UPPER EXTREMITY PROSTHESIS
An upper extremity prosthesis for placement on a residual limb of a person that includes an elongated member having a first end and an opposite second end and also includes an outer prosthetic shell having a first end and an opposite second end. The prosthesis also includes at least a first support and a second support, wherein the first support and the second support surround and are fixedly coupled to the elongated member at first and second attachment points, respectively. The outer prosthetic shell thus surrounds and is coupled to the first support and the second support. The first support and the second support can be a disk-shaped structure through which the elongated member passes.
Osseointegrated implant assembly having transverse through-openings, and systems and methods of using same
An implant assembly for a long bone having a longitudinal axis. The implant assembly has a stem that is received in a surgically prepared medullary canal of the long bone. The stem defines at least one transverse through-opening that extends through the stem from a first portion of the outer surface of the stem to an opposed second portion of the outer surface of the stem. Each transverse through-opening has a central axis that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the stem. Each transverse through-opening receives a fastener and has a longitudinal dimension, measured relative to the longitudinal axis of the stem, that is sufficient to permit axial movement, relative to the longitudinal axis of the stem, of the stem relative to each fastener.
Prosthetic Attachment Device for Osseointegrated Implants
Technology is described which can provide a quick disconnect and overload protection mechanism for a prosthetic limb that is used with an osseointegrated percutaneous post. The technology can provide a way to easily don and doff a prosthetic limb. This quick disconnect may also provide a resettable torsional overload protection mechanism and/or a fusible link that may act to protect the osseointegrated percutaneous post from both axial and bending over-loads.
PROSTHETIC COUPLING INTERFACES AND METHODS OF USE
Prosthetic coupling interfaces and methods of use are disclosed herein. An example system can include an external fixator apparatus, a prosthetic appendage assembly, and a prosthetic coupling interface for connecting the external fixator apparatus with the prosthetic appendage assembly.
Prosthesis Connection System
A prosthesis includes first and second prosthetic limb components and a fastening system for fastening the first and second prosthetic limb components. The first prosthetic limb component is provided with a first coupling member and the second prosthetic limb component is provided with a second coupling member. The first coupling member includes a cylindric member having an axis, with a wall generally parallel with said axis. The second coupling member includes a circular skirt element having an axis and having corresponding external dimensions to the cylindric member whereby to permit a sliding fit therewith in an unfastened state. The fastening system includes a resilient member having an axis and is operable to expand laterally, orthogonally with respect to the axis such that, in a coupling mode of operation, the lateral expansion operates to cause the skirt to be in a state of frictional engagement with the other coupling member.
Anchoring system for attaching a prosthesis to a human body
The present invention relates to an anchoring system for attaching a prosthesis to a human body, comprising: an anchoring element, an abutment, an abutment screw for attaching the abutment to the anchoring element, the anchoring element comprises a connection area for the abutment, the connection area comprising a press-fit portion such that the abutment is attached to the anchoring element in the connection area by a press-fit connection, wherein the connection area comprises an anti-rotation geometry and the abutment comprising a corresponding mating anti-rotation geometry proximal to the press-fit portion, and where in the connection area comprises a conical portion proximal to the anti-rotational geometry forming a mating geometry for a corresponding conical portion in the through-hole of the abutment.
Modular transdermal compress device
A modular transdermal assembly configured to couple an external prosthetic device to a bone stump. The assembly includes a modular transdermal portion and a bone fixator. The modular transdermal portion includes an interface portion configured to couple with the external prosthetic device. The bone fixator is configured to be secured to the bone stump and couple with the modular transdermal portion to retain the modular transdermal portion relative to the bone stump.
Modular prosthetic abutment system
An abutment system for operatively coupling an implant stem to an exo-prosthesis. The abutment system includes a plurality of interlocking sleeve elements that are operatively coupled to an implant stem positioned within a prepared site of a selected bone. The interlocking sleeve elements of the abutment system are selectively removable and replaceable.
Sensing strategies for health assessment of osseointegrated prostheses
A method and an osseointegrated prosthesis system having an osseointegrated prosthesis member are provided having a monitoring system operably coupled to the osseointegrated prosthesis member configured to quantitatively assess the osseointegration of the osseointegrated prosthesis member, a wave-generating element coupled to the osseointegrated prosthesis member and configured to output guided waves along the osseointegrated prosthesis member interrogating an interface between bone and the osseointegrated prosthesis member, and a sensing system configured to sense a condition of the interface between bone and the prosthesis.
PROSTHESIS SYSTEM
In the case of known prosthesis systems and socket supplies, the transmission of force is a critical issue. The inventive prosthesis system shall improve known prosthesis systems. According to the invention, a prosthesis system for human limbs is provided, which comprises an implant (101) having at least two joint parts which are movable relative to each other, wherein the first joint part (110) can be connected to a bone part (131, 132) and the second joint part (120) comprises a subcutaneously arrangeable end part (124) on the side being remote from the joint. The invention further relates to a prosthesis system comprising a subcutaneous implant and a socket (170).
