Device for the delivery of a prosthetic implant and method of use thereof
A surgical device for assisting in the placement of a prosthetic implant. One or more sheets of polymer are in the form of a conical frustum such that a proximal end is sealed and a distal end is open, with an elongated slit extending from the distal end toward the proximal end. A single opening is formed by the distal opening and the elongated slit with a set of inter-lockable fastener elements disposed along opposing sides and configured to seal the elongated slit such that the distal end remains open to allow for egress of the prosthetic implant for placement into a surgical pocket. A lubricious coating is applied to the interior cavity of the frustum in addition to one or more surface active coatings. Movement of the prosthetic implant across the one or more surface active coatings causes the coatings to provide one or more offered benefits.
A TYMPANOSTOMY TUBE
A fluidic bridging tube (1), for bridging membranes in the human or animal body allowing the passage of fluid, has a proximal flange (2), an inter lumen connector (3) with a lumen (5) and a distal flange (4). The tube comprises a metal skeleton or scaffold structure (51) and a surrounding polymer which is softer than the scaffold structure. The scaffold structure (51) has a tubular mesh providing structural strength to the inter lumen connector. The tubular mesh has members (61) defining substantial rectangular mesh apertures, and distal crowns (64). At its proximal end the scaffold structure comprises spines (68) extending from a proximal tubular mesh rim (63). The spines provide structural strength to the proximal flange (2). In the preferred embodiment the tube is a tympanostomy tube. A method of manufacturing the tube comprises providing the scaffold structure and over-moulding the outer material to form the shape of the proximal flange, the inter lumen connector with a lumen, and the distal flange.
Implant with a visual indicator of a barrier layer
An implantable soft tissue prosthesis device comprising a silicone elastomer-shell filled with silicone gel or liquid, which among the layers that constitute its shell includes a barrier layer formed of a low permeability silicone, which impedes the bleeding or diffusion of the silicone gel from the inside of the implant to its surroundings through the shell. This barrier layer is given a coloration different to the other layers of the shell, making it visible in the finished product. The coloration of the barrier layer gives the fabricator of the implant as well as to medical personnel, the possibility to identify the presence of the barrier layer and its homogeneity, improving the safety of the device.
INTRAOCULAR LENS DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS
An intraocular device that includes a bas member is provided. The device can be an accommodation intraocular lens device with the base member and a power changing lens. The base member comprises an annular haptic that surrounds a central cavity having an open end. The power changing lens is configured to fit within the central cavity. The haptic comprises one or more projections, e.g., tabs that hold another device in position. In the case of the accommodating intraocular lens device, the other device is the power changing lens. The base member and the power changing lens are maintained separate until assembly in the eye of the patient. During assembly, the base member is advanced into the capsular bag of a patient through a capsulorhexis and oriented such that the open end of the central cavity faces the cornea. Subsequently, the power changing lens is advanced into the central cavity through the capsulorhexis. The one or more tabs are placed anterior of the power changing lens to secure the power changing lens within the cavity.
Prosthesis comprising a mesh and a strengthening means
Prosthesis (1) comprising one porous mesh (2) comprising a first face and a second face opposite the first face, the prosthesis (1) comprising: —one porous strengthening means (6) which strengthens the mesh (2) and is intended to cover at least part of one of said first and second faces of the mesh (2), —fastening means for fastening the strengthening means (3) to the mesh (2), in a position fastened to the mesh (2), the strengthening means (6) covers a peripheral part (7) of one of said first and second faces of the mesh.
Hernia prosthesis
The present invention relates to a prosthesis (200) comprising:—at least one layer of a flexible mesh (1) delimited by a peripheral outer edge (1a), said mesh having a first color, and—at least one layer (2) of porous material fixed to said mesh substantially along the perimeter of said peripheral outer edge, said layer of porous material being recessed at its central part (4), said layer of porous material having a second color, different from said first color.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DELIVERING A FILLED PROSTHETIC BLADDER INTO A SURGICAL CAVITY
A prosthetic insertion apparatus and related methods of use in delivering filled prosthetic bladders through a skin incision and into a surgical cavity or pocket. The prosthetic insertion apparatus imparts control and retention properties to a surgical professional such the prosthetic bladder can be oriented and manipulated into the surgical cavity without risk of inadvertent dropping of the prosthetic bladder and without imparting damaging stress or torque to the bladder. Suitable materials can be utilized that are selected as having advantageous properties including lubricity, rigidity, easily sterilizable, and high strength.
INDICATOR MARKING TECHNOLOGY FOR TEXTILES
Improved methods, designs and/or systems for incorporating markings and/or other visual and/or tactilely identifiable indicia on woven, knitted, nonwoven, braided and/or felted textiles used for medical textile implants and prostheses, including medical graft prostheses that would not affect the overall mechanical performance of the textile.
Device for the delivery of a prosthetic implant and method of use thereof
A surgical device for assisting in the placement of a prosthetic implant within a surgical pocket of a patient such that placement minimizes tissue stress along and inside the surgical pocket. The surgical device comprises a bag shaped as a conical frustum in which a proximal end of the conical frustum is sealed and a distal end of the conical frustum is open, with an elongated slit extending from the distal end towards the proximal end. An opening formed by the distal opening and the elongated slit is sufficiently large enough to accept the prosthetic implant into the bag. According to one embodiment, an adhesive is affixed along a portion of the elongated slit to seal the elongated slit such that the distal end remains open, thereby allowing for egress of the implant from the bag and placement into the surgical pocket.
