METHOD AND APPARATUSES FOR MANIPULATING AN ENDOCRINE BODY-TEMPERATURE SET-POINT IN HUMANS AND WARM-BLOODED ANIMALS
20230201029 · 2023-06-29 ·

A method and apparatus for manipulating a temperature set-point of a human or homeothermic-animal for increasing or decreasing the body temperature above or below the prevailing body temperature for therapeutic purposes. The method includes the steps of warming or cooling sphenoid sinuses externally resulting in manipulation of the temperature of the pituitary gland which in turn results in manipulation of the body-temperature set-point and the body temperature manipulates accordingly to the new temperature set-point. A heat exchange medium can be used to warm or cool sphenoid sinuses and thus the pituitary gland. The heat exchange fluid can be liquid, or gas maintained at a predetermined temperature. Alternatively, a temperature-controlled probe can be used that upon contact with the sphenoid sinuses provides for the heat exchange.

HYPERTHERMIA THERAPY MASK

The present invention relates to a hyperthermia mask used in the field of medical appliances. The hyperthermia mask of the present invention comprises a mask surface body and a tensioning belt, the mask surface body is made of phase change fibers or the mask surface body is filled with the phase change fibers; the phase change fibers are composed of hollow fibers and phase change materials filled into the hollow fibers; and the phase change materials have a phase change temperature of 40° C.-55° C. The hyperthermia mask of the present invention is prepared based on phase change heat storage, is convenient to use and has a good hyperthermia effect.

DEVICE FOR REMOVING HEAT, ENERGY, AND/OR FLUID FROM A LIVING MAMMAL

The present invention provides improved devices for removing energy and fluid from body fluid containing spaces and surfaces of a mammal, the devices including isolated air and water delivery systems configured to simultaneously deliver streams of dry air and liquid water to the nostrils of a patient, without allowing the streams to come into contact with one-another until it enters the patient's nostrils.

A heated mask comprises a user-operated control providing a number of different parameters including temperature and duration of heat application. At least one area contains a heater element. The heated mask covers an upper portion of a face and has areas positioned to be in registration with sinuses of a user. The heating element in one form comprises a serpentine conductor having a path through each area and having a preselected resistance in each area. In another form, a plurality of separate electrodes are provided, each in one selected area. Each electrode section is separately controlled to provide a preselected level of heat. It has been found that selected temperatures for a heater provide relief for sinus congestion, and that particular combinations of relative setting of a plurality of electrodes are associated with enhanced therapeutic results.

Personal inhaling device

A personal inhaling apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an ultrasonic personal inhaler with ultra-fine mist transducer that delivers both cool and warm mist using a heater, a face mask, a fluid supply means, and a power source including batteries and/or corded power supply. The apparatus may include a receptacle for a scented pad placed in contact with the heater. Indicators functioning in a pre-determined manner provide indication on if the device is delivering a cool mist, a warm mist, is switched-OFF, a level of charge of a power source, and a level of the fluid in the fluid supply means.
