A garment for postnatal women for absorbing postpartum bleeding and providing soothing effects during post-partum recovery. The maternal under garment includes an exterior layer having a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. An interior layer overlaps the exterior layer along a front panel and a rear panel of the garment. An upper perimeter of the front panel includes a V-shape, wherein a nadir of the V-shape is centrally positioned on the front panel to comfortably rest below a stomach area of a woman. The maternal under garment includes an adjustable waist band to retract as the stomach area becomes smaller postpartum. Uterine hemostasis devices and related methods are generally described. In some embodiments, a uterine hemostasis device may include a pouch enclosing one or more fluid absorbing bodies for treatment of postpartum hemorrhage. The pouch may be delivered to a patient's uterus, whereby the fluid absorbing bodies may absorb uterine fluids (e.g., blood) and expand to apply pressure to the uterine walls. Following hemostasis of the uterus, the pouch may be extracted with retrieval tethers accessible from the patient's vagina or vaginal opening. In some embodiments, the pouch may be compressed prior to extraction, such that it may pass through the cervical canal more easily. In some embodiments, the pouch may enclose one or more pouches, such that the fluid absorbing bodies may be extracted in batches to facilitate removal. The pouch may be delivered with a syringe-like applicator positioned in the cervical canal.

An intra-uterine device for treating post-partum hemorrhage (PPH) is described, along with an applicator system. In embodiments, the PPH device is comprised of a mesh pouch that is filled with a plurality of sponges. Each sponge is designed to expand upon absorption of fluids, such as blood. The collective expansion of the sponges within the mesh pouch causes the PPH device to expand within a patient's uterus, thus applying pressure to stanch blood flow. The PPH device is loaded into an applicator which is then inserted into a patient, and a corresponding plunger is used to deploy the PPH device. Following completion of treatment, the PPH device may be removed using a removal strand attached to the pouch that is exposed outside of the patient.

A body-contoured, T-shaped pad is designed to treat trauma to the perineal region of a new mother or other patient. The pad design may include specially designed T-shaped pad portions, an integrated ice pack, and relative positioning of the layers which combine to provide both cooling properties and proper absorption. For example, the pad includes an absorptive layer next to the skin, with an ice bag next to the absorptive layer which is designed to accept ice chips from commonly available ice machines found in hospital settings.
