A prosthesis having a prosthetic foot with a forefoot area and a heel area, a prosthetic lower leg, and a prosthetic foot adapter for arranging the prosthetic foot on the prosthetic lower leg. The prosthetic foot adapter includes an upper part for fixing it to the prosthetic lower leg such that it is torque-proof in relation to a sagittal plane, a lower part for fixing it to the prosthetic foot such that it is torque-proof in relation to a sagittal plane, and a resistance element. The upper part can be swivelled on the lower part about a swivel axis against a restoring force exerted by the restoring element, the swivel axis extending from the heel area to the forefoot area.

Features for prosthetic digits are described. The digits mimic natural fingers by having multiple articulating segments, for example three, that can rotate varying amounts. Actuation systems for the prosthetic digits may include a compact actuator that expands linearly to rotate the digit. Each digit may have its own actuator, which may be housed in the digit and/or the palm. A motor may rotate a leadscrew. The leadscrew may engage and move axially a housing or other member. Axial movement of the housing or member causes the proximal digit segment to pivot and thus the digit to articulate. In some embodiments, the leadscrew may rotate a wheel to actuate a tendon. An actuation tendon may cause a closing rotation of the digit segments, and a return tendon may cause an opening rotation.

An artificial knee that includes a first knee component having an extension member, a second knee component having a slot configured and dimensioned to allow the extension member to move therein. A fastener connects the knee components to facilitate rotation of the knee components between an upright and rotated positions. The knee components also include a terminal end that includes a central opening and transverse apertures to receive pylons therein. A biasing member of a flexible rod or tube of an elastomeric material urges the knee components towards the upright position when the knee components are rotated. The biasing member passes through the apertures of the terminal ends of the knee components, as well as through the extension member and the slot. The cover element is pivotally mounted about a pivot axis on one prosthetic part, a component of a cosmetic prosthetic element, said component being secured to one prosthetic part or one joint part or the prosthetic joint and is coupled to the joint upper part of the prosthetic joint via at least one coupling element in a form- and/or force-fitting manner such that a pivotal movement of the prosthetic parts about the joint axis leads to a simultaneous pivotal movement of the cover element about the pivot axis.

At least one tensioner is attached to the at least one tensioning element that selectively tensions the tensioning element to adjust a circumference of at least one area of the socket system.

Prosthetic knee

A prosthetic knee includes a housing, a chassis, and a brake member pivotally connected to the housing at a first location point and to the chassis at a second location point. A knee shaft extends through the brake member and is secured within a cavity defined by the housing. An extension assist system includes a biasing mechanism located inside of the chassis and an extension assist link. The extension assist link includes a body portion operatively connected to the biasing mechanism and a pair of arm portions situated in at least one slot defined by the knee shaft. The arm portions are pivotally connected to the knee shaft at a third location point located a distance from the first location point.

An adjustable counterbalance mechanism for a prosthetic elbow includes a torsional spring disposed in a housing structure coaxially to an axis of rotation of a forearm portion and a cord and pulley arrangement which includes a first pulley, a second pulley and a link member attached to a fixed member structure. The first pulley is attached to a second portion of the spring and connected to the second pulley by a first cord. The second pulley is pivotally attached to the housing structure and connected to the link member by a second cord. The cord and pulley arrangement is configured to transfer a moment of force due to spring force to the forearm portion to counteract the torque of a forearm due to gravity as the angle of the forearm portion changes relative to the upper arm portion.

HYBRID-TYPE ARTIFICIAL LIMB DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

A hybrid artificial limb device is provided. A hybrid artificial limb device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention comprises: a joint upper side connection member positioned at the upper side of a knee; a knee joint member connected to the joint upper side connection member; and a frame coupled to the knee joint member to be able to perform a pivot rotation, and forming a femoral part. The hybrid artificial limb device also comprises: a passive driving module which includes a hydraulic cylinder connected to the knee joint member, so as to transfer passive power to the knee joint member; and an active driving module which is coupled to the knee joint member so as to transfer active power to the knee joint member. When the frame performs a pivot rotation about the knee joint member, the passive power from the passive driving module and the active power from the active driving module may be selectively or simultaneously provided to the knee joint member.
