PROSTHETIC LINER
A prosthetic liner includes a flexible elongate, generally conical body portion formed from an elastomeric material. The body portion defines an inner surface, an outer surface forming a liner profile between a distal end and a proximal end, and an axis extending between the distal and proximal ends. At least one seal element extends circumferentially about the axis and protrudes radially outward a distance from the liner profile. The at least one seal element has a seal height defined between the liner profile and a radially outward end of the at least one seal element. The seal height varies circumferentially about the axis between a first seal height and a second seal height.
HEATED SLEEVE FOR A PROSTHETIC LIMB
A heat sleeve for selectively heating a residual limb of an amputee is provided. The heat sleeve includes a first sock member having an open proximal end, a distal end and a continuous side wall, all defining an open interior area configured to receive the residual limb therein. A temperature regulating apparatus includes a thermal adjustment element adapted to be mounted onto an exterior surface of the first sock member proximate the distal end, and a power supply operatively coupled to the thermal adjustment element. When the power supply is in its ON orientation and providing power to the thermal adjustment element, the thermal adjustment element selectively heats the residual limb within the first sock. A second sock member may then receive the residual limb, the first sock member and the flexible heating element therein.
Suspension liner having multiple component system
A suspension liner for a residual limb has a liner body with a plurality of anterior and posterior projections formed from a thickness of the liner body. Medial and lateral tendons are located between and correspond to profiles of the plurality of the anterior and posterior projections such that the medial and lateral tendons are located on opposed sides of the liner body relative to one another. The medial and lateral tendons flare circumferentially toward proximal and distal sections of the liner body.
Perforated Liner
The invention concerns a prosthesis liner for application to a limb stump, with an elastic liner layer (20) of elastomer, wherein the liner layer (20) has pores (26) in at least one distal portion (30) thereof.
PROSTHETIC SLEEVE
A sleeve for mounting a prosthetic unit on a limb is formed in a knitted fabric comprising elastic yarns to allow circumferential extension of the sleeve to grip the limb. Adherent fibres are integrated within the fabric and exposed on the internal surface of the sleeve to provide additional grip. Such fibres can be silicone or silicone based yarns. An end of the sleeve is adapted to couple with a prosthetic unit. The knitted fabric may include yarns of restricted elasticity to limit longitudinal extension of the sleeve, and the elastic yarns and the yarns of restricted elasticity are typically located in discrete sections (2, 4, 6) of the sleeve. Such discrete sections will normally extend longitudinally in the sleeve. The knitted yarns at the end of the sleeve are normally bonded directly to a coupling element (8, 10, 12) for attachment to a prosthetic unit.
Methods and apparatuses for fitting an object
Linings for fitting an object to a body part, and their use, are provided. The lining may include a flexible sheet having a fluid impenetrable outer portion enclosing an internal volume and the lining may include barriers forming a number of compartments substantially secured in place within the internal volume. The barriers may be permeable to gas and/or liquid, yet may be impermeable to the conformable material and the gas and/or liquid may be supplied to or aspirated from one or more compartments within the internal volume. Aspiration of gas and/or liquid from the internal volume may limit both deformation of the conformable material and shape adjustment of the flexible sheet.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR INCREASING THE PROXIMAL MOVEMENT OF BLOOD OR LYMPH
Embodiments are directed to devices configured to assist the flow of fluids in the body. The device comprises a covering for placing on the skin of a patient having protrusions which can contact the skin. The protrusions have a base proximal to a surface of the covering and an outer edge distal to the surface of the covering. Protrusions can be configured in an array, in a line perpendicular to desired fluid flow or in a spiral configuration, such that fluid flow is enhanced in the appropriate direction. The device can be configured as a prosthesis, an orthotic, a liner for a prosthesis or orthotic, or a wrap or covering that is positioned around a body part. The body part can be part of a lower limb, part of an upper limb, or other body part.
Lower limb prosthesis comprising a hydraulic damping and a vacuum generating mechanism
A lower limb prosthesis comprises a foot component and an ankle unit pivotally mounted to the foot component. The ankle unit comprises an ankle joint mechanism comprising a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly for providing hydraulic damping whenever the ankle joint flexes, and a vacuum mechanism comprising a pneumatic piston and cylinder assembly for generating a vacuum. The hydraulic and pneumatic piston and cylinder assemblies are arranged such that the vacuum mechanism generates a vacuum during plantar-flexion of the ankle unit.
PROSTHESIS LINER
The invention relates to a prosthesis liner with a base body made of an elastic inner material which comprises an open proximal end, a closed distal end opposite the proximal end, and a longitudinal extension, which extends from the proximal end to the distal end, a bi-elastic textile layer arranged on or in the liner material, and a connection region that is arranged and configured to be connected to a prosthesis socket, wherein the textile layer has, in a section that extends proximally from the connection region, at least one tension element by means of which the elasticity of the textile layer is reduced in the longitudinal direction of the base body.
Knitted-Fabric Part for Orthopedic and Prosthetic Devices
A knitted-fabric part including a basic part knitted with at least one knitted-fabric thread, and at least one extension part attached to the basic part to form a contiguous and intact structure. At least one unravelable connecting thread attaches the basic part to the at least one extension part, such that removal of the at least one unravelable connecting thread separates the basic part from the at least one extension part.
