Disclosed herein is a device and method for evacuating patients during medical emergencies. The device is an evacuation blanket comprised of a cover and a carrier. The cover includes a number of inventive elements supporting an improved method of evacuating patients and matching those patients to the blanket used for their evacuation after the patient has been evacuated to a destination and separated from the blanket.

A valve for an inflatable device includes a pocket configured to be located in a cavity of the inflatable device. The pocket includes an entrance opening to receive air from an air output. The pocket further includes a first layer of material having at least a first aperture, wherein the first aperture is positioned entirely within the first layer of material, a second layer of material having at least a second aperture in fluid communication with the first aperture, wherein the second aperture is positioned entirely within the second layer of material. The first aperture and the second aperture are in fluid communication with the entrance opening and the cavity such that airflow passes through the valve by flowing from the entrance opening into the pocket, and out of the pocket and into the cavity through at least one of the first aperture or the second aperture.

A rescue litter relates generally to a person, animal, and provisions carrying apparatus for purposes of human or animal recovery and relief missions. The carrying apparatus has commonalities with portable beds. The rescue litter aids manually carrying a casualty. The rescue litter comprises a stretcher sheet. The rescue litter also comprises at least one strap along the stretcher sheet to support the weight of the casualty. The stretcher sheet comprises guides to direct progressive motion of the strap(s) from a strap holder on the stretcher sheet where the strap(s) is/are held, to a head end where the strap(s) is/are free to grasp.

The carrying structure is configured to support an injured person on the top surface. The litter further comprises at least one spreader bar disposed between the pair of frame rails. At least one foot defining a top and a bottom may be attached to a bottom side of either the at least one spreader bar or at least one of the pair of frame rails. The at least one foot defines a curved surface leading downwardly from the top to the bottom vertically away from the top surface of the carrying structure and horizontally towards the middle space.

A litter for carrying an injured person and method of making the same is provided. The litter comprises a pair of frame rails defining a middle space therebetween. An emergency device for transporting incapacitated persons. The device is affixed to an existing seat on a mode of transportation, such as an airplane seat, such that it appears to form the upper layer of the seat. If the passenger in the seat becomes incapacitated, the device can easily be detached from the seat, and placed into use as an emergency transportation device. The device includes handles that allow assisting persons to grasp it. The device may be rolled up into compact form when not in use as an upper layer of the seat or as an emergency transportation device. In its compact form, it may be used as a travel pillow.
