Functional ankle supports with improved movement and comfort
An ankle brace, having a rear-entry ankle cuff adapted to be worn adjacently above lateral and medial malleoli of an ankle, and an open-heel, open-malleoli and open-toe midfoot member extending forwardly and downwardly from the ankle cuff.
BRACE
A brace may include a knit portion with an ankle strap, a rigid shank on a bottom portion of the brace configured to cover at least an arch portion of the foot, a pad positioned below a heel of the foot, a webbing support system extending from the lateral extensor digitorum longus tendon around the peroneus longus retinaculum tendon, under the bottom of the foot to support the plantar tendon and up the arch and medial side of the foot to the extensor hallucis longus tendon, a lacing system threaded through a portion of the webbing support system at the top medial portion of the foot, and a tightening system that applies a pulling force on the lacing system to cinch the webbing support system.
Foot movement damping device and shoe for damping a foot movement via the ankle joint
A foot movement damper for damping a foot movement via the ankle joint, comprising a support arrangement for bearing on a lower leg and a holder arrangement for holding a foot, wherein a damping arrangement with at least one damping element is provided for damping a relative movement between the support arrangement and the holder arrangement, wherein the damping arrangement has a support binding for binding to the support arrangement and a holder binding for binding to the holder arrangement; and wherein the support arrangement has at least one bearing region and at least one bearing fixture, wherein the support arrangement can bear with the at least one bearing region over the malleolus of the ankle joint, and wherein the at least one bearing fixture is designed to fix the position of the at least one bearing region in a state when applied to the lower leg.
Orthopedic walking boot having a mechanically adjustable ramp insert
An orthopedic walking boot includes a housing configured to encompass at least a user's foot, a mechanically adjustable ramp insert including a ramp surface and disposed in the housing, an adjusting mechanism configured to adjust an elevation angle of the ramp surface, and a mechanically adjustable lift configured to cause the mechanically adjustable ramp insert to descend within the housing as the ramp surface is elevated such that vertical displacement of the user's foot caused by elevation of the ramp surface is substantially attenuated. Related methods are also provided.
Variable compression body anchor
In some embodiments, a body anchor for supporting an assistive device can include: a cuff to exert a compression force on a body part of a user; and one or more tensile elements having first ends and second ends. The first ends of the tensile elements can be configured to be attached to the assistive device. The second ends of the tensile elements can be arranged about the cuff to cause the compression force to vary in proportion to a load exerted by the assistive device.
Universal dynamic athletic ankle brace and add-on interior stirrup support system
A rear-entry ankle brace includes an elastomeric component defining an inside elbow channel configured to span an ankle joint. A channel opening extends the length of the elastomeric component for direct insertion on top of a leg. One or more leg straps are used to adjustably tension first and second rear edges of the channel opening toward one another and secure the brace to the lower leg. Two foot straps are used to adjustably tension first and second bottom edges of the channel opening toward one another and secure the brace to the mid-foot. The foot straps overlap on the bottom to define a plantar surface of the brace and cross over each other on the topside of the elastomeric component and are secured to a leg strap. A pair of stabilizing stirrups optionally are included on the inside surfaces of the elastomeric component and receive the malleoli.
Pre-cut adhesive supports for anatomical support, pain reduction, or therapeutic treatment
An elongate strap support system for anatomical support, pain reduction, or therapeutic treatment includes a package containing a first elongate strap support and at least one additional elongate strap support. In one example, the first elongate strap support includes a woven fabric support layer including synthetic fibers. The woven fabric is shaped so as to form an elongated strap with rounded portions. The woven fabric is substantially resistant to stretching in one direction under such test conditions as those specified in ASTM D3759. The first elongate strap support additionally includes an adhesive layer on the support layer for adhesive attachment of the woven fabric support layer to an outer skin surface of a body and a removable cover layer on the adhesive layer.
Actuator-equipped knee ankle foot orthosis
The present invention provides an actuator-equipped knee ankle foot orthosis in which a control device calculates a thigh phase angle based on an angle-related signal detected by a thigh orientation detecting means at one sampling point, applies the thigh phase angle at that sampling point to an assisting force control data, which is stored in the control device in advance and indicates the relationship between the thigh phase angle and a size of the assisting force to be imparted to a lower leg-side brace, to obtain the size of the assisting force to be imparted to the lower leg-side brace at that sampling point, and executes operational control for an actuator unit such that the assisting force having the size is output.
DEVICE FOR ASSISTING MOTION OF A JOINT
In some embodiments, a device for assisting motion of a joint may include a first anchor on a first side of the joint, a second anchor on a second side of the joint, a spring operatively coupled to the first anchor and the second anchor, and an actuator operatively coupled to the first anchor and the second anchor. Actuating the actuator may apply a torque about the joint that is resisted by a reaction torque applied to the joint by the spring.
Wearable Device for Increased Mobility
A wearable device that passively and/or actively massages the muscles and tendons on the front of the ankle enabling increased mobility. The device uses adjustable half spheres that come in various sizes and materials such as wood and/or acrylic to apply pressure to the various areas of the ankle inhibiting myofascial release. A fixed elastic strap may wrap around the bottom of the foot and an adjustable strap may wrap around the back across the Achilles tendon. It allows for the same techniques to be applied passively by the user without the assistance of anyone else.
