APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR AT LEAST ONE OF ICING, HEATING, AND COMPRESSING A USER'S BODY PART
A wearable device for at least one of icing, heating and compressing a user’s body part is disclosed. The wearable device comprises an inner part and an outer part. The outer part is arranged with the inner part such that the outer part surrounds the inner part. A compartment is defined by the space between the outer part and the inner part and above the first attaching means. A compression force is provided by the second set of elastic properties compressing at least one of the hot element and the cold element against the user’s body part thereby eliminating a second attaching means above the first attaching means within the compartment. At least one handle is in attachment with the outer part. The wearable device further comprises at least one band disposed on the outer part between the outer part upper end and outer part lower end.
Cooling pack
Described are various embodiments of a cooling pack. In one such embodiment a cooling pack is provided for cooling a crotch region of a human while seated on a seating surface, the cooling pack comprising a tapered container for holding a cooling material therein, and defined by tapering upper and lower surfaces drawing into a tapered edge to be positioned between the crotch region and the seating surface in use, thereby providing cooling for the region.
COOLING EQUIPMENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COOLING EQUIPMENT
This cooling apparatus includes a tube (10) having an opening portion (10a) in one end portion in a longitudinal direction thereof, a cap (30) capable of opening/closing the opening portion (10a), a non-freezing drinkable coolant (20) that fills the tube (10), and a container (50) that contains the tube (10) filled with the coolant (20). The tube has a constricted portion (10d) having a reduced inner diameter.
Therapeutic garment
A therapeutic garment for cooling an arm of a user includes a vest that is configured to position over a torso of the user. A sleeve is coupled to and extends from a circumference of an armhole of the vest so that the sleeve is configured to insert the arm of the user. The sleeve comprises an inner layer that is coupled to an outer layer so that the inner layer and the outer layer define an interior space. The interior space extends from a cuff of the sleeve to the armhole. An orifice is positioned in the outer layer proximate to the armhole. The orifice is configured to selectively insert a cooling material into the interior space, positioning the cooling material to cool the arm of the user. A closure is coupled to the outer layer proximate to the orifice and is positioned to selectively and sealably close the orifice.
BACK SUPPORT DEVICES WITH INTEGRATED THERMAL THERAPY AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
An integrated storage pouch apparatus for a back support and thermal therapy device for supporting and applying thermal therapy to a user's back which includes a back support member having a first surface and an opposing second surface, the first surface configured to face and support a user's back, a thermal therapy storage compartment integrally formed between the first and second surfaces of the back support member and configured to store a thermal pack, first and second adjustable strap members coupled to opposite ends of the back support member, each of the first and second adjustable strap members are configured to wrap around a user's knee, wherein the back support member folds inside out to through the thermal therapy storage compartment to form a strap storage compartment configured to receive and store the first and second adjustable strap members. The combined back support and thermal therapy apparatus provides thermal therapy to the user, while at the same time using the user's knees to help support the user in a proper healthy posture, when sitting.
Low-power method and device for cooling prosthetic limb socket based on phase change
A prosthesis includes a socket for receiving a residual limb, the socket having a socket wall defining a limb-receiving surface; a heat pipe including a working fluid and a wicking structure, the heat pipe having a socket section and a heat sink section, the heat pipe extending along its length through the socket wall proximate to or exposed at the limb-receiving surface, wherein the working fluid has a boiling point of from about 0° C. to 90° C. such that the working fluid is adapted to evaporate to form vapor under the influence of the heat of a residual limb in the socket thus drawing heat from and cooling the residual limb. A heat sink section of the heat pipe passes through the heat sink, the heat sink reducing the temperature of the working fluid.
Heat exchanging pack
A heat exchanging pack comprises a substance receiving portion, a first strap receiving portion disposed adjacent a first side of the substance receiving portion, a second strap receiving portion disposed adjacent a second side of the substance receiving portion, and a strap configured for releasably coupling the heat exchanging pack to a portion of a body. The strap includes a first portion extending through the first strap receiving portion, a second portion extending between the first strap receiving portion and the second strap receiving portion, a third portion extending through the second strap receiving portion, and a fourth portion extending out from the first strap receiving portion. The second portion and the fourth portion of the strap are configured to extend at least partially around a portion of a user in need of treatment to releasably couple the heat exchanging pack to the portion of the user.
Hand-held mouthpiece for cooling of oral tissue of a user
A mouthpiece having particular suitability for cooling oral tissue of a patient undergoing chemotherapy or other medical treatments in which reducing oral cavity temperature is beneficial. The mouthpiece includes a cooling medium contained within the top element and the bottom element and able to retain a cooling environment within the mouth, preferably sufficient to reduce capillary blood flow to the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, an external chamber extends from the front of the mouthpiece to house a cooling medium. A bladder is positioned inside the external chamber for storing a solution having a freezing temperature above the freezing point temperature of the cooling medium to assist in cooling the cooling medium. At least one breathing tube extends through the external chamber to permit a patient to breathe through the mouth when the mouthpiece is emplaced within the mouth in the operative close-fitting relationship.
Fillable Palm Cooling Device
A fillable palm cooling device is described. The fillable palm cooling device is configured to be filled with a cool substance, and includes at least a first endcap configured to be removed to enable the fillable tube to be filled with the cool substance. The fillable tube is configured to be held in palms of both hands of a person to cool the palms of both hands of the person when the fillable tube is filled with the cool substance.
