CHRONIC LOWER EXTREMITY WOUND TREATMENT MONITORING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20230157897 · 2023-05-25 ·

A lower extremity wound system can include a lower extremity wound treatment monitoring device and an external user interface. The monitoring device can be associated with a primary wound dressing. In general, the sensors would not be placed in direct contact with the wound, and may also include within a base unit and placed on a posterior calf of the patient. The base unit can include multiple sensors, a controller, and a communication module. The controller can receive and process information from the sensors, and algorithmically determine whether to communicate information relating to the information from the sensors via the communication module to an external recipient. The external wound care information system can receive the information from the sensors, and if appropriate, can prompt a patient to alter their behavior so they are in compliance with their wound treatment plan, or inform a patient-care provider of a status change.

Occlusive chest wound seal with a one-way vent for preventing and treating tension pneumothorax

A vented chest wound seal for a penetrating chest wound includes a flexible sheet including a top surface and a bottom surface, an adhesive hydrogel layer covering a portion of the bottom surface of the flexible sheet, and a plurality of vent channels. The adhesive hydrogel layer includes an inner perimeter and an outer perimeter, and the outer perimeter forms a continuous perimeter of hydrogel along a bottom surface of the flexible sheet. A plurality of vent channels, each including a first opening to a space inside of the inner perimeter, extend radially outward to an outer terminal end vent to the top surface of the flexible sheet. The outer terminal end is spaced apart from the outer perimeter of the adhesive hydrogel layer towards the central portion of the chamber.

Therapy delivery systems and methods

Fluid removal systems and methods for removing a fluid from a tissue site are presented. The systems include a semi-permeable inbound conduit, which is fluidly coupled to a treatment-fluid delivery unit, for placement proximate to the tissue site, and a semi-permeable outbound conduit, which is fluidly coupled to the inbound conduit and to a treatment-fluid collector, for placement proximate to the tissue site of a patient. The treatment-fluid collector receives a treatment fluid and a recruited fluid from the tissue site. A recruited-fluid determination unit may be coupled to the treatment-fluid collector to determine a volume of the recruited fluid recruited from the patient. The treatment fluid is any fluid (including a gas) that pulls the fluid from an interstitial and intracellular space. A reduced-pressure treatment subsystem may also be included, among other things, for removing ascites and other fluids from a body cavity.

SHEAR RESISTANT WOUND DRESSING FOR USE IN VACUUM WOUND THERAPY
20230190534 · 2023-06-22 ·

A cover layer for a vacuum wound therapy dressing includes a backing layer formed from a flexible polymeric membrane and an adhesive layer for affixing the backing layer over a wound bed to provide a substantially fluid-tight seal around a perimeter of the wound bed. The cover layer is reinforced with a reinforcement layer extending to a peripheral region of the backing layer to distribute forces associated with evacuating a reservoir, as defined by or within the cover, to stimulate healing of the wound bed.

COLLAPSIBLE STRUCTURE FOR WOUND CLOSURE AND METHOD OF USE
20230190532 · 2023-06-22 ·

In some embodiments, a negative pressure wound closure system and methods for using such a system are described. Certain disclosed embodiments facilitate closure of the wound by preferentially contracting to exert force on the tissue. Some embodiments may utilize a collapsible structure with a plurality of cells.

Vacuum bandage packing

A vacuum bandage is provided for use with a wound having a wound surface. The bandage is connectable to a vacuum source and includes a wound dressing member having a wound contacting surface, a top surface, and a port configured for communication with the vacuum source. The wound dressing member further includes holes in the wound contacting surface configured for communication with the wound surface of the wound and a passageway between the port and each hole. The vacuum bandage further includes a pack adjacent to the top surface of the member. The pack may include an aperture positioned about the port.

Wound dressing

A method and apparatus are disclosed for dressing a wound. The apparatus comprises a sealing layer comprising at least one orifice, an absorbent layer over the sealing layer, absorbing wound exude and a liquid impermeable, gas permeable filter layer over the absorbent layer.

Apparatus for aspirating, irrigating and cleansing wounds

An apparatus for cleansing wounds in which irrigant fluid from a reservoir connected to a conformable wound dressing and wound exudate from the dressing are recirculated by a device for moving fluid through a flow path which passes through the dressing and a means for fluid cleansing and back to the dressing. The cleansing means (which may be a single-phase, e.g. microfiltration, system or a two-phase, e.g. dialytic system) removes materials deleterious to wound healing, and the cleansed fluid, still containing materials that are beneficial in promoting wound healing, is returned to the wound bed. The dressing and a method of treatment using the apparatus.
