An absorbent article comprising a liquid permeable nonwoven topsheet, a nonwoven second material that is a separate material from the topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned intermediate the second material and the backsheet. The second material is positioned intermediate the topsheet and absorbent core and is generally planar. The topsheet comprises a plurality of recesses and raised areas, and voids are defined in the raised areas under the topsheet. A first aperture is formed in a substantially central location of the raised areas. The recesses each form a base positioned most distal from the substantially central locations of the raised areas. A second aperture is formed in the bases of the recesses. The first aperture extends through the topsheet, and the second aperture extends through the topsheet and at least partially through the second material.
Composite dressings for improved granulation and reduced maceration with negative-pressure treatment
A dressing may comprise a manifold having a first planar surface and a second planar surface opposite the first planar surface, and a first layer adjacent to the first planar surface and a second layer adjacent to the second planar surface. The first layer and the second layer may be laminated to the first planar surface and the second planar surface, respectively. Pressure-responsive fluid restrictions through at least one of the first layer and the second layer may be adjacent to the manifold. The first layer and the second layer may also form a sleeve or an envelope around the manifold in some embodiments. At least one of the first layer and the second layer may be configured to be disposed between the manifold and a tissue site in use. In some examples, the dressing may have a smooth or matte surface configured to contact a tissue site.

The exudate management layer has a second component which at least partially overlaps the first component of the exudate management layer and further extends in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article in a direction towards the posterior region of the absorbent article.

An absorbent article such as a diaper comprising an acquisition layer with one or more longitudinally-extending stretch openings is provided. The stretch openings may be obtained by slitting and stretching an acquisition layer material. The topsheet forms recesses at the wearer-facing surface of the absorbent article as it folds inside the stretch openings. The stretch openings may provide a three dimensional profile on the wearer-facing side of the absorbent article in a simple and cost effective manner.

A signal layer for an absorbent article provided to absorb menstrual fluid includes a pattern of capillary channels allowing capillary action such that discharged menstrual fluid that comes across one of the openings in the capillary channels enters into the capillary channels and is retained therein due to the capillary force. The color of the retained menstrual discharge dyes or colors the pattern for signaling purpose, and the pattern is directly or indirectly visible to an observer.

The topsheet forms recesses at the surface of the absorbent article in the gaps between the stripes.
