CATHETER AND ASSEMBLY WITH A POSITIONAL IDENTIFIER FOR A MEDICAL IMPLANT
A catheter includes a positional identifier / marker at a tip section for a medical implant that needs to be aligned rotationally and/or axially and/or in terms of tilting in a human or animal body. The positional identifier is shaped and/or arranged such that a rotational orientation and/or an axial orientation and/or a tilted orientation of the tip section relative to the surrounding tissue is discernable from the position and/or orientation of the positional identifier
Intervertebral implant with keel
An intervertebral implant component of an intervertebral implant includes an outer surface for engaging an adjacent vertebra and an inner surface. A keel extends from the outer surface and is designed to be disposed in a slot provided in the adjacent vertebra. This keel extends in a plane which is non-perpendicular to the outer surface; and preferably there are two of the keels extending from the outer surface which are preferably offset laterally from one another. In another embodiment, an anterior shelf is provided at an anterior end of the outer surface, and this anterior shelf extends vertically away from the inner surface in order to help prevent bone growth from the adjacent vertebra towards the inner surface. Further in accordance with disclosed embodiments, various materials, shapes and forms of construction of the component and/or keel provide various benefits.
Collapsible leaflets for prosthetic heart valves
A prosthetic heart valve may include an expandable stent, a cuff attached to an annulus section of the stent, and a plurality of leaflets disposed within an interior region of the stent and attached to at least one of the cuff or the stent. The stent may have a plurality of cells connected to one another in a plurality of annular rows around the stent. The leaflets together may have a coapted position occluding the interior region of the stent and an open position in which the interior region is not occluded. Each leaflet may include a primary leaflet material, as well as features that reinforce specific regions of the leaflet.
SYSTEMS FOR REMOTELY CONTROLLING ASPIRATION PATTERNS
An aspiration system includes a pump and a control system in communication with the pump. The control system includes a microcontroller, an antenna configured to receive a signal, and a pump control board in communication with the microcontroller. The antenna is in communication with the microcontroller. Upon receiving the signal, the pump control board operates the pump to create negative pressure according to the signal.
DEVICE AND METHOD WITH REDUCED PACEMAKER RATE IN HEART VALVE REPLACEMENT
The disclosure relates to heart valve prostheses with the reduced need of pacemaker implantation and improved means for positioning the replacement heart valve.
Vascular implants and methods
The present invention is directed to vascular implants and methods for fabricating the same. The implantable devices include but are not limited to stents, grafts and stent grafts. In many embodiments, the devices include one or more side branch lumens interconnected with the main lumen.
MEDICAL DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR A FLOW DIVERTER, AND KIT
The invention concerns a medical device, in particular a flow diverter, having a radially self-expandable lattice structure (10) which is tubular at least in some regions and which is composed of a plurality of interwoven individual wires (11) which form meshes (12) of the lattice structure (10), wherein at least some of the individual wires (11) have an X-ray visible core material (11a) and a superelastic mantle material (11b), wherein a plurality of directly adjacent meshes (12) in the circumferential direction of the lattice structure (10) form a mesh ring (13), wherein in a fully self-expanded state, the lattice structure (10) has an expansion diameter D.sub.exp, the mesh ring (13) has a mesh number n, and the core material (11a) has a core diameter d.sub.core, and wherein for the core diameter d.sub.core, the following holds:
d.sub.core=f.Math.(D.sub.exp/n)
wherein the following holds for a visibility factor f:
0.08≤f≤0.15
SPINAL IMPLANT CONFIGURED FOR MIDLINE INSERTION
The embodiments provide a spinal implant that is configured for midline insertion into a patient's intervertebral disc space. The spinal implant may have a body and the body comprises one or more apertures. The apertures receive fixation elements, such as a screw and the like. The fixation element may comprise one or more anti-backout features, such as a split ring. In addition, at least some of the apertures are designed to permit a predetermined amount of nutation by a fixation element. The apertures that allow nutation enable the fixation element to toggle from one position to another, for example, during subsidence of the implant in situ. Some of the apertures may be configured to rigidly lock with the fixation elements. Moreover, the spinal implant may include features, such as one or more bores, that can accommodate imaging marks to help guide a surgeon.
Inter-body implantation system and method
A system for implanting an inter-body device between adjacent vertebrae comprises an inter-body device having a plurality of cans secured to a flexible bridge and having a relief portion therebetween. An inserter tube and complementary bullnoses are advantageously secured to the vertebrae by an extension arm for securing the assembly precisely in place. A plurality of articulating trial implants are provided to test fit a disc space for the proper sized inter-body device.
Method and spacer device for spanning a space formed upon removal of an intervertebral disc
An intervertebral spacer is designed particularly for patients who are not candidates for total disc replacement. The spacer maintains disc height and prevents subsidence with a large vertebral body contacting surface area while substantially reducing recovery time by eliminating the need for bridging bone. The intervertebral spacer or fusion spacer includes a rigid spacer body sized and shaped to fit within an intervertebral space between two vertebral bodies. In one embodiment, the spacer body has two opposed metallic vertebral contacting surfaces, at least one fin extending from each of the vertebral contacting surfaces and configured to be positioned within slots cut into the two vertebral bodies. Holes, if present, cover less than 40 percent of the entire vertebral body contacting surfaces to provide increased bone ongrowth surfaces and to prevent subsidence.
