PERINEAL BANDAGE FOR VAGINAL DELIVERY
20230055793 · 2023-02-23 ·

A perineal bandage for preventing and treating tears that occur during childbirth. The perineal bandage may comprise a flexible bandage comprising a first side and a second side, wherein the second side comprises an adhesive configured to adhere the bandage to the skin of a patient. The perineal bandage may further include a plurality of tearing zones that tear before the bandage. The perineal bandage may further include a reinforced region disposed along a portion of a bottom edge of the bandage, wherein the reinforced region requires a greater amount of force to tear than the bandage and the tearing zones.

Reduced-pressure systems and methods employing a leak-detection member

Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for detecting leaks in systems for treating a patient with reduced pressure. In one instance, a system includes a distribution manifold for disposing proximate to the tissue site and a sealing member for disposing over the distribution manifold and at least a portion of intact epidermis of the patient. The sealing member has at least a portion that is substantially transparent. The system further includes a reduced-pressure source associated with the distribution manifold for providing reduced pressure to the distribution manifold and a leak-detection member sized and configured to substantially surround the distribution manifold. The leak-detection member includes a detection material that develops a color contrast when a portion is exposed to air and a portion is not exposed to air. The leak detection member works with even low flow systems. Other systems, methods, and apparatus are presented.

A dressing for treating a tissue site with negative pressure may have a first layer comprising a manifold, a second layer coupled to the first layer, a third layer coupled to the second layer opposite the first layer. The second layer is formed from a first closed-cell foam and includes a plurality of apertures through the first closed-cell foam. The third layer is formed from a second closed-cell foam and includes a plurality of fluid restrictions through the second closed-cell foam that are configured to expand in response to a pressure gradient across the second closed-cell foam. The plurality of fluid restrictions are fluidly coupled with at least some of the plurality of apertures in the second layer.

Improved patches and methods for delivering an active substance to the skin using the same

The invention relates to a compression bandage adapted to be wrapped around a body part in a helicoidal manner. The compression bandage has a length (L) and a width (W) and the length (L) is several times greater than the width (W). The compression bandage comprises a starting portion (1) and a central portion (2), wherein the central portion (2) is adjacent to the starting portion (1). The starting portion (1) and the central portion (2) comprise a first part (4) and a second part (5), both extending over the entire length of the central portion (2), the first part (4) extending across a part of the width (W) of the compression bandage and the second part (5) extending across a part of the remaining width of the compression bandage. The first part (4) has a first thickness (T1) and a first width (W1) and the second part (5) has a second thickness (T2) and a second width (W2), wherein at any point along its length, in the starting portion (1) and in the central portion (2), the second width (W2) is at least half the first width (W1) and the first thickness (T1) is greater than the second thickness (T2). The starting portion (1) comprises an extension (6) of the first part (4) protruding past the end of the second part (5).
