Disclosed are an automatic control system for urinary incontinence with a function of multi-point switching in turn and an intracorporeal apparatus (200) thereof. The intracorporeal apparatus (200) is completely implanted in a body. The intracorporeal apparatus (200) comprises an intracorporeal microcontroller (220) and urethral blockers (230), the intracorporeal microcontroller (220) being configured to control the urethral blockers (230) to block and unblock the urethra. The intracorporeal apparatus (200) comprises at least two urethral blockers (230) provided at different locations on the urethra, i.e., a first urethral blocker (230a) and a second urethral blocker (230b), and the intracorporeal microcontroller (220) is configured to control the at least two urethral blockers (230) to block and unblock the urethra in turn.
GASTRIC OUTFLOW REGULATION DEVICES AND METHODS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
A gastric outflow device is described. The gastric outflow device includes a ring having a ring aperture; and a topper having a topper aperture, the topper attachable to the ring, the topper aperture alignable with the ring aperture to form the gastric outflow device aperture. The gastric outflow device aperture can be adjusted wirelessly, percutaneously, by replacing the topper, and/or by including an expandable compartment surrounding the aperture, the expandable compartment increasing and decreasing the gastric outflow device aperture on being filled with filling material and having the filling material extracted, respectively.
TREATMENT OF GERD
The present disclosure relates to treatment of reflux disease of a human patient. More particularly, a device is disclosed, which is configured to be implanted in the body of the human to restrict movement of the cardia of the patient's stomach towards the diaphragm opening into the patient's thorax, and/or to prevent stomach contents from passing from the stomach into the esophagus.
Adjustable implant and method of use
A system includes an adjustable implant configured for implantation internally within a subject and includes a permanent magnet configured for rotation about an axis of rotation, the permanent magnet operatively coupled to a drive transmission configured to alter a dimension of the adjustable implant. The system includes an external adjustment device configured for placement on or adjacent to the skin of the subject having at least one magnet configured for rotation, the external adjustment device further comprising a motor configured to rotate the at least one magnet and an encoder. Rotation of the at least one magnet of the external adjustment device effectuates rotational movement of the permanent magnet of the adjustable implant and alters the dimension of the adjustable implant. Drive control circuitry is configured to receive an input signal from the encoder.
Medical device including an artificial contractile structure
A medical device has an artificial contractile structure including at least one contractile element adapted to contract a hollow body organ in such a way that said contractile element is adapted to be in a resting position or in an activated position, the activated position being defined with the contractile element constricting the hollow body organ and the resting position being defined with the contractile element not constricting the hollow body organ. The medical device further includes a tensioning device adapted to apply a force so as to tighten the contractile element around the hollow body organ, the tensioning device having a flexible transmission with a tensioning element arranged in a sheath. The sheath has an inner coiled wire coiled in a first direction, and an outer coiled wire surrounding the inner coiled wire and coiled in a second direction opposite to said first direction.
Apparatus and methods for corrective guidance of eating behavior
A method for modifying the eating behavior of a patient equipped with a gastric restriction apparatus includes the steps of: a. providing an adjustable gastric band (AGB); b. providing a pressure sensor to measure pressure within the AGB; c. providing a processing unit containing instructions to collect a set of pressure measurement and to analyze the set pressure measurement; d. providing a data base comprising data concerning pressure exerted within the AGB by a bolus of liquid food, a bolus of semiliquid food, and a bolus of solid food; e. recording the sets of pressure measurements; f. recording the results; g. communicating the results; h. placing the AGB in position; i. measuring the pressure within the AGB; j. using the distinction of the current eating pattern to modify the eating behavior of the patient.
Adaptive lower esophagus sphincter augmentation
Apparatus consisting of a plurality of mechanically connected magnetic elements implanted around the lower esophagus sphincter with the purpose to restore its normal function in patients suffering from gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), while avoiding dysphagia.
Medical device for narrowing or closing an anatomical channel
A medical device for narrowing or closing an anatomical channel includes a band part (1) which can be placed around the body tissue (2) surrounding the anatomical channel and which can be closed to form a ring that encloses a through-opening (6) for the body tissue, wherein the band part (1) has a hollow chamber (3), and wherein the through-opening (6) can be made smaller by introducing a fluid into the hollow chamber (3). The medical device moreover includes a pump unit (10) which serves to convey the fluid and which has an electric drive (15) controllable by an electronic control system of the device, wherein a pressure value corresponding to the pressure of the fluid in the hollow chamber (3) or dependent on this pressure can be detected by the electronic control system. The device moreover has an air pressure sensor (23) for detecting the atmospheric pressure.
