the at least one sole element (3) at at least one fastening region (34, 35) and comprise various distal sole contours (41, 51) and/or various force-transmission regions (42, 52).

Orthopedic knee joint and method for controlling an orthopedic knee joint

An orthopedic knee joint having an upper part with upper connecting features, a lower part which is mounted pivotably on the upper part and has connecting features for prosthetic components, and a stop for limiting an extension movement. The stop is coupled to an adjusting device, which is coupled to a control device that actuates the adjusting device as a function of sensor data and changes the position of the stop. If the knee joint is provided with an adjustable extension stop position, the extension stop can be shifted forward for walking which results in a greater inclination at heel strike in order to flex the knee joint and, therefore, increased damping upon initiation of the stance phase. For standing, the adjusting device can be activated so that the extension stop is reversed, such that a statically more secure orthosis or prosthesis set-up can be obtained.

BIDIRECTIONAL BIOMECHANICAL PROSTHETIC FULL FINGER CONFIGURED FOR ABDUCTION AND ADDUCTION WITH MCP PIVOT

The disclosure provides apparatus and methods of use pertaining to a bidirectional biomechanical prosthetic finger assembly. In one embodiment, the assembly includes an eccentric metacarpophalangeal (MCP) pivot configured for swivelable attachment to a hand of a user, a distal coupler, and an articulation assembly rotatively coupled therebetween. A ring configured to receive a user's residual finger is disposed upon the articulation assembly, and may be adjusted to a target location based on a length of the residual finger. The articulation assembly is configured to utilize vertical movements of the residual finger within the ring to articulate the distal coupler within a plane parallel to an x-z plane, and the MCP pivot is configured to utilize lateral movements of the residual finger within the ring to articulate the distal coupler within a plane parallel to an x-y plane. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

System for control of a prosthetic device

A control system for control of a prosthetic device having a plurality of actuators receives an orientation signal indicative of a desired movement. The control system evaluates whether the prosthetic device may move as desired with a current angle of rotation and commands at least one actuator to move the prosthetic device as desired by maintaining the current angle of rotation or by adjusting the angle of rotation if the prosthetic device cannot move as desired with the current angle. The control system may alternate between commanding a first subset of actuators and a second subset of actuators each time the orientation signal is indicative of a neutral position. The control system may include a position sensor and a compliance sensor and may command at least one actuator based on a combination of positional control using the position sensor and force control using the compliance sensor.

POLYCENTRIC POWERED ANKLE PROSTHESIS
20170290684 · 2017-10-12 ·

Systems and methods are disclosed for a powered ankle prosthesis. The prosthesis may comprise a polycentric mechanism having a defined path for an instantaneous center of rotation. The path of the instantaneous center of rotation may be defined by a trajectory substantially equal to an arc positioned over a joint of the polycentric mechanism.

PROSTHETIC FOOT COMPONENT

The invention relates to a prosthetic foot component comprising a proximal fastening system for securing the prosthetic foot component to a proximal component, a retaining portion situated distally relative to the fastening system and coupled to the latter, an elastic heel element provided on the retaining portion, and a main spring extending in a front-foot region and coupled to the retaining portion, wherein the main spring is mounted in the heel element between a proximal heel component and a distal heel component.

Pump system

A prosthetic system includes a prosthetic foot having an upper foot element with a concave-forward facing portion and foot portion extending forwardly therefrom. An intermediate foot element is disposed below the upper foot element and has a front portion coupled to the foot portion of the upper foot element. A lower foot element is disposed below the intermediate foot element. A pump system is coupled to the prosthetic foot and comprises a pump mechanism including a housing defining a cavity, and a membrane situated in the cavity. The pump mechanism is movable between an original configuration and an expanded configuration. An arm member is connected to the pump mechanism and operatively coupled to the intermediate foot element. The arm member is arranged to move the pump mechanism toward at least the expanded configuration upon movement of the intermediate foot element relative to the upper foot element.
