PROSTHESIS SOCKET AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A prosthesis socket comprising a proximal entry open and a distal end or a distal end region and a fastening system provided there for a prosthesis component, wherein the prosthesis socket has a frame consisting of a fiber-reinforced plastic material with at least one opening, a textile which spans the opening being fixed to the frame.
Prosthetic Liner With External Elastomeric Seal
A prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic socket that has a thermoplastic elastomeric (TPE) layer that is in contact with the amputee's residual limb. The TPE layer is not uniform in thickness but has ridges to extend circumferentially around the TPE layer. A fabric exterior layer covers the outer surface of the TPE layer conforming to the ridges and is used as a substrate to form a mechanical bond to an elastomeric material. Impregnating the elastomeric material within the fabric exterior occurs by applying an uncured material to the fabric exterior layer and onto at least the apex surfaces located within the sealing regions thereby creating an air tight boundary layer when inserted into a socket. When a vacuum is applied the air is evacuated from the volume below the seal layer. An alternative embodiment comprises a silicone or elastomeric liner with at least one non-unitary sealing element made of silicone or other thermoplastic elastomer further comprising a single radially extending, straight or arcuate silicone or a elastomeric engaging member.
Device and method for cleaning a prosthetic liner
A method for supporting a pin-type prosthetic liner includes placing the liner in an inverted state on a standoff extending from the base of a liner stand. The standoff extends to an upper end that supports the liner on the liner stand. The upper end is an open end that receives the pin of the inverted liner being supported on the liner stand.
Walking canister system and device for amputee socket manufacture and associated methods
The walking canister system and method are for manufacturing a prosthetic socket. The system includes a rigid canister, a suspension bladder positioned within the rigid canister, and an outer chamber wicking material arranged in an outer chamber defined between the suspension bladder and the rigid canister. A foam insert includes a contoured exterior surface configured to transfer pressure through to an interior surface thereof to produce consistent surface contact with a residual limb, of a walking patient, having casting material thereon. An inner chamber wicking material is arranged in an inner chamber defined between the foam insert and the suspension bladder. An outer chamber vacuum port is in fluid communication with the outer chamber, and an inner chamber vacuum port is in fluid communication with the inner chamber. An outer chamber suspension sleeve is configured to extend from the residual limb and over the rigid canister.
Breathable Residual-Limb Socket System
Breathable residual-limb system that admits air and allows sweat to evaporate from the surface of the residual limb. In an embodiment, the system comprises a liner sock to be worn on the residual limb, and comprising air-permeable textile forming a substantially cylindrical portion that is closed on a distal end and open on a proximal end and comprising an internal surface and an external surface. The liner sock further comprises a friction-interface material that covers only a portion of the internal surface of the air-permeable textile, such that, when worn on the residual limb, the friction-interface material contacts a surface of the residual limb, and an uncovered portion of the air-permeable textile which the friction-interface material does not cover allows air to pass between an external environment of the liner sock and the surface of the residual limb.
PROSTHETIC LINER AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM, METHOD, AND CORRESPONDING COMPONENTS FOR MAKING SUCH PROSTHETIC LINER
An additive manufacturing system and method for making components having filaments formed by elastomeric materials. A liner includes the filaments formed by an elastomeric material and is adapted for a prosthetic device system. The filaments form an elastomeric lattice structure and solid layers or features and define a ventilated structure permitting a transfer of air and moisture from an interior volume of the liner to an exterior or ambient liner. The liner may incorporate an adhesive and a textile layer secured to the elastomeric lattice structure and further define recesses and other features for improving a liner.
Prosthetic limb kit and method of manufacture
A prosthetic limb is made from a portable kit that is of relatively low cost and easy to assemble and custom fit to a person in need so that the person can wear the prosthetic immediately, without having to wait for the prosthetic to be manufactured off-site. The embodiments include a below the knee device and an above the knee device that includes an artificial knee. The improved prosthetic is suited for replacing a missing leg but can also be adapted to replace another body part such as an arm, hand or foot.
CONVECTION LINER FOR USE IN REGULATED ENVIRONMENTS FOR ARTIFICIAL LIMBS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
The conformable convection liner is for use with a prosthetic system and configured to be donned over a residual limb of an amputee. The conformable convection liner includes a tubular body formed from an elastomeric limb-conforming material and including an outer surface and inner surface extending between a proximal end and a distal end thereof. A seal area is defined at the proximal end of the tubular body on the inner surface thereof. An outlet port is positioned at the distal end of the tubular body between the inner and outer surfaces thereof. An inner regulated environment is defined between the inner surface of the tubular body and the residual limb, the inner regulated environment extending between the proximal end of the tubular body with the seal area and the distal end of the tubular body with the outlet port. One or more internal convection guides are formed in the elastomeric limb-conforming material on the internal surface of the tubular body below the seal area and configured to promote the flow of fluid within the inner regulated environment towards the outlet port at the distal end of the tubular body.
LIMB PROSTHESIS WITH A SEALING MEMBER BETWEEN A LINER AND A SOCKET
A limb prosthesis includes a liner, a shell, and at least one sealing member. The at least one sealing member is secured to and circumferentially surrounds the liner. The at least one sealing member is disposed between the liner and the shell and enhances security of the attachment of the shell to the liner.
PROSTHESIS CARRING BARREL SUCTION-ATTACHING JOINT WITH LOCKING FUNCTION
A prosthesis carrying barrel suction-attaching joint with locking function, particularly a joint specifically for suction-attachment to a carrying barrel, includes a positioning mechanism, which forms, in a center thereof, a positioning pin hole for receiving a positioning pin to dispose therein. The positioning mechanism is provided, in a lateral direction, with a penetration passage and a vacuum release passage in communication with the positioning pin hole. The penetration passage has two ends on opposite sides of the positioning pin hole. One of the ends is provided with a regulation assembly and another one provided with a locking assembly. The locking assembly includes a constraint block for retaining the positioning pin so that a chamber for vacuum regulation is formed in the site where the regulation assembly is arranged. Pressing down the locking assembly allows external air to flow through the vacuum release passage into the chamber to release the vacuum.
