The perineal bandage may further include a reinforced region disposed along a portion of a bottom edge of the bandage, wherein the reinforced region requires a greater amount of force to tear than the bandage and the tearing zones.

The loop is deformable in length in order to fit different digits and wound locations.

The wound dressing generally comprises a backing having a first major surface and a second major surface, an adhesive on the second major surface of the backing, and an absorbent pad proximate the second major surface of the backing. The backing extends beyond the perimeter of the absorbent pad, typically beyond the entire perimeter of the pad. The perimeter of the wound dressing has a concave feature that exhibits a local minimum. An axis extends from the local minimum to the perimeter of the wound dressing opposite the local minimum. The carrier overlies at least a portion of the backing on each side of the axis but does not overlie the backing along the axis. The wound dressing is especially designed for use on round or irregular shaped body parts, such as an elbow or heel.

MEDICAL DRESSING

A medical dressing for prevention of pressure ulcers is described. The dressing has a backing layer, a pad, and a body contact layer, wherein the pad is arranged between the backing layer and the body contact layer. The body contact layer has an adhesive skin contact layer and an anisotropic layer having a first (x) direction and a second (y) direction perpendicular to the first (x) direction. The anisotropic layer is stiffer in the second (y) direction than in the first (x) direction. The dressing reduces shear and compression forces on the skin and in the underlying soft tissue layers and prevents the onset of pressure ulcers.
