A novel technique for the fabrication of a casket dome lid from, for example, Smooth-One-Side (“S1S”) hardboard is disclosed. The invention is also directed to the fabrication of a casket lid which has a domed configuration both in the lateral and longitudinal directions of the lid. The method comprises the steps of providing a lid blank having a first end, second end, and a central region; providing a pair of diagonal voids oriented at corners of the first end of said blank and extending inward toward the central region; placing the lid blank in a vacuum fixture; and flexing the lid blank into a domed configuration via the vacuum fixture, such that the blank is domed in both a longitudinal and a transverse direction.

The coffin also has oxygen-storage means enabling oxygen to be introduced into the coffin, humidifying means and heating means so as to generate, over time, conditions which allow rapid decomposition of the body.

The invention is essentially a cylindrical, tubular form, to form a receptacle to serve as a cremation/burial vessel, free of corners, angles and sharp edges and manufactured from a biodegradable material. The invention contemplates use of screws—preferably stainless steel to secure those elements such as the end walls which require releasable fixation. One suitable non-toxic biodegradable material is recycled cellulose fibre such as cardboard or used paper products. Other materials used in construction of the invention include, plantation timber framing, plywood end closures, screw fixation, water based adhesive as required, nontoxic water based paint, and quantities of water based craft adhesive.

A casket lid includes a lid body and a bridge formed from a folded corrugated paper blank. The lid body extends partially over a casket body configured to receive a human body in supine position, the lid body having a first side configured to extend along a portion of a first casket body side, a second side configured to extend along a portion of a second casket body side, a first end configured to extend along a first casket body end, and an open end. Edges of at least two of the first side, second side, and first end define a lid body bottom plane. The bridge extends downward from the lid body near or at the open end, and defines a concave opening extending above the lid body bottom plane.

A casket lid includes a lid body and a bridge formed from a folded corrugated paper blank. The lid body extends partially over a casket body configured to receive a human body in supine position, the lid body having a first side configured to extend along a portion of a first casket body side, a second side configured to extend along a portion of a second casket body side, a first end configured to extend along a first casket body end, and an open end. Edges of at least two of the first side, second side, and first end define a lid body bottom plane. The bridge extends downward from the lid body near or at the open end, and defines a concave opening extending above the lid body bottom plane.

A housing for keeping, transporting and entombing a corpse comprising a bottom with an outer peripheral edge and a lid (2) with an outer peripheral edge, which can be superimposed perfectly between each other, characterized in that between the edge of the bottom and the edge of the lid, along the whole perimeter it is interposed a wire frame section bar, flat, with opened junction, of highly resistant metal, wherein at the ends of the opened junction electric cables are connected, said wire frame section bar being configured so that it allows an extended contact between the edge of the bottom and the edge of the lid in the internal areas of said wire frame section bar, thus providing by current flowing, the welding and the sealing of the peripheral edges of the lid and the bottom.

Caskets, cap panel assemblies for a casket, and methods for manufacturing cap panel assemblies are described. A casket may include a casket shell, at least one casket cap pivotally mounted on the casket shell, and a cap panel assembly mounted in the at least one casket cap. The cap panel assembly may include a cap panel, a puffing member attached to each edge of the cap panel, a cap panel insert positioned in-line with the cap panel, and a plurality of resilient members positioned on a front face of the cap panel insert. The plurality of resilient members may be tensioned, for example, to hold keepsakes, memorabilia, or other types of objects on or in the cap panel insert. The cap panel insert can include a mounting bracket or a screw and wire assembly for mounting the cap panel insert on a wall.

Caskets, cap panel assemblies for a casket, and methods for manufacturing cap panel assemblies are described. A casket may include a casket shell, at least one casket cap pivotally mounted on the casket shell, and a cap panel assembly mounted in the at least one casket cap.
