ABSORBENT STRUCTURE COMPRISING CO-FORMED LAYER
An absorbent structure is disclosed, which may be or form part of an absorbent core of an absorbent article. The structure has a caliper, a fluid-receiving side and a non-receiving side. The non-receiving side occupies a first x-y plane; the receiving side occupies a second x-y plane. The structure has a first zone constituting a first portion of the caliper proximate the non-receiving side, and a second zone constituting a second portion of the caliper proximate the receiving side. Each of the zones includes a co-formed blend of constituents. The blend may include AGM particles, spun filaments and/or cellulose fibers. In examples including AGM particles, particles in the first zone may have an average particle size smaller than that of particles in the second zone. In examples including filaments, filaments in the first zone may have an average filament size smaller than that of the filaments in the second zone.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE HAVING ONE OR MORE LAYERS INCLUDING CELLULOSIC FIBERS
An absorbent article that may be used as a feminine hygiene product, such as liner. The absorbent article may include at least one of a topsheet layer, a fluid management layer, an absorbent core layer, a first barrier layer, and a second barrier layer. Each layer included in the absorbent article may include cellulosic material, such as cotton and rayon. Each of the layers of the absorbent article may be void of synthetic fibers and films and/or substantially free of synthetic materials.
FLUID MANAGEMENT LAYER FOR AN ABSORBENT ARTICLE
A fluid management layer including a nonwoven having a basis weight of from about 40 gsm to about 85 gsm. The nonwoven includes from about 15 to about 35 weight percent of cellulosic fibers, from about 20 to about 40 weight percent of bonding fibers, and from about 40 to about 60 weight percent of divider fibers. The fluid management layer has a caliper factor of from about 0.26 to about 0.40, and each of the cellulosic fibers and the bonding fibers have a decitex no greater than about 2.
